    Advantages Advantages I love em

Disadvantages Disadvantages I'm trying to diet

Mr Kipling really does make exceedingly good cakes and one of my favourite has got to be his Mini Battenbergs. To be honest, I can remember a time in the not so distant past when I wouldn’t think twice about eating a whole normal sized Battenberg because I love them, but since New Year and the making of resolutions I’m going to have to stick to the mini’s and only eat them very occasionally. Yeah, I’m another person who has resolved to cut down on my rubbishy food intake and drop a couple of dress sizes. I bought my box of Mini Battenbergs just before Christmas at Asda ... more

    Advantages Advantages OK

Disadvantages Disadvantages (Computer). Many better alternatives.

Having had a (albeit small) conversation with Deano recently about theediscerning not being able to afford anything made by Mr Kipling - whether as a child in the impoverished South or as an even poorer "adult" in the, er, wherever you think he lives now - it was with gladness in his heart that he saw a box of ol' Kippo's Mini Battenbergs in a bag of leftover birthday party goodies he was given recently. To introduce you further to these consumerables, they come in boxes of five, in a box you will recognise as being Rudyard's namesakes' regular style. The "Exceedingly Good" allegation is to ... more

Advantages Advantages They did not cost me anything.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Overpowering flavour.

My husband won these as another prize in a raffle, so i cannot blame myself for purchasing them. They are price marked at £1.09, but i think this is a reduced price if purchases of other Mr KIpling products i have made are to be taken into account. #Packaging# The box has appetising pitures of the cakes on the front of the box. They do look very sugary and sweet which should have been a tip as to how much i would like them. The words Mr Kipling and 'exceedingly good cakes' are writen in large letters.( I bet Mr Kipling is as fed up of hearing that as Bernard Mathews is of Bootiful ).Sorry i ... more

Advantages Advantages Nicely priced. Nice flavour.

Disadvantages Disadvantages The almond paste is a bit sickly.

After being in my place of work for 6 years this year, I have finally decided to take a packed lunch in! I work at a Fun Fair and when we work the long hours (11am - 9pm yesterday), it can work out a small fortune buying your food. Even if we do get staff discounts! So, the previous evening I decided to do some shopping in Tesco and do myself a packed lunched up. I've never really been a regular buyer of Mr Kipling's cakes, but fancied them this time to take to work. I bought Mr Kipling 5 mini battenbergs. I paid £0.98p for these little treats. The cakes come in a red/orange coloured oblong ... more

As a child I would basically always have a packed lunch instead of school dinner, and each day in a little box I would find a cake of some sort. Usually this was a Mr Kipling cake. I am not sure why it was always this, but that's just the way it went. And one of my favorite choices was the Battenberg. Then, I would have a slab of the full size cake, but not too long ago I discovered the Mini Battenbergs... WHAT ARE THEY? The Mr Kipling Mini Battenbergs are just like the big ones. They have a lovely sponge centre which is of a pink and yellow checkered appearance, stuck together with a layer of ... more

Advantages Advantages Cake doesn't fall apart when cutting it.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Non.

I am not usually a fan of cakes and such like but this weekend I visited my Mum and Dad in Devon, they bought this cake as a treat for us all! The packaging~ Comes in rectangular cardboard in a pink background, with a picture of a piece of the battenberg cake clearly shown. The cake is made with free range eggs I truly am delighted they use free range as I always buy free range eggs myself as I think battery hens should be banned as the poor little dears suffer greatly! The cake~ The top layer is covered in sugary marzipan, whilst the bottom layer has pink and yellow sponge with almond paste ... more
