Advantages Advantages Decent Range, Good Appliances

Disadvantages Disadvantages They lie, they're incompetent, they use hard sell!

After recently moving house, we decided that the old kitchen (original since built in 1982) had seen better days and was no longer fit for preparing food in. We shopped around looking at the various kitchen companies from the "low market" B&Q to the "top of the market" Moben. We found very quickly that there was actually very little to choose between any of the brands in terms of quality - they're pretty much all chipboard with some kind of vaneer! However, we thought that as Moben had been going so long, and they did seem on the face of it to offer a more tailored solution, we'd invite them ... more

Advantages Advantages A nice looking kitchen

Disadvantages Disadvantages extremely bad after sales service, bully tactics sales, rudeness on calling, unhelpfull staff.

I bought my Moben Kitchen in November 1999, after being 'bullied' into a decision! I was really happy with the results despite the high price. Being disabled the salesman, assured me that I could get the VAT back. Nearly two year on and I still have heard nothing from them about this. Moben offer a complete service with all planning, designing, delivery and fitting included. Appliances come from companies such as: Neff, Leisure, Aga and Technic. And special offers vary from time to time currently they include: an integrated fridge/freezer for £95 and the famous FREE dishwasher. At this point I ... more

Advantages Advantages I honestly can't think of a single advantage

Disadvantages Disadvantages High cost, poor service, lack of customer care, endless stress

It’s now a year since we first signed with Moben Kitchens. This is a long posting, and I make no apology for that. Simply ranting or making unsubstantiated protests is no good to anyone. I am going to lay out my own experiences and opinions, and I hope they are useful. You must come to your own conclusions. OUR KITCHEN IS STILL NOT FINISHED and we have had a YEAR of stress and anguish at the hands of Moben, and it is not over yet. Perhaps the most alarming experience of the last year has been Moben’s apparent efforts to gag me. On at least two occasions I was asked to sign an agreement that ... more

    Advantages Advantages One stop shop

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor quality, poor customer service

When one looks back on ones life, it is possible perhaps to identify a handful of good & bad decisions. You know the sort of thing - life changing decisions and events that stay with you. A good example of a positive event would be when I went to Barcelona in 1999 to watch Man Utd beat Bayern Munich in dramatic style in the champions league final. Happiness you cannot measure, nor will I ever forget. On the negative side, one can look back with sadness at the death of friends or relatives, perhaps the odd bad career move or the one and only time (I doubt people do this more that once) that you ... more

Advantages Advantages Kitchens appear good quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pushy salesman, economical with the truth, poor design service

The Moben 'designer' who came to give us a quote was purely a salesman. He basically knocked up his 'design' in about 10 minutes using a pen and paper - think back of a fag packet and you're on the right lines. Go to a company like Magnet or MFI and you get a 3D design so you can really visualise what they have in mind. All the ideas we had were dismissed as being far too expensive, outdated or just not practical. A fridge-freezer? No chance. A blue cooker? Haven't sold one of them for about 3 years (nothing, of course, to do with the fact they had none in their range and had a particularly ... more

    Advantages Advantages Hardwearing Designer Kitchens

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Appalling customer services

UPDATE Had no response from Moben despite other letters... all became clear when they popped up on Watchdog!! Since then... my double oven has broken down twice... the first time took 6 weeks to get fixed and the second time we gave up and bought the element and fitted it ourselves. The controls in the cooker hood have failed four times - and the service guy apologises every time and has told us there is a design fault. The controls are held in the casing by two small pieces of plastic which constantly break off. This problem is ongoing. Finally... the worktop has started to come away in ... more

    Advantages Advantages Looks nice

Disadvantages Disadvantages Everything about the company!

When we moved into our house in 2001 it had the most awful kitchen, so we decided to do something about it and we made it a priority. We liked the look of Moben kitchens, in particular the flexibility of the cabinets, so we eventually decided to go for one, despite the salesman "designer" chappie who came round. In the end I ended up designing the kitchen myself. However, we did like the look of the product and in particular the corner cabinets. Unfortunately, the fitter messed up and 3 months later we discovered a leak. To cut a long story short, the whole kitchen had to come out again and it ... more

    Advantages Advantages Absolutely None

Disadvantages Disadvantages Rude, Aggressive, Insulting, threatening & Intimidating salesmen

Now where shall I begin.........I apologise in advance but I'll try and keep a long story of our terrible experience short. If your thinking about buying a kitchen you'll do well to read this. We needed a new Kitchen, saw a Moben showroom in our local High Street, called in, kitchens looked good, sales lady was pleasant so we booked an appointment for a salesman to visit us the next evening to draw up a plan and quote us a price. He arrived, showed us the samples, we decided upon a kitchen design and he designed it. So far so good. 'Lets talk about price' he said. After a few scriblings he ... more

1 Star Quick review of Moben Kitchens by aussiegirlinuk 25/07/2007
Most awful experience of hard sell. Arrived at 10am saturday for '2hr appointment' did not leave until after 3pm. Continually 'trashed' other kitchen retailers. Felt salesman would not leave until contract signed, although pressured into wanting deposit on debit/credit card I only supplied a cheque which i latter cancelled as cancelled contract next working day but did not trust there staff - multiple letters and phone calls to cancel kitchen - that said didnt want it to begin with!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Out of pocket

I had Moben out last Saturday (7th August 2004) to quote for a new kitchen. Rodney from Torquay seemed like a nice bloke. Price was a bit high but he said "have the surveyor out and if you don't like what he says then cancel. I need £100 deposit but promise you that if you do cancel the order we NEVER keep the deposit and you will get it back immediately. We gave him £100 but next day we decided against the new kitchen as £7200 was more than we could afford. First thing Monday morning (9th August) my husband did a number of things. First he rang Bristol area manager and cancelled the order. He ... more
