Me and my brick

AdvantagesSound and picture quality are excellent

DisadvantagesIt's too big

"...was on offer and the Motorola A835 seemed the best of a bad bunch really. *Appearance* The phone itself is a nice colour grey and silver, but about 1/3 of the back is taken up by it's very own speaker! I find this quite funny and have never seen it on any other mobile before. It also has a 4 way navigation key that is a quick access to the four main functions that you can set on the start screen. I quite like having this facility as it is useful ..." Read review

It is this big for a reason. --UPDATE--

AdvantagesFantastic range of features incuding Bluetooth (Both with headsets AND file transfer), Infrared, MP3 player, high quality video and photo viewing/taking, and the incredibly cool ability to set an MP3 as a ringtone. Also comes with wires to link the the PC

DisadvantagesLarge. Takes ages to write a comma in a text.

"I was bored of my NEC e313. I wanted a phone with some of the more modern features, such as bluetooth. This was because I loved the idea of being able to share my pictures and videos for free. So I turned to my local Carphone Warehouse. After browsing through stupidly expensive phones, I came across a large yet somewhat attractive phone called the a835. I was drawn by the two-tone silver and dark grey shell, and the huge screen, and the fact that ..." Read review

Hello Moto!

Advantagesexcellent features, good quality!

Disadvantagesits the size of a brick (literally!)

"The Motorola A835 is one of the current phones available on the mobile network called Ď3í. I work for the mobile phone retailer The Link, and in January we offered customers 100 pounds cashback if they signed up to a contract on 3 with this A835. As I was due a new contract myself, this offer was too good to refuse, and hence I am now an A835 owner! - ABOUT 3 - For those of you who are not mobile phone experts (and letís face it, not many people ..." Oversized, under featured a385

AdvantagesCall Quality, 3G services, display

Disadvantagessize, weight, limiited features

"The A385 is quite large, it will just about fit in your pocket and the unit is quite heavy for a mobile phone. This aside it is certainly a stylish phone, sleek and stylish colouring and nice to hold. The display quality is unfaultable, bright and an excellent colour range. The display works nicely with the two integrated cameras. The cameras take reasonable quality photographs and digital videos and even boasts digital zoom and limited controls ..." Read review

10,000 bricks short of a house

AdvantagesGreat picture quality and focus speed

DisadvantagesPoor performance and reliability

"...This will be something that Motorola will need to look into in the future, to ensure that the new models don't suffer the same fate. My replacement phone does seem to be OK, for the moment at least. Also the reception of 'Three' isn't great in some areas the 3G reception is appalling. At times you can't even make a call or send a text, let alone use the WAP service. This is very frustrating, as you have to constantly check you have some reception. ..." Read review

Everything in a phone

AdvantagesVideo recording and calling

Disadvantagessize and weight

"...you can always be found. Disadvantages: The Motorola A835 is quite big and weighs a lot, (168 grams), and has no built in games. Downloading games is free but every time you play them it costs from 25-50p. Downloading ringtones costs a lot (2 pounds), but before you download any ringtones you can listen to them. - which is good to find out if you like the ringtone or if you want to record them. The Motorola A835 also has no changeable facias. About ..." Read review

Me and my remote control

Advantageseasy to use and quite an attractive phone to have

Disadvantagespoor battery life meaning you only get a day or two per charge

"i have had my phone for around 4 months now and I must say its not bad at all. While there are several aspects that kind of annoy me others add a little extra. The main problem with this phone is the battery life. If you was to use it quite a lot you will find it wont even last a day, typically it lasts me about 2 but im not always on it. It only takes around 45 minutes to charge so thats on the plus side. One thing I like to do is to keep text ..." Read review

21st Century performance in a 1980s size phone

Advantages3G, Video, Bluetooth, Infrared -Lots of features

DisadvantagesSize of a brick and just as heavy.

" Personal Experience *********************** I was rung up by a mobile phone telesales operator in the early hours of a Saturday morning and was pursuaded by the operator to get this contract phone with all the bells and whistles with a six month half price line rental and lots of free mins and texts. I even looked up a picture of it on the net and liked the look of it. When it actually arrived I was pretty disappointed as it was around twice ..." Read review

Motorola A835 - Don't let looks decieve You

AdvantagesVideo Recorder and Camera, Cheap

DisadvantagesIs a Brick, bad top-up options

"I brought this for for the Reason that it had a built in Video Recorder and Camera. I wasn't willing to spend that much on it, i ended up splashing out £74.95 on it from the link. I didn't care about the size, i realised it would be big, it is a Video Recorder though isn't it. It was a big change to the Nokia 3410. When i know pick up The Nokia 3410 it makes me realise how big my new phone is, it is like double the size and weight. Qualities I ..." Read review

"THEY SAY IT'S A BRICK, BUT I DON'T CARE"

AdvantagesTop features, reasonably decent camera

DisadvantagesObviously the size

"Well what can i say? If this phone was a bit smaller everyone would want one. I picked this phone up a few months ago for a bargain of £75 which i think is extremely good for what it's worth. Nothing has broken yet either, which is rather reassuring! The camera quality i think is rather good, and with 64mb of memory you can afford to crank up the quality somewhat to get even better pics. The video option is not that good quality but it is quite fun, ..." Read review

My Motorola A835

AdvantagesLots of features, good camera

DisadvantagesCannot see the screen in bright light or sunlight outdoors, not all functions seem to work, big heavy phone.

"I got my A835 on contract with 3 early 2004. The offer was half price line rental for 12 months, although I do have to claim back months 3 to 6 and then 6 to 12. I get 500 inclusive minutes to any network any time which is very good, but have to pay for SMS messages. The other package offered 500 free texts and 50 minutes but there is nothing in between. I have stopped sending so many texts and phone people instead when possible. The cost of making ..." Read review

You decide!

AdvantagesLoud, Fun, Easy to use

DisadvantagesSize

"Firstly, I think this phone is fantastic, it has a lot to offer, The Built in loudspeaker is great, this allows you to listen to your Mp3 files, also headphones / hands free-kit is included so you can listen to your music more discreetly. You can create your own Play lists so you donít have to change track, and itís easy to put the Mp3s on the phone as it includes a data transfer cable and the software needed. The Video Camera is Brilliant quality; ..." Read review

A good phone with some outstanding features

AdvantagesMP3 Player, Video Camera.

DisadvantagesBad Network, Rather large, No Games!

"Ive had the Motorola A835 for about 8 months now, I am delighted with the features the phone posseses, such as MP3 Player, Bluetooth, Infrared, Video Camera, Large Memory, etc. However, the phone is extremely large, perhaps even big enough for the Guinness World Book of Records. Seriously, its like housing a fileing cabinet in your pocket, and if your not careful could cause you some back pains :/ . The Phone holds 64mb of memory, which is rather ..." Read review

The Motorola A835- The brick back to life!

AdvantagesFantastic features, video calling

"...very good, just like the Motorola A835. The Motorola A835 features: - 2 Cameras - Video Calling - Video Messenging - Picture Messenging - Email - MP3 Player - Video Downloads - Bluetooth, Infrared, USB connection **The Phone in Detail: When you first pick up the phone you realise that it is a lot more heavier and bigger than your average mobile phone. This is its major downfall as well as its very short battery life. When you turn ..." Read review

the brick with a click

Advantagesgreat features and a cool 64,000 color display

Disadvantagesa very big phone with little battery life

"...to make video calls. The Motorola A835 takes still pictures, records video clips, has java, and a staggering 256MB of memory, which is one of the biggest memory for a 3g phone. The list doesn't stop there. Mobile gamers will definitely be pleased with the memory and of course the large screen that can support up to 64,000 colors for you to enjoy . The A835 is the second of the 3G-UMTS phones that Motorola has introduced and it boasts capabilities ..." Read review
