Advantages Advantages Some good insight into his childhood

Disadvantages Disadvantages Could have been a million times better

It seems with most comedians it is customary for them to divide public opinion. There are very few though that can manage to create the levels of love and hate that Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle seems to be able to achieve. For me though I’ve always really enjoyed his appearances on Mock the Week and his Stand up so his autobiography sounded like something I would really enjoy reading. As with all good autobiographies Frankie separates each part of his life into 16 chapters. In each of these chapters he gives a real insight into his life so far and in particular the first half of the book ... more

Advantages Advantages Funny, honest, rude and sometimes profound

Disadvantages Disadvantages Rude but in a fair way

In a nutshell: As the title suggests, this autobiography by comedien Frankie Boyle is not for the easily offended. He revels in the outrageous. However, I truly believe that if you get over your squeamishness, Boyle has a lot to offer and not just in a comedic sense. In fact, comedy is secondary to the shameless outlook he has on life which cuts through insincere social etiquette to reveal truths. The Review This is a hilarious-rude-shocking-endearing-confusing-witty-admirable autobiography by a comedien who has taken the subversive capacity of comedy to the extremes. Boyle has said that he ... more

    Advantages Advantages well written, funny

Disadvantages Disadvantages none unless you don't like crude jokes

I've bought or been given a few autobiographies in my time and generally found them a bit boring. I think Frankie Boyle is a great comedian so I thought I'd give his autobiography a try, hoping that I wouldn't be disappointed by it and I certainly wasn't. This is probably the most entertaining, page turning autobiography you'll ever read - the way he writes and the amusing anedotes really give what is essentially a normal persons life story (until of course he begins to get famous) a bit of a boost and help to liven things up. Frankie is probably best know for being the comedian on Mock the ... more

    Advantages Advantages funny, unique

    Disadvantages Disadvantages crude

The title says it all basically, the ever pessimistic, Scottish comedian lets us take a peek into his life and lets us see the world through his 4 eyes. I love his thoughts and views on everything as nothing can stop him for going on a rant about something he feels is passionately right or wrong. He is so unique to other comedians in that he doesnt have boundaries and happily sits and makes fun of everybody and everyone but most of all himself and his home country Scotland. It makes for a fantastic book as he explores some ideas that would not even stroll into any of our minds. You definately ... more
