Disadvantages: Takes a little while to get used to - but it's worth it

...by the claims that the Mooncup was cleaner, cheaper and more environmentally friendly that other sanitary products and hurried to Google it as soon as I arrived home. I was immediately directed to a friendly and helpful website which explained how and why the Mooncup worked so well and (after a little scouting around the internet to read other opinions) I wasted no time in ordering one for myself. I'm sure anyone who is interested will look at the ...
...the product. The Mooncup costs around £18 but claims to replace other products completely and lasts for several years so it is great value for money. It arrived swiftly, packaged in a little cloth bag for storage and with a small instruction booklet. Insertion and removal is fully explained in the booklet, with helpful diagrams, but it does take a bit of getting used to (remember that first time you tried inserting a tampon?). I'd definitely allow ...

enviromentally friendly

Advantages: enviromentally friendly
Disadvantages: difficult to use to begin with

I as i imagine most women are not a big fan of periods, they are just one of those things we have to grin and bear each month from puberty untill the menopause sets in which i am hoping will be early with me as i hate having a period each month. My periods have been made a lot more bearable by me purchasing a moon cup, pictured above and for anyone still living in the dark ages that hasent heard of them yet they are a rubber cup that you insert ...
...you will no longer need to use lilets or sanitary towels, they cost around £20 but are reusable for many years so are in my opinion worth there weight in gold. The main inconvienience for me with my periods was that towels dry my skin out too much causing me to be very sore and my flow of my period is very light for the first two days so i was always worried with lilets about the fibers being left behind, all my worries are gone with this moon cup ...

Comfort

I could not live without mine!

Advantages: enviromentally friendly, moneysaving and more comfy!
Disadvantages: none

...Basically the beauty of the mooncup is that it is reusable (you just need to boil it once a month), ot can be kept in until it is full AND you can put it in at any point of your period and it will not have that horrible dry feeling that you can get with tampons. Yes it can take a bit of getting used. I would say give yourself 3 months to get used to it. Personally I have found that you do have to be a little careful when taking it out and putting ...
...blood can drip down. The other thing I have found is that i'm pretty certain that women such as myself that have been stitched down there and are not quite how they used to be also have more tendency to leak. Don't get me wrong though this is still a fabulous creation. It is money saving, more hygienic and can be used before and for the whole of your period. The length of time you can wear it for depends really how heavy you are. On my heaviest days ...

Wish I'd got one sooner!

Advantages: Environmentally friendlier, easy and safe to use, saves money.
Disadvantages: None.

...I read about the Mooncup on another well known money saving forum and the people who'd tried it, on the whole, were pretty enthusiastic about it, so I decided to get one. It was easy to order from the website and arrived quickly in discreet packaging. It's a cup made of silicone and it's flexible, so it doesn't feel as scary as it looks! You can also trim the stem to make it more comfortable for your body. It takes a few attempts to get used to ...

Quick review of Mooncup Menstrual Cup

I bought my Mooncup about 2 years ago and haven't looked back. It is environmentally friendly, so makes you feel quite virtuous :) Can be used for any flow - just adjust how frequently you empty/clean the Mooncup (common sense really, just the same as tampons and pads!) It is better for YOU. No chemicals or fibres, and doesn't dry you out. Easy to take traveling. Saves space. No need to worry about wrappers or rubbish. Takes sogetting used to, but once you've mastered putting it in and out, and cut the stem to a comfortable length, you will love it. At first I kept the stem quite long so it was easier to remove, but as I gained confidence I just cut the whole stem off and i've had no problem taking it out. If you are on the go (public loos *horror!*) you can just rinse the Mooncup with some bottled water from your handbag. ...

Review of Mooncup Menstrual Cup

No more towels for me its Mooncup every month from now on, girls!

Advantages: cheap,eco-friendly,kind to skin
Disadvantages: there are none

I cannot believe that Mooncup has been around for years and I had not heard of it til six months ago when a told me about how she had been using one as an alternative to tampons and towels. As the story goes I have an acute allergic reaction to towels and tampons always let me down plus I was annoyed at the cost every month at was is actually an unavoidable expense and also the impact on the enviroment. Mooncup seemed to offer an answer to all these ...
...eighteen pounds which I worked out would have paid for itself within five months. It is easy to fit after a few practice sessions and is truly comfortable. Once fitted in place it collects everything and you just need to empty it every few hours. You can then rinse and replace and is so discreet to use unlike towels that you have to find a bin for. After your period you can soak it in a weak bleach dilution and replace it into its own neat little ...

Female healthcare with environmental credentials!

Advantages: comfortable, long lasting, effective, environmentally friendly, saves you money
Disadvantages: None, although you do need to clean it.

I've used the mooncup for years and will continue to do so. I first became aware of the financial and environmental effect of so many disposable products, hundreds of kilos of waste and all that money too. Mooncup is silicone rubber so it is non-porous and doesn't absorb bacteria so it is not a risk for TSS, meaning you can safely use it all night with a quick clean in the morning (boil it to be sure!), it's also very easy to use, no skill needed, ...
