    Advantages Advantages Fantastic economy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not the sexiest looking MPV

Shopping around for a decent family car I stumbled across the Mitsubishi Space Star. After looking around at the usual Scenic and Picasso etc I was a bit unsure about the relatively unknown Space Star. First thing that jumps out at you about the Space Star is the massive array of equipment supplied as standard. Alloy wheels, air con, CD player, roof bars, electric mirrors/windows.....The list goes on and on. On the outside the S.S does not look a very large vehicle, but once you ease into that driving seat you will be amazed at the space inside ( I am 6ft 3 ") and have loads of room, as does ... more

    Advantages Advantages Economy, Flexibility, Roomy

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not so cheap to insure, expensive dealer servicing

So - we got our Space Star when it had just had the "colt" prefix dropped from it's name. We bought in December 2000 - a nice little metallic green 1.3GLX from our local main dealer (Marshalls in Cambridge). We paid a fair price and haggled and got a good deal. At the time there were no special offers - but it didn't matter as they had the car in stock and were keen to mee their monthly target. Anyway, we p/ex'ed our old fiat and away we went. Plenty of space inside for us and the dog (at the time it was only one) - and even space with 2 dogs and a toddler now - it's been great on that front ... more

Advantages Advantages Well made, reliable, cheap mini Mpv

Disadvantages Disadvantages 1300`s underpowered on hills, boot could have been bigger but is adequate.

Ive owned my 2001 spacestar 3yrs now and in that time the only part its needed that hasnt been a service part ie brakes and oil changes etc was a new suspension strut top mount, spacestars share alot of the running gear and other parts with volvo s40`s and filters brakes etc you`ll notice are listed as such on the boxes. Spacestars were built in the netherlands in the NedCar factory, a joint facility shared by mitsubishi with Volvo which cant be a bad thing. Honestly cant fault mine really in anyway, if i had to be picky maybe i`d have bought the 1600cc if buying again its just on hills really ... more

Advantages Advantages mpg, what comes as standard, handling....

Disadvantages Disadvantages speakers could be more powerful

I hadn't ever come across the space star prior to me keeping an eye out for a new car a few years ago, but it stuck out at the dealers due to its pretty metallic blue paint and alloys. (appeals more to the ladies perhaps....?) To my surprise it had many safety/ features as standard, all of which are attractive and simple to use and reliable (I have yet had a knob come off in my hand...) making it very practical, it is also deceptively spacious, ideal for a family or avid shopper... Since purchasing the vehicle 4 years ago I have not had a single problem with it, mechanical or otherwise ... more

Advantages Advantages not expensive, good mileage, looks OK

Disadvantages Disadvantages cant think of any

This car is great because not expensive, good mileage looks all right. I have one. Its big enough for a family and not too big to drain me off my money. It has a 3 year free servicing, 3 year road side assistance. Twin airbags. Very spacious. Anyone with a low budget can get it. I paid 5000 pounds and the rest 5000 6 months later. All the seats at the back can be folded. I recently bought a door which I easily carried at the back. The shed for the garden also fit it. Between the seats at the back unfold the drinks holder and you can drink coffee without spilling it on the run. You spend £40 ... more

    Advantages Advantages Practical, Space, Cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bouncy Ride, Lack of power, Looks

I have recently had a cost saving exercise in my house and first to go was the my nice car - Audi A4 As a replacement my wife and I looked far and wide for a vehicle that is cheap and will last for a long time Within the budget (£5,000) there was a number of cars which looked attractive to me but were not that practical, My wife eventually brought me to a Mitsubishi garage and there was the space star; One owner, 12,000 on the clock, spotless, enough room for all plus the dog. Immediatly I discounted it because of its looks but my wife persuaded me to try the car on a test drive. The drive was ... more
