Advantages Advantages They taste yummy, twin-wrapped, did I mention yummy?

Disadvantages Disadvantages Well I can't think of any!

**Who is Mr Kipling?** Well, Mr Kipling is - would you believe - a fictional character. That's right, we've been conned. The man, whose face you never quite saw in the adverts, was a fraud. An imposter. Yet Mr Kipling is the brand leader in the cake market, a position it first held almost 30 years ago, in 1976. Why is this? Apparently, it's mostly due to his (I'll keep up the pretence for a while longer) commitment to developing new recipes, always with the hallmark of a 'home-baked' taste. So why cakes? Ok, first off - you don't need me to tell you that they're yummy. As a nation we spend £1 ... more

Advantages Advantages VERY tasty - VERY moist - Nice strong lemon flavour! - Very More-ish

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hmm... NONE! Only that there are not enough in one box!

Lemon Slices I’m sat at my desk, with a cuppa, and a lemon slice in hand. “Mmmm...” I say on taking the first bite… What better time to write a review on such a delicious product than right now as I sit and savour it? Shopping around the local supermarket with a colleague just the other lunchtime, we decided to pick up some cakes for once we’d gotten back to work to accompany a cuppa. It was my turn to buy and I fancied something light but sweet and spongy so I guided Lindsey to the sponge cakes section where the shelf was lined with a variety of Mr Kipling cakes, as well as many other cake ... more

Advantages Advantages Lovely taste & great packaging..

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me.

Any regular readers of my reviews will be well aware by now that I have a very sweet tooth. This means of course that I do enjoy the partaking of cakes and biscuits on a regular basis, and I really do enjoy indulging this pastime of mine on a regular basis, it has to be said! When I was on a recent shopping trip in a local branch of the Co-Operative supermarket, I was doing some shopping when my eye happened upon a display of cakes and snacks that was placed near to the end of an aisle. I decided to buy some cakes from the ‘Mr Kipling’ range of cakes, and the variety that I bought was the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Taste great!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages You will want to eat them all!

I was in my local supermarket the other day when I saw these lemon cakes, I had heard quite a lot about them but had never tried them myself, so I bought a packet. THE PACKAGING These cakes come in a box with an easy open tab at the end. When you open the box the cakes are in plastic trays, there is 2 cakes per tray and each tray is wrapped in a clear plastic wrapper. When I first saw the packaging I thought that it just had a white and yellow stripy designed on the front of the box, but I later revised that the stripy design was actually a picture of the cakes icing. In the middle of the box ... more

Advantages Advantages Beautiful, light, fluffy sponge, which melts in your mouth like a dream.

Disadvantages Disadvantages too many calories for my liking.

I love Mr. Kipling cakes, especially the fancies, strawberry sundaes, bakewell slices……alright, I love them all! So I thought I’d give these a try. * Packaging * You get 6 slices in the one box, all packaged in twos which is handy if your taking them to work, or on a picnic. But once you’ve opened and eaten the one, you feel compelled to eat the other. Well, it’d only get stale and thrown away wont it? So you may as well. That’s my excuse anyway. All around the box shows the Mr. Kipling logo. The front and sides have a picture of the actual slice with a piece broken off, leaving a trail of ... more

    Advantages Advantages Lemony yummmmmmm!!!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages High in sugar and sat fat, unhealthy

Mr Kipling are well known for being the best cake makers in Britain. Their products can be found in every supermarket and most corner shops as well because they are so popular. They have a huge selection of different cakes and pies to chose from and therefore it can often take a while to chose which one you want. I've tried a lot of Mr Kipling products but I don't eat them very often because of their main drawback which is their price. Every once in a while though they are a really nice treat. One of my favourites are Mr Kipling Lemon Slices, this is because I absolutely love Lemon flavoured ... more

    Advantages Advantages Tasty

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite sweet

I'm sure that most people have a weak spot for something, and unfortunately, mine is for cakes, chocolate and all the things you shouldn't really eat. I am particularly fond of Mr Kipling Lemon Slices and this is what I shall be reviewing today. Firstly, let me tell you a little bit about the Mr Kipling brand. The company itself has been around since 1967. It is a major manufacturer of cakes, including apple pies, French Fancies, Lemon Slices and mini Battenbergs to name but a few, and is renowned for the slogan, 'exceedingly good' cakes. Since its humble beginnings, the Kipling brand has ... more

Advantages Advantages Tastes Delicious, Light And Not Overfilling

Disadvantages Disadvantages Plenty Of Sugar And Calories

When it comes to Cakes Mr Kipling is a name that I have come to trust and during a recent trip to Asda I purchased a packet of Mr Kipling Lemon Slices. It's been quite a while since I last tried these and my memory of what they tasted like was a little bit hazy with time, but I do recall that I liked them a lot, so I guessed that it was about time that I treated my taste buds to another Mr Kipling Lemon Slice experience. THE PRODUCT I paid £1.04 for a box which contained six individual slices. They come in a cardboard box which is predominantly yellow in colour with the Mr Kipling name clearly ... more

    Advantages Advantages Lovely Lemon taste

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive and Small

I do have to admit that I don’t have the sweetest tooth in the world and so I am not the biggest cake fan around but those made by Mr Kipling, they’re different aren’t they? They’re all just little bundles of tastiness! True? Read on. Mr Kipling was founded in 1967 and is now the market leader in cake retailing in the UK making an extremely wide range of baked desserts. They are apparently consumed in over 50% of households in the UK! This review will centre on one of their leading products though – lemon slices. The Product Manufacturers jargon – ... more

    Advantages Advantages Exceedingly good cakes...

    Disadvantages Disadvantages .

Does Mr Kipling really make exceedingly good cakes??! Well, to argue for this say hello to the Lemon Slice... Each box of slices comes with six of the little treats in three sealed packs of two, so ideal for lunchboxes and keeps them fresh. The cakes themselves are approximately three-inch strips of sponge with a "zesty lemon icing"...not my words, the words of the front of the packaging. But true to his word, Mr Kipling has produced a zesty lemon icing, which makes the slices both refreshing and flavoursome. The sponge is very light and not at all stodgy which is never appetising. The icing ... more
