Advantages: Cheap, easy to use Disadvantages: Software too simple
...went with that one, the Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB!
Appearance
Well, although not attractive it is very compact! Only marginally larger than an A3 sheet, I can't see how it could be any more space saving, well other than a vertical scanner I guess! Although it's a new model (based on the Mustek ScanExpress A3, non USB version!) it is only available in computer beige, so Mustek appear to be lagging behind a bit and missing the whole grey computer ... ...This is not the first Mustek A3 flatbed scanner I have had, it is infact the second. Although the previous scanner worked perfectly well for about 4 years, the problems started once my computer was upgraded to xp, suddenly the old scanner driver wasn't compatible. Not a problem in itself, but unbelievably no update was ever actually available, to put it bluntly it appears that Mustek had decided they were not going to write any more software to allow ...

Advantages: Good price for an A3 scanner Disadvantages: Image quality
This is an incredibly well priced budget scanner, to be able to purchase an A3 scanner for under £100 is excellent and for that reason I will give this product a good rating. However it is not the best quality. The scanner will not handle the scanning of negatives although the software will suggest this. But the images produced are of an acceptable level. I would say that they are only just acceptable a small Gaussian blur is required to clean lines. If scanning from magazines then this scanner is a lot of work. Please bear in mind that i havegiven this a good rating primarily ...

I have bought this scanner to use in my office, and I wish I had not. It is slow and the colours it produces are useless. I wanted it to scan and copy A3 colour maps that I had produced so I could print them out and send drafts to my clients, however this machine is now collecting dust as I have gone back to my Brother A4 scanner and have to fold the maps in half and stick together later.
Ordinary black pen comes out as purple, dark green pencil ... ...expect for this price? In this case absolute rubbish! I am so very disappointed in it. Does anyone make an A3 colour scanner at a reasonable price???
The only things it has going for it is that it is compact and light weight and relatively easy to use. ...

Quick review of Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB
I purchased the scanner for 12" x 12" scanning to run alongside an Epson 3170 Perfection. The speed, colour sensativity and ease of instalation are all poor, the resolution is acceptable. All in all a Cheap & Nasty Scanner ...
