Advantages Advantages Knowing the cats, I found it fun to write

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not knowing the cats, you might not find it fun to read

Personally, I blame Bigbaz for this one. Or maybe I should thank him. In either case, it was he who urged me to write a review about my recently-acquired kittens and, when I objected that there was no suitable product category, pointed me in the direction of this heading: Mixed Breed, Non-Pedigree. An odd one, that. It's a bit like trying to write a car review under the product category "any old marque" or a chocolate review under "no particular type or brand". But here goes. What's there to say about the mog That might be helpful to you? What details can I catalogue, As prized on Ciao (or ... more

    Advantages Advantages Lots

Disadvantages Disadvantages No more than any other pet

IN THE BEGINNING = It all started when we were passing a pet shop one day. In the window was a cage and inside the cage was this tiny, sickly looking, black kitten. We were so shocked at the fact that it seemed to be rather ill and looked very uncared for. It tugged at our heartstrings. We couldn't imagine this little kitten's fate if we left it in the shop and so, although we already had a cat, we went into the shop and bought her. Yes, she turned out to be female. We took her home and then straight to the vet. She needed treatment for an assortment of ailments. Armed with the medication we ... more

Those of you that have read some of my previous reviews will know that I have a cat called Bubble. He is a cat of mixed origins (dont ask me what mixture) and is a large black and white creature. He is actually my flatmate's cat and I have become part owner. She had him from a kitten along with his brothers Squeak and Barney. I didn't know Squeak and Barney but I hear that they bullied poor Bubble, beating him up and stealing his food, before eventually running away from home (Maybe stolen or run over, but hopefully still living somewhere). Anyway back to Bubble. I have seen all sorts of cute ... more

    Advantages Advantages See opinion.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages See opinion.

Kittens are, well they're luverly. They're truly scrumptious. They're little, sexy balls of fluff and you fall in love with them straightaway. Blossom and Sixer arrived almost a month ago - via a colleague's son's girlfriend's neighbour. With kittens that sort of roundabout route to acquisition is so common isn't it? Someone's always knows someone, and when the someone of someone asked me I just couldn't resist. They arrived in a little wicker cat basket early one morning, but not as early as Conor and Kieran had got up to stand, noses pressed against the window, waiting. So, what are they ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheaper to buy then a pedigree cat.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Costs just as much to keep.

I've never owned a pedigree cat. They don't seem to turn up at rescue centres, which is where I used to get my cats from. I'm a softhearted doormat when it comes to trying to choose a new pet. Both my previous attempts ended with me taking home the cat that was "most deserving of a lovely home with someone who really understands cats. Look how he's taken to you!" What this really means is that I caved in (twice) and took home the cat that nobody else wanted. Of course, I got years of enjoyment from these cats. My first one was a little ex-farm cat called Everett. He had tons of character and ... more

Advantages Advantages Good fun, kids love them

Disadvantages Disadvantages None, unless you're a doggy person or a mouse

About twenty or so years ago I bought my grandmother a cat. It wasn’t a complicated transaction, I went up to an Edinburgh pet shop, selected an 8 week old tortoiseshell kitten and put it in a cardboard box (with air holes of course). I handed over my dosh and that was that. The most eventful part of the entire process was a drive through the snow up to Granny’s house in Oban, with the heater of my old Cortina working overtime as I zig zagged up the Rest and Be Thankful (a dirty big hill – not very nice in the snow). Anyway, when I eventually got there, I put the box down in ... more

    Advantages Advantages Marvellous, delightful companions

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be expensive (but, unlike kids, you don't need to send them to school)

In the family we've always had at least one cat, and never more than three at once, since I was small. Now I'd find it hard to imagine life without one. At present we have two tabby-and-white twin sisters. They were the last offspring of a cat belonging to friends and, after a lifetime of feline pregnancies, signed off with these two kittens on 16 April 1987. We had been promised them virtually from birth, as a replacement for our tortoiseshell and white of 18 who had died the previous summer. We first saw them when they were a week old. Two small bundles of fluff, they made hardly a sound ... more

Advantages Advantages very rewarding to see so many fit & healthy cats

Disadvantages Disadvantages a strain on the finances

Could you provide a caring and loving home for so many unwanted feral cats? My family never does anything by halves. I have 26 Ranch Chinchillas; my aunt has a dozen or so horses; this is the true story of my sister-in-law and her tribe of rescued cats. Pat is a widow living on her own in a Council owned pre-war terraced property. She has lived there for over thirty years. Her home and garden is neat and tidy, unlike her neighbours (on both sides) whose gardens are full of scrapped vehicles and car parts – doors, engines etc. as well as an abandoned washing machine or two. The story ... more

Advantages Advantages Moggies are great fun to have, easy to clear up any mess.

Disadvantages Disadvantages If its small and moves, it is dead.

Summary – I think moggies are great they are playful, they are good fun to have around and are good company when you live on your own. I would highly recommend a single person living on their own and who is feeling lonely to get a moggy. It will improve the atmosphere around your house and your outlook on life. If you want a moggy, my advise would be to get a kitten from a good family home and make sure you see the mother and if he’s around the father. This will give you a good idea of the finished moggy and its general temperament. Introduction to the moggies– I met my wife-to-be just one ... more

    Advantages Advantages A special friend

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Sharp claws

My childhood was okay, but there was always something missing. Whilst my friends had rabbits, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters and all other fluffy and adorable pets imaginable, I had Jaws. Now don't get me wrong I did love Jaws, and I'd spend hours watching him and talking to him but I couldn't pick him up and give him a cuddle, or stroke his fur [erm, because he didn't have any]. Yup, in case you hadn't guessed my first in fact only childhood pet was a goldfish. My dad and sister suffered with hay fever and serious allergies to pet hair, so that meant a furry animal of any kind was out of ... more
