    Advantages Advantages Great community support, simple to use, cheap

    This device comes in 3 ways. no drive 500gb drive 1tb drive Quite often Netgear are offering a FREE drive , so allways check out before you purchase. Looks- the Design is black all the way round, its very slim and small with attractive blue lights to show if its on , and HD activity. (not recommended to be placed in a bedroom, unless u like a light show). Unfortunatly It is VERY LOUD, the fan on the back is large and makes quite abit of noise, especially on boot.     Advantages Advantages versatile robust chassis

    Disadvantages Disadvantages hard to justify cost if you are just using it to back up data

    Recently acquired a ReadyNAS Duo with 2x 1TB drives in. I found the device incredibly versatile - this is not just a NAS. It is a sign of what is to come - a low power, incredibly versatile box of tricks which sits quietly (except during boot up) in a corner somewhere chugging away. I haven't used it to its full potential yet - but I do have it setup to download all my movies/music using an NZB and Torrent plugin. I also installed MRTG which allows me to view traffic graphs from my home network. As a backup device alone - this is not a good product. Its not trivial to get going, the interface ... more
