ME & JETHRO TULL - I 'AINT PULLING YOUR LEG! Review with images

AdvantagesOnce in a lifetime opportunity!

DisadvantagesAbsolutely none!

"...the chance to write about my 15 minutes of fame. Well, it's fame of sorts … The opportunity came 14 years ago when I called in at my local library one evening and got chatting to the new librarian This extremely enthusistic lady published a local magazine called 'The Lochalsh Link'. I had never heard of this magazine but when she showed me the first copy I was most impressed. We got chatting and I said that I loved to write - mainly for personal ..." Read review

Getting naked in Selfridges with Spencer Tunick

AdvantagesIt feels good and you want to do it again.

DisadvantagesNone at all!

"My art involves creating beautiful food that tastes delicious as well as looking great, so one day recently I was in a client’s kitchen occupying myself doing just that. As usual I had the radio on as a background and was pottering around getting lunch ready, when I heard the DJ announce something that made me stop in my tracks and take notice. I didn’t hear all he said, but the mention of volunteers for an upcoming nude photo shoot in Selfridges ..." Read review

I Was On Page Three Of The Sun...

AdvantagesErm... you tell me!

DisadvantagesAnd again!

" … but I was wearing my feminist dungarees! 1984 was the year of the miner's strike. It was also my first year as an undergraduate at Essex University. Much to my mother's chagrin, I'd chosen Essex over York, principally for its reputation as a left wing college. For a stroppy little teenager with agitprop ambitions, Essex turned out to be a good choice. Situated very near the East Anglian port of Wivenhoe, which was taking imported coal to help ..." One Down, 14 To Go

AdvantagesI'm in a national Music magazine

DisadvantagesIt doesn't really count, 'cause they spelt my name wrong

"...Sadly, up until recently, my brushes with fame have been infrequent, and never lasted long. The same is also true of my…no, that’s not relevant either! I seem to keep bumping into famous people you see. It all started with a brush with (then) Southampton Football Club Manager Lawrie McMenemy in a hotel in Spain in the Summer of 1976, when I fell over my own feet and he picked me up. My parents were mildly impressed. I was two, so I just bawled. In ..." Read review

Lets stand up and be counted

AdvantagesAn Abundance

Disadvantagesnone so far

"*~~~~~*~~~~~* I have started to voice my opinion on the way that the disabled people get get treated. *~~~~~*~~~~~~* How it all started. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Last october my husband purchased a motorised scooter for me, as I have been having problems with my mobility and it's getting worse so with the blessing from my doctor we went ahead and got one. All was fine until I got brave and decided to venture down the town and the obstacles ..." Read review

I was good once you know

AdvantagesGreat experience

DisadvantagesSwallowing the bitter pill of defeat

"...knew I had to include my own little plug about my time in the spotlight. 1988 I was 13 years old and in the 2nd year of comprehensive school when a flyer was passed around asking if people wanted to apply for a new television show called 'Young Krypton'. I thought I would give it a go. I was pretty high in my year when we took any tests, and I swam, ran and played netball for the county so I knew I was pretty fit. I received the application ..." In A Flap On The Rock

AdvantagesA possibility of public recognition and adulation

DisadvantagesA possibility of public shame and humiliation

"...discovery or repeating one of my favourites. There was the memorable evening in the Edinburgh Arms when I was drinking with a couple of friends and making flapping birds for them to give to their children. A crowd of sailors off an aircraft carrier came in and saw what I was doing. One of them asked if I would make him one to send home to his daughter. For my trouble he bought me a pint. Another asked the same favour – same payment. Then it snowballed. ..." Read review

Tannadice will never be the same again...

AdvantagesIt was the single greatest event in my entire life...

Disadvantages...which means it's downhill all the way from here!

"...winning. But then, it was my only chance to take part. I never thought for a minute it would actually come off. But it did. What am I talking about? Well, perhaps I should rewind a wee bit..... It all started two years ago when I first came across Football Aid, a new charity set up to raise funds for diabetes research - a cause I have a personal interest in (there's diabetes in both sides of my family, and my Granma died from it four years ..." How Not To Get On Television

AdvantagesI could have been a superstar by now

DisadvantagesBut I am not

"My 15 minutes of fame was actually about 15 nanoseconds (or whatever, please don’t correct me on what the actual measure of time should be called – I don’t really care!!) but it could have been so much more. I nearly made it onto primetime BBC 1 telly nestling alongside smiley Carol Smiley (metaphorically speaking of course!) …But instead I abused a BBC production guy and found myself nestling on the cutting room floor! Such is life… This op could ..." Read review

Now how could I let my birthday go by without posting an op?? Not eating today as its too dam hot so couldn't do a foodie op, washed but to be honest nothing is really keeping me dry and smelling sweet, drank too much to remember what it tasted like and to be honest am sh*t at anything else so ..." Not (just) a pretty face, you know

AdvantagesMy own CD & the trendy title...performing live on radio

DisadvantagesIf you'd have seen the newspaper photos, you'd understand

"...I was fifteen I wrote my first song. It wasn't brilliant, but at least from that things could only get better. I spent the Summer between GCSEs and A'levels wasting time playing my new keyboard and writing soppy little love songs about stuff I'd never experienced myself. I'd never taken music in school (I was an artiste and a writer, dahlink) but I sang all the time and played a couple of instruments (badly). Songwriting was great because it combined ..." Read review

MR ZEEMAN ON AIR

AdvantagesPutting faces to names.

DisadvantagesHaving to cope with putting faces to names.

"...was bra-less; argumentative; and supplementing my meagre income from part-time art lecturing, with payments from teaching short weekend/evening classes in any subject under the sun. Somebody asked me to run a 10-week Saturday morning "Controversial Women's Issues" course, in the main reference library in Liverpool. The sessions were to be widely advertised, in the press and on the local radio station, "Radio City", to attract as many punters as possible. ..." Read review

Can we forget about the 'Cubz in Drag' fiasco?

AdvantagesI can point at myself and say 'Look! There I am!'

DisadvantagesPeople get tired of me pointing at myself, saying 'Look! There I am!'

"I'll be honest, all my life, I have been struck with a desire to be recognisable to as many people as possible, but have never realised this. These days, I'm not so bothered, which will come as a relief to those friends of mine who have been unfortunate enough to have been with me in town when I spot a camera crew, and do my best to edge in to shot without appearing conspicuous (Tip for would-be scene-stealers: Cause a commotion in the town centre, ..." Will you start the fans please...!

AdvantagesMeeting Richard O'Brien

DisadvantagesDamn it was cold

"...me to demonstrate one of my Katas (a sequence of moves against an imaginary opponent, almost like learning a dance). Anyone who does Karate will know that that is no mean feat in a room which is about 8ft square with 5 people already sitting in it!!! They obviously enjoyed it because I was invited back to Manchester for a second session, this time in a team situation. I was gutted because they asked me to do a Rubik's Cube, which to this day I don't ..." Read review

Hey, I'm Walking Here

AdvantagesGives you something to talk about.....

Disadvantages......again and again and again

"...a very long opinion, because my “Fifteen Minutes Of Fame” wasn’t even fifteen minutes in length, unless you count the following day’s aftermath. I’ve never subscribed to the “Hallo Mum” school of thought that says any appearance in the media is to be pursued and encouraged. In fact, I once told a film crew to get stuffed and in the doing, inconvenienced them. I was returning to my car which I had parked at the far end of a cul-de-sac in Ealing, ..." Read review
