Advantages: Few beyond that of a basic phone Disadvantages: Quirky, not that well thought out
...just a bit lacklustre.
Motorola tried terribly hard to convince us all it was as cool as it comes, even enlisting former Manchester United star David Beckham to provide an apparent endorsement. Remember the TV ad where he's seen playing the motorcycle game in the supermarket checkout queue? Yeah - like he pops down to Tesco to buy disposable nappies and Victoria's album! I suppose if that's the sort of thing which impresses you (like it did, my ... ...little number!
If custom facias are your thing, then prepare to be disappointed; the 'standard' covers only cover the back and front of the unit, the middle is still a rather naff silver plastic - you *can* get a full body replacement but you need special tools, and it probably does for your warranty.
I am, to say the least, a reluctant mobile phone user.
The only reason I have a mobile is to provide on-call telephone support for my work.

Advantages: Moto GP is back Disadvantages: Freezing after WAP
...I ended up getting my Motorola T720i, but nowadays when I look back - I’m glad I did.
So then - what sort of stuff can you expect to find on the T720i then? Well rather than just give you a big jumbled up paragraph - here have a bullet-point list:
* Functionality
* Wap Browser
* Polyphonic Ringtones
* Detachable Camera
* Flip-phone
* Great Games
* Organiser et al
* Other Stuff
So what Yours truly is going to do is break this review down ... ...and see how we feel at the end! Ok? good:
~Functionality~
It works don’t it! Well yeah it does, in the space of time I’ve had it I’ve had to have it sent away once as it wasn’t receiving any texts at all, but I think that was just a minor fault - the only other thing I’ve really experienced was it does have a tendency to freeze up after using the Wap Browser, but again that's a very rare thing.
To get around the menus, well at first I’ll warn ...

The Motorola T720i seemed to fulfil all that I could ask for in a phone. Or did it…
¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬PRICE¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬
I managed to get this phone with its camera, sim free on ebay for £130, though you can get it for £180 brand new in the shops. Is this a good price? I think so, as it is packed with all the gimmicks and features that will keep any user happy, young or old!

The t720i is able ... ...32 preset ones, though even Motorola have the cheek to ask you to pay for them on their site www.hellomoto.co.uk. Another problem is that the ring tones really are not that loud; if nestled away somewhere, there is really no chance of the phone being heard. This I found was a bit of a disappointment.
The t720i has Downloadable Java™ games (from Motorola website). Yet again, though, you have to pay: £1.50/min, and God knows how many minutes they ...

Advantages: Good mix of features Disadvantages: No camera on board, Screen poor quality, Build quality bad etc
The Motorola T720i officially reaches its 7th birthday this quarter. Having been released in Q4 2002, it is now virtually completely obsolete but can still be seen in some films depicting the early 2000s. At the time of release it was a successor to the T720 phone, virtually of the same specification. --- the BASICS --- The T720i is a clamshell phone. It has 2 screens - 1 outer black and white screen and 1 inner colour screen. The phone supports ... ...sending text messages in addition to more advanced but optional features such as MP3 player and a camera. --- USABILITY --- (Introduction) As the T720i is a clamshell phone there is a flipping mechanism. It rocks - literally. The spring helps to some degree but one gets a feeling that the screen and the keypad will detach any minute - not that it even happened in the years I have been using it. The phone is fast and up to speed - but we shouldn't ...

Advantages: Smart and Stylish!! Disadvantages: Quite tinny and flimsy!
I have had my Motorola T720i for about three months now. I wanted a phone that had a flip front and a camera so I was pleased when I was offered it free with my monthly tariff upgrade. I got mine from O2 website but I have seen them available for all types of prices, from £50 - £180, all over the place. Ebay seems to be a good place to look! When it arrived my pleasure became a delight. The small shiny little phone with colour screen and flip cover. ... ...on, the screen shows a motorola sign on a checkered background then a girl holding up a motorola. The menu screen has the network scrolled across the top. There is a clock face and also a digital clock and date is also shown. There is an option of four quick keys on the menu page. These options are controlled by a round key at the centre of your keypad. It has four arrows, rather like a dial seen on some nokias.You have the chance to change these ...

Advantages: Colour Screen, WAP, SMS/EMS, Flip, Relatively Cheap, Stylish, Java games, its a Motorola! Disadvantages: No intergrated digital camera, no MMS, ringtone volume too low
...tickled my fancy, enter the Motorola T720. This stylish clamshell flip phone, from the masters of the flip, is Motorola's first colour flip phone to be released. And being a teenager I wanted this phone because it is stylish, otherwise I'd hold onto my Nokia 3210. Here comes fun: Motorola T720i Review
Colour Screen:
Motorola made a smooth transition from monochrome to colour. Now that I've experience the wonders of a colour screen theres no going ... ...or great sharpness, unlike my Motorola e365 which does. There happens to be another issue, after a while if you close the flip too fast or slam the phone shut too hard you run the risk of screwing up the phone hardcore. This has happened to me, after not being too considerate to my Moto, the phone now shuts off when you slam the flip phone shut, whereas in the begginning this was not an issue. If you have read some of my other reviews, you will discover ...

...value for money of the motorola t720i, as it was the most expensive handset free on my contract. After owning the phone for 3 months here is my opinion of it
Likes
The fone is very stylish and does promise interchangable covers (although good luck finding them anywhere). It is a feature packed fone which is great if like me you like your gadgets, a few of the main features include:
polyphonic ringtones
downloadable java games and applications
... ...a handy screen that lets u know whoose calling before you answer
vibra alert
photo messaging
The phone actualy came with a free camera attachment, which is excellent value, the picture quality of the camera is poor but i wasn't expecting it to be brilliant.

Advantages: Small Disadvantages: Cuts Out & Turns Off! Not Enough Memory. No Bluetooth or Infra Red
What first appealed to me was the small size of this phone and its flip colour screen. However, the colour isn't as nearly as good as the photo they show in the shops. It's pretty poor colouring :(
The major problem with this phone is that it simply cuts out. Whenever I load Wap or a game, it freezes and goes all black. I've had this mobile a year now, and it’s braking! Not very durable. The microphone is fading. Sometimes the person at the other ... ...because they think there's no one there... annoying! Also, the aerial is unreliable. It shows no signal even in places where other users of the same network are receiving full reception. I also purchased a game from Wap to play on my mobile; however, it cannot be installed because of the lack of memory present on the phone. It can only store a limited number of messages... only 10!! And cannot hold many photographs taken with the camera. But its ...

...lucky enough to receive the Motorola T6720i as an upgrade package. I was a bit wary of getting a Motorola as the ones I've had in the past have been very basic and not much fun to use, but I needn't have worried with this one.
A flip open phone; it comes with all the usual stuff, date manager, alarm clock, calculator and a pretty nifty game called MotoGP which is great on the colour screen. Would have been better with sound though. There are a lot ... ...The interface is easy to navigate, and I found there were several wallpapers to use and the basic text colours can be changed. Extra wallpapers can be downloaded. Also the menu consists of icons which are pretty nifty. You can rearrange them if you like. It also displays the date and time on the front of the phone. Animated picture messages are also possible.
The best bit, however, is the nifty little digital camera which comes with it. Detachable ...

Advantages: i suppose it looks quite good Disadvantages: its just not quite there
...this, it lacks behind other motorola flip phones and the slightly newer competition. The main reason, for me, is the camera. Many people desirea camera with their phone now, and although you can get a camera attachment to the T720i, it is expensive in comparison to the phone, and is of very low quality as well.
_____reliability_____
Sadly, and suprisingly, my T720i lacked the reliability i have come to expect from a motorola. Buttons quickly became ... ...freeze quite often. Overall, a real disappointment.
_____connectivity_____
Its a shame that this phone came out just before the bluetooth surge, as that could really boost it if there was wireless connection between phones to transfer pictures etc.

...with its flip action the Motorola offers really good size keys. Text is easy, especially with predictive option enabled. There are 3 basic games, but be honest, you don't buy a phone for its gaming abilities.
The polyphonic tones offered are not the best quality, and I normally end up just using the standard 'ring,ring'. The menus are not particularly well ordered, and sometimes it is difficult to remember which arrow key to press for what function.

Advantages: Small and stylish Disadvantages: Middle of the road phone
I have had this phone for roughly 2 years now and i am pleased with it.
Looks.
I always think that the clam shell design is gud because it takes up less space and you can't scratch the screen also it is a sleek silver colour with a cool shiny logo on it. The keypad is very neat an the buttons are covered in plastic so the letters don't rub off.
Graphics.
the graphics an the general screen is okay , pretty average you can get some good wall papers ... ...i could download the games as I pleased for an okay price but something went wrong on my T-mobile browser and i couldn't download anything so be careful there so if your buying this phone for the games think again.
Ringtones.

...when i stumbled upon the Motorola T720i. What struck me first was the size, its so compact ideal for even the smallest of handbags or pocket. Even though it's a compact phone the screen is surprisingly large and together with the large buttons(unlike some phones) you dont need telescopic vision or have fingers like matchsticks to use this phone. I own a T720. This is the baby brother of the T720i. The difference being mine does not have a camera. Big deal. Nothing worse than finding yourself in an embarassing situation and someone thrusting their phone in your face just to catch the moment you would much rather forget. Worst still finding everyone you know have saved your picture as wall paper.
Anyway back to my baby. The T720 has turned out to be quite a reliable companion. The screen ... ...on to check my messages. Apart from that you can change the text size and colour if you wish. The covers are interchangable, although only red, blue and silver are available in the UK. But you can find loads on the american web and they will post to the UK. I have to be honest here and say when I first purchased this phone I thought cool! It cost me £30 on the tarrif that I was on and seemed like a nifty little phone! It is sleak and at the time was smaller than most other flip phones ! It had a clear screen and was pretty smart!
