Advantages: Home-made bread whenever you want it, better taste than shop-bought. Disadvantages: One shape of bread only, quite a large machine.
...a good deal on a Morphy Richards breadmaker from the 48200 range. (There are so many different model numbers that you can get bogged down if you are not careful. Some will bake a small loaf, others use the fastbake option, etc.) I had fancied the duo breadmaker, where you can bake two loaves at once, but after finding that each loaf would only be 1.5lbs, I decided against it as I wanted the option of baking a larger loaf. The breadmaker I went for ...

Advantages: You know what's going in your bread! Disadvantages: none
...this nifty bread machine from Morphy Richards. Ours was bought for a bargain basement price to replace another, more expensive bread machine which had proved really unreliable. It has not let us down!
The 48200 model makes loaves of from 1 pound up to 2 ½ pounds in weight, in half pound increments, making it one of the most versatile machines around. It features 11 different settings, each suitable for a particular type of flour or size of loaf. ...

Advantages: Dont need to go out to buy it Disadvantages: noisy
I have had my breadmaker for just over a year, and at first the results were rather grim.
The texture was too dense, which made the bread hard, and too crusty.
However, after a bit of experimenting, I found that using olive oil instead of butter, and getting the bread out of the machine as soon as it is cooked (or even a little before), produces a perfect loaf.
I always cook white bread also, as granary never works as well.
The only other thing ...

Advantages: homemade fresh bread without the hassle Disadvantages: takes quite a long time but worth the wait

Advantages: None in the town Disadvantages: time consuming, noisy and awful results
...to buy a breadmaker. The Morphy Richards looked good, promised a whole range of delectable treats from bread to cakes and doughnuts. the first shock was having to buy all the ingredient, nothing in my store cupboard was any use. Well persevere I said to myself, you will really enjoy fresh homecooked bread. Well I've had the machine a year and still haven't enjoyed any bread and the sparrows can't get off the ground. Despite following the instructions ...

Advantages: resultant bricks can be used to build useful patio features Disadvantages: waste of time, effort and money trying to bake anything
I bought my breadmaker around 3 years ago and have never had anything remotely resembling a decent loaf from it in all this time. The usual results are dense, sweet, chewy, flat and overly crusty.
It cost me £99 when bought new (they were still a novelty back then) and I ought to have sent it back straight away but kept thinking it was me, the flour, the yeast....
I've tried a number of special flours but the outcome is still a flat, tasteless ...
