This 802.11g wireless router adds considerable power and flexibility to your network. Five products in one, it combines an ADSL modem, router, 10/100 LAN switch, 802.11g access...
more...point, and SPI True Firewall. It gives you untethered continuous connectivity to your network resources and the Internet, and allows you to share your broadband access with all of your networked computers wireless or with wires using Ethernet cables. Featuring high-speed 802.11g wireless capability - up to five times faster than 802.11b - it allows you to download large files, videoconference, and distribute and play high-quality digital movies, photos, and MP3s in the blink of an eye. Simple to use, it plugs directly into your ADSL line. An integrated switch lets you directly connect four computers or any combination of four computers, access points or printers. Setup couldn't be easier - NETGEAR's Smart Wizard install assistant and on-screen help guide you through each step. The Smart Wizard automatically detects and makes the best connection to your ISP. True Firewall protects your network with business-class security against intruders, including logs and alerts of break-in attempts, while VPN pass-through makes it safe to connect to your business network from home or office. The contemporary, sleek design of this unit suits your home or office. The DG834G gives you instant connectivity with or without wires, and works with your existing 802.11b devices as well as your new 54 Mbps 802.11g devices. A built-in ADSL modem furnishes direct, always-on Internet connectivity and multi-user access sharing at speeds up to 140 times faster than dial-up. This powerful router distributes MP3s, digital movies and photos with ultra-fast 10/100 switched LAN ports capable of speeds of 200 Mbps, and shares a single IP address with up to 253 users. And, it boasts double the memory and a 50% faster CPU than many popular routers. No need for a separate modem - this connects directly into your ADSL line. Built-in Port Forwarding settings, Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) pass-through make it simple to play Internet games, send instant messages, and host Internet services. User interface matches your local language (English, French, German or Italian). It supports PCs, Macintosh, and virtually all Ethernet devices, and comes with an Ethernet cable for connecting your first computer. True Firewall using Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and Intrusion Control features Denial of Service protection from hacker attacks, while VPN (Virtual Private Network) pass-through permits secure access to your office or corporate network and enables you to host VPN services. Content filtering lets you control access to inappropriate web sites and limit usage by time of day. Logs browsing activities and provides optional e-mail alerts so you can monitor access. DMZ support allows unrestricted access from the Internet to one computer (for hosting web services).

Netgear DG834G v2 - lovely piece of kit
Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by gtsang123

Advantages: stylish, robust, wide range of features, WiFi and wired connectivity
Disadvantages: drops connection during lightning storms, manual slim on advanced features

...I should note that my Netgear router has v2 on the bottom of it - version 2 in case that makes a difference. The model number is the same though. *** There are a number of machines (laptops mostly) which knock around in my rented flat, and a couple of years ago, I was looking for a decent ADSL router which would meet the bill. This isn't the first one I bought - but I soon got rid of the other one and replaced it with this one, and have been ... Read review

Today, I am coming to you via.....
Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by dhillcrest

Advantages: Never let me down, small footprint
Disadvantages: Can't think of a single one

This is going to be short as, to be honest, I'm struggling to think about what I can write about it. I'll stick to personal experience and usage but as it's been so problem free, I think I'll struggle there as well. Looks ------- The router is sleek and minimalist. White in colour, it a has a row of flashing icon leds along the front to show what's working and what mightn't be. There is a small, stubby aerial on the back which is multi-directional. Setup ------ The ... Read review

Netgear Review In my house, there are 3 PC's and I needed a better way to Network these together. As an AOL member, this was not to be an easy task. However, I discovered this Router on AOL's Website and decided to look into it. The main Reason I brought this Hardware is because it has an integrated ADSL Modem. It has 4 ports. Onboard is a Hardware Firewall with two types of protection. It also has 'Wi-Fi'. This basically lets you surf ... Read review

Perfect for any Home Network
Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by DvDaf

Advantages: Wireless Networking, File Transfering, Remote Administration
Disadvantages: N/A

I decided to consider purchasing a wireless router when my home network began to expand, it was becoming a problem with fellow family members needing to use the Internet all at once. Having more than three computers, and only one computer having internet access was abysmal. I therefore decided to invest in a wireless router, as two of the laptops already had integrated wifi support, their was no additional need to invest in wireless USB dongles etc. ... Read review

Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by mwaddoups

Advantages: Nice looking, quite good range, good amount of features
Disadvantages: Often some connection problems, hard to set up for an average user

...no longer officially supported by NETGEAR now that v2 is out. The router defaults to no encryption, and no access list, but has support for an access list, 64-bit and 128-bit WEP encryption, and WPA-PSK. All of these work well, though WPA is obviously recommended. The latest update also added support for VPN, which may be useful for some people. Another fault with this router however is that it is quite awkward to set up things an average user ... Read review

...asked for their recommendation. The Netgear DG834G was the salesman's recommendation. It cost £50 and has been one of the better purchases I have made. My desk top PC and now my son's laptop use the same router and the wireless signal has never failed. We do not suffer from connectivity issues and trust the routers security to protect us from freeloaders and hackers. I would personally recommend this router type over those supplied by service providers. ... Read review

I just had one laptop in my house and decided to go wireless so I could move it about easier. This router is great. 54 Mbps is loads more than I need. Its small and looks good and has a really good range. you can connect up to 4 devices and it comes with the latest security options to make it extra secure including the latest, WPA2/PSK I've never setup a router before and it was no easy task. It Should Be Netgear Everytime
Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by leecurran

Advantages: Range and Speed
Disadvantages: Overheats

The Netgear router is an essential piece of kit for anyone setting up wireless networks at home. I run the router directly to my PC, and then another PC and a laptop run off it wireless. The router has a fantastic range, and it also so easy to use. I currently use Pipex broadband, and there has never been any conflict with the internet gateway. From setting the router up 6 months ago to now, I have only had one problem with it, and that was the heat ... Read review

this netgear wireless router is the best way of connecting to the internet that i have found. I used to have a sagem f@st 800, but this was very unreilable, so i decided to purchase this. Quick review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router
Review of NETGEAR DG834G 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router - wireless router by mart166

Bought in place of a BT Homehub which was getting troublesome. Had some problems that were nothing to do with the router (BT fault), but Netgear support staff were very helpful. Once the fault was fixed the router worked perfectly, just sits in the corner doing it's job. Great piece of kit from a very helpful company.
