Advantages: Looks very nice and stylish Disadvantages: buttons have started to wear
The NEC DB2000 is a very nice looking phone, especially for the time it was made. It has a silver faceing, black curved edges and black buttons which all look extremely nice together.
The phone itself has a good menu, and a seperate button to get to the phone book which is very handy. It has a retractable aerial which is very useful if you have a weak signal, bring it up and you get a better one! However, i have noticed over the past couple of months ... ...harder to get a reaction on the phone, so this might be something to be careful about.
You also have different ringtones for up to 20 people, so if you want to know who it is calling, just set up a ring tone so that you know when they are ringing and you know how fast to run to the phone!
It has a nice little vibrate feature for when you are in that silent environment, saves everyone looking at you when your phone rings! It also has a LED indicator ...

Advantages: Good phone, vibrate alert. Disadvantages: Weaker than an old womans dodgy hip!
I bought this phone in a package and was very impressed with the features, the ease of use, the hands free kit is excellent and a vibrate alert is also very useful. The batery life was impressive too, I rarely turn it off so this is one of my main needs as is reliability. This is however where the phone fell down the main disadvantage with it was not clear until I had had the phone for several months. I'm not particularly hard on my phones and treat ... ...my pocket to answer a call when I placed the phone to my ear it cut out and I also got a pain in my foot. Microwaves scrambling my nervous system making me deaf and giving me limb pain ....... NO the battery fell off. This was because the clip was exposed and made of weak plastic since then I have had several problems with it not just the keys sticking or not working but the clip coming off another 2 times after fixing. Advantages: User Friendly, Features Disadvantages: Reception, Faulty Software.
I have owned one of these little phones for a year and a half. This was my 2nd phone on One 2 One and was actually an improvement on my Motorola C520, which I used for 1 week.
I’m not going to be too sceptical, because I don’t think people realise that a bad Network and phone combination can make things worse.
When I first saw the DB2000, it was very original and pretty in design and very compact even compared to the latest phones now.
... ...friendly than Nokia 3210(which I hate), Motorola C520, Ericsson T20 and Samsung SGH600 which are all phones that I have used. The message menu and settings work brilliantly and the screen size is perfect for the mobile user.
The battery life lasts for about 3-4 days when on standby, which is more than adequate. This phone has all the functions that I like, vibrate, a good selection of tones and so on.

...so I resorted to contacting NEC direct. In spite of the fact that I had no insurance they sent a courier the same day to collect the phone from my office. Two days later they called to say that they couldn't mend it and would therefore give me a new one. This they biked to me the same day.
Slightly worrying that the phone gave up on me after such a short space of time but full marks to NEC for their customer service. ...

...take up the problem with NEC who told me that the fault was nothing to do with them, but to do with my network provider. My network provider told me to contact my manufacturer, and on it went. Even though my phone is under 1 years gaurantee, NEC will not replace the phone. However, i do know of a friend who had his phone updated by NEC after frequent complaints, and a letter to head office, so dont give up hope. ...
I have used quite a few mobiles over the last couple of years, but this was the first one I had actually bought myself (the others being supplied by work) and so I did a lot of research into the various products available.
My main requirements were battery life, size and weight.
This phone easily meets all of these with a battery that I have to charge about every 5-6 days, it may look longer than the competition but this is made up for by the thickness ... ...without a problem and as it's so light it isn't a problem to carry even in a shirt pocket.
As for the robustness, it has survived a couple of drops (admittedly it came to pieces but they are quickly put back together as nothing actually broke) and works everytime. The aerial can be a bit flimsy, but this is true of any phone with a retractable aerial.
The quality of reception is excellent but the aerial helps in bad areas, and reception abroad ...
Advantages: Good looking and now very resonably priced. Disadvantages: Bad speaker quality.
...although of course being an NEC model means you won’t get any of the familiar Nokia ones, although this phone does have a vibrate feature. There is also the ability to set different ring tones for different people so you know who is calling without even looking at the phone. Battery life competes well with other phones in its class although differs remarkably under different conditions and thus is hard to quantify. A possitive feature for an ... ...be hooked us to a computer with the appropriate cable. The only real problem I had with this phone was speaker quality. When I spoke to people on the phone their voices could sound distorted and there was sometimes background noise.
I still hold this phone in high regard and as it is given way free these days and as part of good value packages I think that it is definitely worth a look although I know it is getting on a bit now. ...

I wanted this phone as soon as I saw it for its stylish and sexy looks. With its silver casing, black sides and back and black buttons the phone looks better than a lot of phones on the market today and is very original. The phone is compact and very slim but holds a whole host of facilities. The other good thing about the phone is that not everyone you see has it held to their ear! Although this phone has a quite robust appearance and some great feautures it has a fault. This is due to the battery click on the back of phone. More or less everybody I know with this phone ( and that's a lot of people) have returned it for that common problem. ...offer I bought was the NEC DB2000 phone from The Link, with one2one pay as you go service for £50. This £50 included £30 of free calls (i.e. They gave me an additional £30 of credit when I credited my own £30).
THIS WAS A TOTAL BARGAIN as the phone has a silent vibrating alert, the only other phone I know of that rivals the deal I got is the Phillips Savvy for about £40, but it looks daft and I should imagine every kid got one for Christmas!!

The NEC DB2000 is a very stylish phone: slim, light, silver.
It has a large screen, which is very useful for reading and writing SMS messages. It's functionality is also very good, with a thorough menu.
It also has a vibrate function which is very useful and saves a lot of embarrasment in those certain situations.
A seperate button for the address book comes in very handy aswell.
However there are also quite a few bad points about this nice looking ... ...a plain white button.
It is VERY delicate, a slight knock, or even a bounce in your pocket, causes a sim failure, which is very annoying. Also, after a while the buttons need to be pressed really hard, especially the ones at the top, which happens to be the accept button and then phone book button.
And it does not have any games.
When I first bought this phone I was very pleased with it,

Have found this phone great with a pretty decent battery life, generally charge it every three of four days and get a fair amount of talk time out of it. Can manage about 40 minutes on low battery warning.
Its not as flashy as some of the newer phones but it is easy to use and still has the option of using different ringtones for different callers - admittidly there are not a huge amount of ring tones, but I have always managed fine. The vibrate ... ...a nice noise if you leave it on something metal!
It is easy to use without lots of menu navigations and mine has stood up to many droppings on the floor well!
Reception can be imroved further with a small retractable arial although I have very rarely needed to use this - getting pretty good reception normally. ...

this phone is very cheap at the moment, especially when bought online. And it appears to be a quite pretty phone...ok, it doesnt compete with the nokia 8210 and never will. so if you are looking for a cheap phone, fair enough! here it is!
but it has some pitfalls, it is not the sturdiest of phones. I have known three (not all mine!) of these phones that have had the battery clip broken...and needed either bluetak or sellotape to keep the battery ... ...am on one2one which isnt great but after putting my chip in another phone (the erricson T10) the reception improved dramatically.
the aerial is flimsy looking, and actually flimsy! and the fact that the aerial extends makes this phone feel a bit dated.
the buttons quickly become sticky and need a good push to get working, which means to end a call you need to push the button several times.
i have found battery life to be ok with this phone, thogh ...

The NEC DB 2000 comes with a slimline silver fascia which I most definitely approve of, the screen is clear and has excellent back illuminatio. The number buttons are clear and tactile however their colour slightly spoils the aesthetic of the phone which is still impresive. The call quality is slightly changeable indoors and often suffers from mild interfernce. The features on the phone are useful if unspectacular, ther are no frivolities like games ...
