Advantages Advantages Cheap prices, excellent service

Disadvantages Disadvantages None as far as I'm concerned

One should never tempt fate. On Christmas day I was discussing motoring at a party and I announced that I had never had an accident in thirty years' driving. I also mentioned that I had had my car for over a decade and had no intention of changing it: the subtext of my remarks - I'm a careful driver, careful with my cash! You guessed it, the very next day the fates intervened to mock me. While driving on a dual carriageway, the car in front braked sharply and bang went my unblemished accident-free motoring record.. My own car was judged by the assessors to be a write off. Although I have ... more

Advantages Advantages Much cheaper than main dealer prices

Disadvantages Disadvantages You have to take what is in stock!

I know the basics about cars. And as someone who loves to drive, I always make sure that I know exactly what I want from my car. This is my first tip when you approach Motorpoint - from my experience, you will get the best deal if you know what you want but you know what you would be willing to compromise on. I bought my car from Motorpoint in Derby 2 years ago this month (that's what reminded me to write this opinion). I was impressed with the car I received and the price I got it for. Their service on the day could have been a bit better but we'll come back to that later. I knew I wanted a ... more

Advantages Advantages Low Prices and extensive stock

Disadvantages Disadvantages Stock are in random places and not easy to locate.

Having just joined this site and looking at car supermarkets, I thought I'd share my experience. The price of the vehicle, and Motorpoint's service were both fantastic! If you want to buy a new/used car, this is THE place to go! The site at Derby is enormous (just off the A52 East of the City centre). Over 2000 cars are on show on the site. Parking for your own car is very restricted, and the cars are scattered about randomly. There are two sites the main site and a rear compound (which they will drive you to). Locating any specific vehicle is not easy! Virtually all of the cars are in the ... more

Advantages Advantages Very, very cheap cars, and excellent service.

Disadvantages Disadvantages In the open air, not easy to spot a specific model.

I have just bought a new car from Motorpoint at Derby. The price of the vehicle, and Motorpoint's service were both fantastic! If you want to buy a new car, this is THE place to go! Motorpoint now have two sites. Derby and Burnley. Their price lists are available in most of the free car sales magazines in supermarkets and petrol stations, and in the Telegraph on Saturdays. They also have a web site (www.motorpoint.co.uk) where current stocks are detailed. The site at Derby is enormous (just off the A52 East of the City centre). Over 2000 cars are on show on the site. Advantages Advantages value and choice of stock

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I have just bought a BMW 1 series from the Derby Motorpoint showroom and I had to tell other people about it because I was really happy with the deal that I got. This is my first car that I have been able to spend a bit of cash on, so was a major purchasing decision for me. I also had my heart set on a BMW but wasn't sure if my budget would stretch to the model which I wanted. That's a bit about me though, back to the review... I had heard good reviews about Motorpoint from my Father-in-law and also some work colleagues who had also bought from them. I was also prone to stumbling across their ... more

Advantages Advantages Great value, great choice

Disadvantages Disadvantages no test drive, no order to the layout of the cars

Having finally decided to trade in my Peugot 106 I was stumped as to what to buy next. My little Peugeot was a basic model, no gadgets or gizzmos but Id bought it when I was buying my first flat and had to economise. I had genuinely no idea what to buy what I did know was the budget I had and the spec. My new car had to be bigger, have air conditioning, power steering, electric windows, CD player and hopefully one or two other gadgets to play with. I had a short list of a few but hadnt given them any close inspection. One of my friends suggested we go to Motorpoint and see what they had ... more

Advantages Advantages Best deal I could get on price for a 02 Reg Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 GLS 5 door (bought at 6 months old)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Beware of what is/isn't included in the final price, check small print carefully

I chose to buy a new shape Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 5 door because : - low insurance (Group 2); - 1.2 is a chain-driven engine so don't need to worry about cambelt changes; - Fuel economy good (petrol 1.2 can get 50 mpg on long runs); - Size (New shape Vauxhall Corsa is one of largest superminis on the market); - cheap running costs (service intervals 20,000 miles or once a year whichever comes earlier) - my first service cost £120; - Image (Corsa has 'trendy'image); - Depreciation (Corsas depreciate heavily in their first year, but this should work to the advantage of a buyer looking for a nearly ... more

Advantages Advantages Didn't argue about refunding deposit

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Dishonest

For those of you unfamiliar with Motorpoint and their process, they are a car supermarket specializing in low cost new and second hand cars with a wide range of both. They will never haggle on price – the price you see is the price you pay. They have locations all over the UK and will send any car on their website to a location near you for a fee of £99 (refundable if you don’t purchase the car). When you first enquire about getting a car sent to a location to test drive you are essentially sold the car over the phone and a £300 holding deposit is taken (also refunded if you decide not to take ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Car riddled with faults, atrocious aftercare, ridiculous compulsory 'extras'

They're cheap if you know what you're doing. I spent 2 hours with the salesan and got what I still think is a good deal BUT came to pick the car up and......the service which I'd paid £160 for hadn't been done, had I not checked the oil they wouldn't have told me! A very sheepish staff member then took off the service cost, naturally. None of the paperwork was there with the car which is to be forwarded when they receive it but the biggest problem is that it has several faults, the heater and engine mount being the most significant, the problem I have is that they sold me a car in 'Excellent ... more

My own experience with Motorpoint is a rather unusual (but still positive) one, only really having bought from them by accident. I had spent some months deciding on exactly the car I wanted, and started scouring the region for a late model Vauxhall (not imported Opel) Zafira 2.0dti Elegance 7 seater MPV in Ultra Blue with beige interior trim instead of the more usual black. Having looked round all the local Vauxhall dealers (and phoned all those a little distance away), I had drawn a blank until I happened upon Motorpoint's website. According to their stock list, they had exactly the model I ... more
