Advantages: Easy to use, reliable, can be wall mounted Disadvantages: It died in a lightning storm :-( but not totally dead
...the time) and bought a Netgear DG834G (wireless version) for £70 and put the old one in the cupboard with all my other junk.
One day I decided to have a clear out of my old stuff, so I took it out the cupboard again and thought I would try it just to make sure it didn't work. I plugged it in, the lights came on as normal but the computers still wouldn't connect to anything. I was just messing with the cat5 cables and I plugged one cable from the ... ...if I could indirectly access the old one through the new one, no joy. So I left the two routers connected to each other and plugged a computer into the old one again, and I found out that it worked as a switch! It would not do anything on its own but when connected to another router I could plug things into it and I could access the internet and with that setup I get 3 additional ports which is useful. So I kept it and I still use it in that way.

Advantages: Easy to setup, Fast, looks good, 4 wired ports, web based configurator Disadvantages: Doesnt have wireless, but hey, its not a wireless Router!
I bought this whilst at uni to share the 512k ADSL line in our student house. It has 4 RJ45 ports on it and one incoming WAN port that plugs into you phone line. It comes supplied with microfilter and 1 Cat5e patch cable.

Advantages: High speed, Quick Setup, Affordable Disadvantages: None
I got this netgear adsl modem gateway router in march 2007. I got it for the great price of £18 including postage. It was so easy to setup just plugged it in and it did most of the config itself. Detected isp settings, set up routing to me wireless access point and that was that setup up in under 5mins. I found that it improved the speed of my internet connection despite the fact that i have 3 computers and a wireless access point, i got speeds of ... ...which used to seem like 3mb.
It also feature gaming mode which if you play a game which requires high bandwidth it automatically assigns 50% of the bandwidth to the pc that requires the most amount of bandwidth.
Great for gamers, even better for big downloads and mini office and home.
Great! ...
