Advantages Advantages Massive database of foods, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't work unless you are honest about what you eat

A couple of years ago, following the birth of baby number two, I decided that I needed to lose the baby weight (and, being brutally honest, the excess weight I’d been carrying since my pint-drinking student days). I successfully lost three stone following the Weightwatchers Online programme and, with this, one of the things I found most helpful was being able to track what I ate / how many points I had left for the day on an app on my phone. Since then, I have kept the majority of the weight off but still need to diet from time to time as I do find that if I eat ‘normally’ I end up slipping ... more

Advantages Advantages Useful at recording calorie intake.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not reliable in many ways

Before I begin to write this review, I want to express and point out that this application is not an IPHONE application, it is a PHONE application. The assumption that all applications are iphone applications angers me, as we have not all been swallowed into Apple's iphone craze. I have used this application on three different phones, all which have been android and I have been pleased with the process of this application throughout all. I have used this application on my old Samsung Galaxy S, the Samsung galaxy ace- which has a smaller screen, and now on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S. *Who ... more

5 Stars MyFitnessPal! Review with images 23/01/2012

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, can use if you don't have an iPhone, makes you realise what you eat

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can't keep track of nutrition, barcode scanner doesn't work too well

Every so often, I'll look in a full length mirror which kick starts a phase of wanting to lose a few pounds, eating healthily and doing exercise. This happened again recently and I had also gotten an iPhone so I went on a search of an app that could aid me in trying to lose some weight which is how I found 'MyFitnessPal'. MyFitnessPal is a tool used to keep track of how many calories you consume during the day as well as how many you burn off to help users lose or gain weight. I have used something like this before, but it wasn't as easy to use as this app has been. How To Use ItTo start off ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, simple, intuitive, great database

Disadvantages Disadvantages You find out what is actually in your favourite dish!

This free app is a weight losers dream. I have recently embarked on a light diet and have found this tool invaluable for helping me keep track of what I eat and how many calories it contains. It's a very easy app to use and navigation is largely intuitive. The main function is to be able to keep a diary of what you eat and keep track of calories. As a starting point, it asks you various questions about yourself (age, height, etc...), your lifestyle (exercise , sedentary work, etc...) and what you hope to achieve in terms of weight loss ad over what period of time. It then works out what your ... more

Advantages Advantages Tracks your calories, tracks your exercise, tells you when your over or under your daily aim

Disadvantages Disadvantages sometimes the measurements it uses are a bit strange, weight seems to be in kg for some versions

My fitness pal was free to download, as its an app, you can have it on your iphone or ipod, or blackberry. You may be able to have it on other devices, but I'm only listing those I personally know of and have seen it on. Unlike other apps, ie the weight watchers app, you do not need to be a member of anything or pay a subscription fee. There are no points, it is a simple as working out, with the use of the app, how many calories you should have a day to lose the weight you would like to lose, and then using the app to track your calories. Unlike other apps I have used, the varieties and amount ... more
