    Advantages Advantages Good indepth/thinking novels

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Perhaps too much detail for some

    I’m one of those people who tend to like quirky but mellow entertainment. My humour tends to be dry and I can find enjoyment in sad stories. Personally I think this is because I’m actually rather upbeat and optimistic in life and so a sad story simply tends to keep the balance. Thus the fact that Braveheart (for all it’s historical inaccuracies) is one of my favourite films should come as no surprise. I have recently finished my third Steven Baxter novel. The first story being “Titan”, the second “Time” and the third “The Time Ships”. So if you are familiar with any of these three books then ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great Mix of Story and Science

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A tad too long?

    In my opinion Moonseed is one of the best novels that Stephen Baxter has written. Usually he forgets the story and concentrates on the science too much but this time he has got that mix right. The scale of the story is also fantastic as he does no less than destroy the earth while keeping the story quite personal. One of the best things about this novel is the ending which is almost worthy of Arthur C. Clarke, he manages to wrap up the story enough while showing that as in real life the story has only just begun. ... more
