...of my own.
The Motorola A1000 was released at the end of 2004 and I think it was initially designed as a device which would be more suitable for a businessman who is mobile and not office based than the general public. However I think in reality it actually appealed a lot to normal people, students, gadget people and just the general old Joe off the street.
The A1000 was released as the phone which has everything. Quite simply this gives the impression ... ...at the time).
The Motorola A1000 incorporates a 1.2 mega-pixel camera which is great for taking pictures. The software on the phone includes a magnificent image browsing section where you can view all your pictures in thumbnail view and then press on them to select them and bring them up larger on screen. The camera on the A1000 is definitely one of the best I have encountered on a mobile device and the images are very crisp and sharp. The phone ...

Advantages: Large memory, stylish, many useful features Disadvantages: crashes occasionally, drops calls, small annoyances like virtual keyboard
...and then I got the Motorola A1000 free with the deal.
The actual screen is probably the most attractive feature of this 3G phone. It runs on the Symbian OS and as far as I know is only currently available through the 3 network in the United Kingdom. This hinders the use of the internet browser seen as this network uses a "walled garden" where users cannot browse away from the home pages without an extortionate charge.
The screen offers a 208x320 ... ...and viewing pictures. Motorola has managed to come up with its own user interface and after a while this does tend to show its colours. In the absence of a soft touch keyboard or keypad, the I have found I need to rely on the interface's own Roman key board so when using the text messaging feature it wasn't nearly as convenient as my old phone, a nokia 7210, for text messageing on the move, and I usually do need to text whilst walking around. To ...

...have gone through
3x Motorola A835
1x Motorola A925
So what happened? Well my first a835 stopped working, just crashed, my second would not send text messages and my 3rd kept loosing the signal.
Not to mention battery life, it needed charging every 2 days, and after every voice call.
My a925 had even worse battery life of 1 day, straight from the box. Also both of them are brick sized.

The provided software is rubbish. It doesnt automatically syncronise, you have to dock the phone open up the software on the computer, and then try and navigate through the phones settings to turn on syncronisation. But you have to of remembered to remove the stylus (pen) before docking as it is situated at the bottom of the phone.

As I said I haven't had any problems with this phone, in fact the only bad things I can say about it is the battery life and not being able to edit documents. The phone itself is weighs 160g and most of that is the battery. It doesnt have any games on it to start with, I think it is aimed more ...

Advantages: Excellent Software, Lightweight and Compact for a PDA, Good content availability. Disadvantages: Battery Life, Easily Damaged Screen, Slow input and a few dropped calls
I got this phone as I think many did via a Three Mobile Contract. I wanted a phone that would give me good functionality and offer me the option of synchronising with my PC and managing hectic schedules as well.
The software that is compatible with this phone is astounding, from games to office software to ringtones to just about anything you could ever want or need.
The dual side speakers mean that the sound quality is excellent and also the screen ... ...video clips. I also like the fact that it has done away with the swivelling camera that most phones have and uses a dual camera from the front and back, this is an excellent feature should you wish to use video calling.
The downside to this phone is that the calls can drop sometimes for no reason at all and in the beginning I also had problems with resetting of the phone. The battery life is not the best and is eaten up even more if you use power ...

Advantages: Great phone / PDA features Disadvantages: Data input is slow with virtual keyboard
I recently received this phone as an upgrade - I wanted a phone that doubles up as a PDA and this does the job nicely.
I particularly like the fact you can get addional software for the symbian operating system - I have purchased fully functioning office application. The fact that you can upgrade the memory to 512mb is fantastic.
The camera fine and the screen is very clear, although I do worry that it may become damaged easily. Having said that ... ...The reception is better than on my previous LG phone and the sound quality of both the earpiece and the speakers is great.
The battery life is not great but I never expected it to be with such a large screen. However it is on par with my previous phone.

Advantages: PDA, looks good, excellent screen, great functions Disadvantages: Heavy, bulky, battery life
My husband has had this phone for about 6 months, which was free on the 3 network.
It's a great phone, with loads of functions including MP3 player, real ringtones, great graphics for games, video calling and a whole host of other things.

Advantages: combins a phone and PDA all in one great if you are on the go Disadvantages: recomed you use the key lock feature if in your pocket small keyboard
all in all a GOOD AND USEFUL mobile saves carrying round a separate PDA or loose bits of paper just slung around I can keep track of all pick ups I have to make on the day and I can keep a track on the jobs I have done that day or week. Advantages: Great web access and content, superb video & tv playback Disadvantages: Poor Camera - Tricky to text whilst moving
The Motorola A1000 is a wonderful but frustrating phone all rolled into one.
You may notice from the picture that there are no numeric keys - well this is not one of those phones with the keys hidden - it just doesn\'t have any (they\'re on-screen)

The video playback quality is superb but the Camera is pretty poor by todays standards as it is only just over 1 Mega Pixel.

Advantages: Two cameras, excellent sound, assisted global positioning, touch sensitive screen, tons of applications, games- what more could you want? Disadvantages: Well, it turns out you might want a longer battery life, an accessible memory card slot, a stylus silo in a less ridiculous place and a phone bill back in double digits country.
Overall the A1000 has more ups than downs, is a fantastic phone, and a great buy. Personally I have never experienced te bugs that other people do.
The A1000 is, without a shadow of a doubt, a very nice mobile phone. Advantages: Affordable stylish phone that boasts most features Disadvantages: Quite bulky, not enough memory
I own a motorola A1000 and it has been a good companion to me over the last two and a half years, although once it did need to be returned for repair. A disadvantage of this phone is its memory size, which is 24mb. This is clearly not enough memory for a phone that is trying to achieve the business style appearence. Advantages: Looks modern, business capabilities Disadvantages: not good for leisure, impractical shape and writing facilities
Got sent this phone by my phone company as a free upgrade. I really don't like it.
