...feared. I already had a Netgear Router (albeit the wired variety) so I only needed to purchase a wireless access point and plug that into the router to make that end of the concern wireless. My console was taken care of which meant all I needed to complete the transition was a wireless adapter or PCI card to plug into the PC. I knew that I wanted to stick with Netgear as I feared compatibility problems should I dare to mix my wireless brands! After ... ...the Netgear WG111 USB wireless network adapter (henceforth to be known as the dongle). The appeal of this particular dongle was two fold - first - it was a compact little piece of equipment (about the size of a cigarette lighter) and second - it plugged straight into a USB 2.0 port, negating the need to open up the computer and install a card. What's in the box?
Opening the package revealed the boxed dongle and assorted accessories. ...

At first I was skeptical, not that I could work ... At home my phone is fixed on the ground floor and the pc the first floor. I have to spend a lot of money to get internet (cable or wireless equipment expensive) when I informed about the possibility of exploiting or not the wireless modem on my phone, I said that enough to buy this stick from 40 € (30 £).
To my pleasure I have verified that it works perfectly, I never drop the phone line, the installation ... ...PC automatically searches for the signal and if the modem is turned on it connects: done.

...went out and bought the NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter for just a fraction of the price more. It installed very easily, it looks great and you can still plug it at the back of your pc in any USB port. I use the long USB cable provided and the holding case to stuck it on the side of my desk where I can achieve better reception.

Advantages: Good download speed, quick and easy to set up Disadvantages: Ovrheating, and bad uploading speeds (for games)
The price may look big at first but it is good value for money. It only takes a matter of minutes to set up and the installation facility can be introduced in many different languages. The only downside I have ever found with this product is extreme over heating if you leave it plugged in for too long. This can eventually lead to damage of the circuit boards which happened to mine so in a year you might have to get a replacement. I have had this ...

Advantages: Cheap and Stable Once Running Disadvantages: Shipped Drivers May Cause XP Conflict
The software disc this Dongle shipped with caused a logon conflict with XP service pack 2. On Netgear's forum, it does seem to be a known conflict. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the conflict when I first loaded the drivers. So, after installing the software, I was unable to boot into Windows normally and had to go into safe mode to find a fix on the net.
Once up and running, this Dongle provided a stable connection to the router (Netgear DG384GT). ... ...to use the fittings that come with it to attach it to the side of your monitor or in a place where air can circulate to keep it slightly cooler than resting flat it on a surface.
Overall, if you're buying Netgear, I would recommend the faster and only slightly more expensive WG111T Dongle which has no conflict with XP. ...

...port. When you compare the netgear software to the default Windows software which it disables, it really does look cheap, something from Windows 95. I have my 54Mbps Dongle attached to a Netgear 108Mbps Wireless Network and the perfomance is good for opening email, browsing internet, downloading files etc, however, when gaming online, i noticed that every few seconds I would lag slightly, which did not happen with my previous wired connection.
