Advantages: stylish, robust, wide range of features, WiFi and wired connectivity Disadvantages: drops connection during lightning storms, manual slim on advanced features
...I should note that my Netgear router has v2 on the bottom of it - version 2 in case that makes a difference. The model number is the same though. ***
There are a number of machines (laptops mostly) which knock around in my rented flat, and a couple of years ago, I was looking for a decent ADSL router which would meet the bill.
This isn't the first one I bought - but I soon got rid of the other one and replaced it with this one, and have been ...

Advantages: Never let me down, small footprint Disadvantages: Can't think of a single one
This is going to be short as, to be honest, I'm struggling to think about what I can write about it. I'll stick to personal experience and usage but as it's been so problem free, I think I'll struggle there as well.

The router is sleek and minimalist. White in colour, it a has a row of flashing icon leds along the front to show what's working and what mightn't be. There is a small, stubby aerial on the back which is multi-directional.

Netgear Review
In my house, there are 3 PC's and I needed a better way to Network these together. As an AOL member, this was not to be an easy task.
However, I discovered this Router on AOL's Website and decided to look into it.
The main Reason I brought this Hardware is because it has an integrated ADSL Modem.
It has 4 ports. Onboard is a Hardware Firewall with two types of protection. It also has 'Wi-Fi'. This basically lets you surf ...

Perfect for any Home Network Review ofNETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless routerby
DvDaf
I decided to consider purchasing a wireless router when my home network began to expand, it was becoming a problem with fellow family members needing to use the Internet all at once. Having more than three computers, and only one computer having internet access was abysmal. I therefore decided to invest in a wireless router, as two of the laptops already had integrated wifi support, their was no additional need to invest in wireless USB dongles etc. ...

...no longer officially supported by NETGEAR now that v2 is out.
The router defaults to no encryption, and no access list, but has support for an access list, 64-bit and 128-bit WEP encryption, and WPA-PSK. All of these work well, though WPA is obviously recommended. The latest update also added support for VPN, which may be useful for some people. Another fault with this router however is that it is quite awkward to set up things an average user ...

...asked for their recommendation. The Netgear DG834G was the salesman's recommendation. It cost £50 and has been one of the better purchases I have made. My desk top PC and now my son's laptop use the same router and the wireless signal has never failed. We do not suffer from connectivity issues and trust the routers security to protect us from freeloaders and hackers. I would personally recommend this router type over those supplied by service providers. ...

Advantages: Range and Speed Disadvantages: Overheats
The Netgear router is an essential piece of kit for anyone setting up wireless networks at home. I run the router directly to my PC, and then another PC and a laptop run off it wireless. The router has a fantastic range, and it also so easy to use. I currently use Pipex broadband, and there has never been any conflict with the internet gateway. From setting the router up 6 months ago to now, I have only had one problem with it, and that was the heat ...

When we got it home it looked very simple to install, but when it actually came to installing it, it didnt seem to want to. We phoned technical support who suggested that we take it back to where we purchased it to see if we could get a replacement - which we did ...

Bought in place of a BT Homehub which was getting troublesome. Had some problems that were nothing to do with the router (BT fault), but Netgear support staff were very helpful. Once the fault was fixed the router worked perfectly, just sits in the corner doing it's job. Great piece of kit from a very helpful company.
