    Advantages Advantages Removable cover

Disadvantages Disadvantages Baby slipped off the end

Being pregnant for the third time has made me slightly reminiscent of my previous pregnancy and baby experiences, it gives me a lot of food for thought as I decide what products I will or will not be reusing or replacing for baby Lumpys arrival in July. Back in 2004 when I was expecting my first child I was naturally a bit apprehensive, I'd not had much contact with babies and was unsure of how I'd cope with it all, bathing scared me in particular and I was always worried that I wouldn't support my baby properly, perhaps even letting him fall into the water, deciding it would be better to ... more

Advantages Advantages Better on your back

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I got this bath support when my daughter grown out for her baby bath but was not quite ready for going in a bath seat as she could not sit up for herself then and saw this and thought about giving it a try. This by all means is no substitute for an adult holding the baby while in the bath you must never leave their side what this does help you with is having baby in bath without having to hold them all the time and hurting your back. What I did was have everything ready and put her in her bath this allowed me to have two hands for washing and playing in her bath which was a great back saver ... more

Advantages Advantages Support, reasurance, comfort, easy to clean

Disadvantages Disadvantages age range and size

I had forgot just how many pairs of hands you really do need when bathing a baby, one pair to hold the baby safely, another to load the sponge with the lotion, another to shade the eyes from soap. I know I need an Octopus now which friend can I ring, who is likely to have one. Well as you guessed I could not find one, and you won't find one either so instead why not opt for the next best thing. A Mothercare luxury bath support. It gives you that little reassurance required whilst loading the sponge or washing baby's feet. Made up of a sturdy metal frame (that is non collapsible), and covered ... more

Advantages Advantages No hands bathing, can be used from birth

Disadvantages Disadvantages All that kicking about means baby moves further down the bath support

I bought this bath support because i dreaded holding my son in the water with one hand especially when he wriggles about whilest trying to shampoo his hair and wash him all over. I use the bath support in the big bath, which means there no messing about with buckets, or baby bath kits, or indeed cleaning the kitchen sink before sticking the baby in. One of the benefits of the support is that it supports the neck and head and looks to be very comfortable, can't really comment because i cant sit in it and the wee chap is too young to express his feelings in words. He never cries whilest on the ... more

Advantages Advantages Very safe to bath baby with, leave parents and baby feeling secure

Disadvantages Disadvantages Gets grubby very quickly

I bought this product when I first had my baby for £8 from Mothercare. I bought the product because I had a cesarean and my partner was away on a detachment and i was nervous about managing both the baby and the baby bath on my own(they are heavy when full of water!!!) After a first few times of Ashton screaming has head off whilst i was tring to keep hold his slippery bodyy and wash him i decided action was needed and i invested in this product. It is basically a frame covered in a towelling cloth which sits in the bath. You lay the baby on the frame, ensuring baby is safe and comfortable and ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple design, cheap, works well

Disadvantages Disadvantages Could do with weights or a strap

This bath seat is great for helping you bath your baby. As an originally single mum (lol) I needed something to help me bath my son -especially after a cesarean. If I'm not mistaken i got mine from Mothercare for just under ten pounds which i thought was a very fair price. The bath seat is basically a wire frame with a soft flannel cover that slips over it thus creating the seat. I used to put my son in his chair in either his baby bath or the 'adult' bath and both worked fine. It gives him freedom to kick about as well as support and comfort for both him and you. As it is in a reclined ... more

Advantages Advantages provides a secure feeling for baby whilst bathing

Disadvantages Disadvantages not much use out of it

I bought one of these because i felt it would be safer for baby whilst in the bath to have that extra "something" holding baby while you wash them..If you consider how quickly a baby grows and the fact that they do not stay still for very long then it doesn't seem a very good investment to buy one.. I think i paid £8 from mothercare for mine and truthfully only used it for a few weeks.I felt my son was held just as secure in my arms being bathed than sitting on this. The size of the support truthfully is tiny..so as baby grows they end up hanging off the end plus they only have to move ... more

Advantages Advantages Safe hands free bathing, washable cover

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Being a first time mum I was petrified of bathing my son. He was so tiny I just didn't understand how you could hold a baby AND wash them at the same time. It took my husband and I to bath him, a bit like a tag team. This made it very difficult if my husband was working late, as we would have to wait till my husband came home to bath him. My brother had had a baby a few months before us and while we were talking he suggested I get the fabric bath support. I really think this was the best advice he has ever given me. We bought one the following day and although we bathed him together that night ... more

Advantages Advantages Free hands when bathing baby

Disadvantages Disadvantages takes ages to dry

I bought this when I was still pregnant as bathing my baby was something I was very nervous about, not only was I a first time Mum but I was also very inexperienced around babies. The youngest I had ever held was about 9 months old. The first time we bathed the baby, in his little baby bath, we used the bath support. It doesn't fit as well into the baby bath as it does in the normal bath, but i still can't do without it. He lies on it and it really does make a huge difference. I would recommend using it in the big bath as it is a lot easier, it lies flat on the bath floor rather than on the ... more

Advantages Advantages Bathing your baby in confidence

Disadvantages Disadvantages Material can sag a bit

A friend of mine bought me the Mothercare Luxury Bath Support when my daughter was born in November, and it has helped me no end with bathing her, I don't know how I managed beforehand! It's a simple design made from a metal frame with a toweling cover which is removeable for washing. You fill the bath first (approx. 2 inchs) with the right temperature water, and then place the bath support in the baby bath (or main bath when baby is older). Baby then sits comfortably supported giving you two hands to wash him/her. Priced at £8 and is available on mothercare.com. Suitable from birth to 6 ... more
