When its good its very,very good...

Advantages: Call and reception quality, bright easy to read screen, good battery life for a 3G phone, outstanding value for money as part of PAYG 3 package.
Disadvantages: A little bigger than I was recently used to, battery cuts out with VERY little warning, Idiosyncratic menus and instructions.

...queue was all for the NEC e616v. for the buy of the year.. I paid cash and a twenty minute wait for mine -at the prinvly sum of....£44.95...£44.95??? YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!! Well , I am and that included 50 minutes of air time and £5 worth of access to 3 services. So after getting it home,what had I got for a near blind impulse purchase? One Handset, One standard battery (1100mah) and one Extended Battery (1800mah) One SIM package Charger,headphones, ...
...software. Full instuctions. After inserting the SIM and placing the phone on charge (2-3 hrs for the Extended Battery and 1-2 hrs for the Standard Battery), the moment of truth. I turned on the handset, to be greeted by a bright snappy colour display which was a little confusing at first, this was cured by several reads of the instruction manual. And the first call went through to a friend's mobile who was on 3. Despite me living in a borderline ...

The NEC is a winner

Advantages: Really cheap multi function phone
Disadvantages: the 3 network, no MP3 ringtone

...I found the NEC as an offer for £30 a month, one year contract with the first 10 months free...yes 10 months of a one year contract free. I worked out with this deal I would get all my calls and texts for a year for £60 PLUS the flip phone of my dreams. I read every review I could find on this phone and found none detailing anything other than sulking ex-Nokia users or folk moaning about the battery life. Well....I've never used a Nokia anyway and ...
...my old Panasonic as the NEC allows you to use full stops, commas and question marks....in fact a lot of symbols without having to do handstands...!!! I can set each of my number entries to show me a photo of who I'm calling which is really handy for me as I cannot read the text without my reading glasses so the picture that gets displayed is an absolute boon to me. I have no desire to use the internet so that feature means little to me as do a lot ...

A Brick Of A Phone

Advantages: Good photos, Only a few months to go before I can get rid of it
Disadvantages: The size, The videos are only 11 seconds long

...made my boyfriend want the NEC E616 instead. ~The Handset.~ It’s a flip up front (also know as a clam shell) which makes it look nice. Its silver in colour, with there logo ‘3’ network on the right hand side. You have a small front display screen, which displays, Time & Date, Signal 3G network - which indicates if you are in the ‘3’ video service area, ‘3’ service connection and global positioning service. It will display a message if the phone ...
...about 5 minutes the first time it bleeped to work out where it was coming from). It also displays if you have any text messages, and caller ID when someone rings. At the bottom on the front of the phone you have a camera light(suppose it comes in handy if you ever have a power cut, other than that I don’t see the point), camera, and LED indicator. On the side of the phone you can adjust the volume with the up and down keys. I have also discovered ...

Is it a brick, is it a Rock, no it's a NEC E616

Advantages: Internet and Camera
Disadvantages: Huge, Hard to Use

~~~Intro~~~ I bought this phone a month before Christmas from a friend for £20 and by the time Christmas came I was glad to replace it. The phone is a flip phone with many features. ~~~Looks~~~ The phone itself is not ugly looking; it has a sleek and stylish inside (where the buttons and screen are) they are arranged neatly with the navigation circle surrounded by other buttons. But by far the main complaint of the looks is the size it is the ...
...in your back pocket. The measurements of the phone are roughly: Closed: Width: 100mm Height: 35mm Depth: 50mm Open: Width: 190mm ~~~Weight~~~ With a big phone comes a heavy weight after weighing it I realised it weighed 152 grams which doesn't seem very much but to compare I weighed my new phone (Samsung E720) which weighed only 83 grams, Which is nearly halve the weight. The specification of the phone says it weighs 131 grams but ...
CORKER XMAS DEAL FROM '3'
Advantages: Excellent Price -Fun package deal
Disadvantages: Tad bigger than most clamshells
...the proud owner of a NEC e616v for 5 days, what do I think ? WELL - - my first impression on opening the box (bearing in mind I own a cute little Samsung Clamshell) was its size, this phone is somewhat bigger than I'm used to even though its described as a slimline clamshell design , it's still a bit bigger than I had expected but I guess it has to be when you see what it is capable of. - battery charged etc...(of which you get two due to higher ...
...thinking to myself 'where do I start with this phone, so much seems to be going on here' but what a suprise I got when I found it was rather easy to navigate around and within minutes I was taking pictures and mini movies of almost everything I could - it has two cameras so you can take a mug shot of yourself or one of whoever is in front of you. GREAT ! -mmmmm, wot do I get for the £15 credit that comes with it - well, on trying to make my first ...
Nec 616 released before it was ready?
Advantages: Great user interface, easy to use
Disadvantages: Very poor battery performance even worse customer services
...Phone I got the NEC 616 on the 3 network after consulting with a couple of other owners of the hand set. I decided to take the plunge and pulled myself away from my existing service provider, whom I had been with for many years. I have had many mobile phones over the years and normally change them every 12 months. The handset arrived bright and breezy they day after I ordered it. It was very nicely packaged. It cam with the following Nec e616 ...
...their own ringtunes (that’s what Nec call ringtones), you can even set different text tones for them, it also goes in the detail of having the front light flashing different colours, probably completely useless but it was nice to see such attention to detail. Another thing which I found a pleasure to use was the text messaging system. The predictive text is T9 found on many mobile phones. 3 does not support cross network multi media messaging. As ...
SOME SAY BRICK!! SOME SAY COOL!!
Advantages: Come's with so much technology, its anything but a phone
Disadvantages: Bit big, new network can have less coverage in selected areas
...sake, u can easily forgive NEC for the slightly bigger size. The reception is great when in signal range, but as the company is still new and in early days, there isn’t as larger signal range, so you may find yourself in some blank spots at time to time. One other issue, and probably the biggest talked about, is the way credit is used and put on your phone. The minimum amount allowed to be transferred onto your phone is £15, and even then you have ...
...on. Then to top it off, any credit you have not used after a month of having the credit on your phone, 3G will reclaim this. The rules are strict, and people should consider this before buying this phone. When people have a pop at my phone at the size etc, I just show them the fantastic features that none of their phones possess, and they go away feeling like they picked the wrong phone to argue with. Seriously people, if you can still get this ...
Wow what a phone!
Advantages: Excellent value for money
Disadvantages: Have to use the credit within 30 days
Those of you that have read my previous reviews on mobiles will know that I somewhat of a mobile freak and change them like I change my underwear (not not actually! LOL). This is my latest toy and absolutely love it. I was given my birthday present early by my parents and decided to buy the latest gadget phone from 3. I'd seen it advertised on the t.v and in shops and couldn't believe my surprise when I went to buy it at The Link it had come down ...
...slightly bigger than the average phone but not as heavy. Well where do I start. Its on the 3 network and connects fast by using the dedicated triangle key. 3 are doing a special gift pack with the phone where if you buy the phone with £15 air time you get free goals, free videos, rent games from as little as 50p. With the £15 air time part of that is £5 credit to do with it what you want, ie. text messages etc. which is mainly what I use it for ...
Advantages: the price & that really is it
Disadvantages: where do i start
I really have no idea where to start on this phone it was a huge mistaking buying it it was one of those impulse buys when you where flush & now you are left thinking why on earth didnt i take it back ! ...to prove that it was such a bargain . What a mistake i made. I feel now that £45 i spent could have been spent on a million & one better things ! THE DEAL The phone seemed so attractive as you also got £15 credit so i thought thats even better till you realise its all broken down into sections so it feels like you have a contract phone you get 50mins talk time to any network which is quite good when you can actually get a signal! & the rest is ...
Amazing Value for money!!!!
Advantages: Cost £45 with £15 credit, high quality pictures and videos!
Disadvantages: Its huge!!!! And the battery life is very short, must recharge every night!
...too. The solution? The NEC E616. I've had it a few months now and I have to say that I am pretty impressed with it, not that its perfect but what do you expect at £30? The battery gets annoying, it does have a tendency to just run out without much notice, so when going out at night, I sometimes have to charge my phone up twice to ensure I'm not stuck when I need a taxi later that night... and also this phone was much bigger than I had been used ...
...screen! Its awesome! Transferring is done with a USB cable that is also supplied with the package for ONLY £30!!!!! Its just a great bargain!!!!! So..... IF you're strapped for cash, don't mind the size and desperately want a new phone, the NEC E616 is perfect for YOU!!! ...
The NEC E616, you'll either love it or hate it
Advantages: Tons of features, cool camera, cheap
Disadvantages: Bad price plan, a bit bulky
I initially bought this phone because of the price and didn't really take into account any of the features it had to offer. When I got it home and charged it up I was like 'wow, its like a little computer' and was instantly impressed with the screen quality. I found it could do everything any of the more expensive phones could do if not better, and was incredibly impressed with the fact that I could uplaod my own ringtones from the PC along with ...
I like the user ID photo you get when making a call and the video calling is a really cool feature, although I only do one or two minutes at a time, it is really good quality like a web cam! I believe you can add memory sticks to turn it into an MP3 player, although ...
is it even worth £30?
Advantages: LOTS of features, good cameras, mp3 player, SD card slot
Disadvantages: extremely complicated to start out with, unreliable
The phone starts off by looking ok, very big and bulky compared to 'normal' 2g phones, and noticably heavier. It has 2 cameras, one on the front and one just above the screen for video calling, you can switch between these easily in camera mode. They are both good quality, but not a patch on Sharp's GX series. The battery life is, well rubbish. You could literally watch the battery life diminish as you play and mp3 or make a call, even navigating ...
...The phone has lots of buttons, and positioned very far apart in very awkward positions, making navigation hard to get used to. It has GPS, MP3, MP4 support and a useful SD card slot in the side to upload files onto, sounds pretty good if you could get the thing to work, then find out how to use it. The screen has high quality, again not as good as sharps/samsungs but easily readable and good for playing music videos which you can get from the '3' ...
