Bargain hunters rejoice

Advantages: Pocket friendly price tag
Disadvantages: Not the fastest scanner in the world

...having a sale and the Mustek 600 CP was a good price, £44.94. I had heard of Mustek's reputation for quality and reliability and thought this to be a bargain. On getting my brand new, shiny scanner home it was a doddle to set up and configure, just follow the instructions and you're there. Even the supplied software was easy to install - Textbridge and iPhoto Plus. The installation guide booklet is handy and gives step-by-step instructions on how ...
...for. To summerise, the Mustek 600 CP is an adequete scanner for most uses. It is affordable to most people and it does a fairly good job of it. If you can reach a little deeper into your pockets, you may want to spend a little more for a higher resolution USB scanner, if not, this one will do the job. ...

It was not a Mustek to buy it

Advantages: Cheap and reliable, good photo quality.
Disadvantages: Limited Photo editing software.

The Mustek 600 cp is the only scanner I have owned, not that it is the only scanner I have tried. I have tried many, but I keep sticking with my 600 cp. The main reason is Quality of picture, especially for the web, setting the resolution to 700 rather than the default 300. The scanning software interacts well with all other programs, even Macromedia, but I tend not to use the editing package that comes with it, as it is a little limited but that ...

Pros and Cons

Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, Easy to use
Disadvantages: old technology, not as fancy as newer models

We were given a Mustek 600 CP by my father in law when he upgraded his system. Who would want outdated hardware? I would simply say that this scaner is good for what it is, cheap and easy to use. Its picture quality is good, and it is easy to use. The software makes life simply, all you need to do is lift the scanner open and the memory resident software goes into action. I can be used instead of a fax machine, or as a scanner, I have used it ...

Mustek magic

Advantages: good quality, fast, cheap
Disadvantages: very average software, high resolution causes system crashes

Mustek 600 CPs scanners are a very good buy. I bought mine for less than £30 and it was worth every penny. The scan quality is excellent and it is fast and easy to use. It scans photos and postcards very, very well but it tends to struggle with magazines and newspapers which reflects the quality of these publications. It takes typically two to three minutes to scan a photograph in 600 dpi. This quality setting gives crystal clear scans at the same ...
...required it may need a higher quality setting which can cause crashes. You would be well advised to simply download the drivers from Mustek.com rather than use the software CD, as the scans work better and you can choose to use only Paint Shop Pro or similar for your image editing. Beware users of Windows ME and 2000, the CD software doesn't work, however the drivers from Mustek.com are good. ...

Good cheap scanning

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: A little slow

I bought a Mustek 600CP and I have had nothing but pleasure from it. The software was straightforward to install, the scanner plugged in and played, and it has worked well since. The quality of the scans is excellent - and the price of this scanner was remarkably cheap. I use the scanner to scan in photographs, and graphics and it works well on both. The photographs are really excellent and I use them on my web site. The software even enables you ...
...easy to do and very effective. The only problem is finding a printer of high enough quality to allow you to print out all these great scans now sitting on my machine. But then again, it is easier just to email them around or put them up on a website instead. ...
