If you have decided that wireless networking is for you, then it stands to reason that at some point you are going to have to invest in a wireless networking card to connect to a wireless base unit. When it comes to ordinary network cards, you can pick them up for around a tenner now and the brand isn't really that much of an issue seeing as the technology is quite old and established. Wireless networking, as a newer technology, is going to be different. I prefer to stick with established, well known brands when buying newer technology as they usually know their stuff better, and in some cases ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages non works fine so far

This product is actually some-thing that belongs to my Brother, so having see-ing it on here we went over it with a fine tooth comb to bring you this review. The Netgear WG311 54 Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter in itself was very easy to install, simply slot the adapter into a vacant PCI slot on your PC screw secure and turn on the PC, the net gears installation Wizard does the rest, the adapter selects the best available connection and adapts its settings to match. User doesn't recommend the product

    Advantages Advantages NONE!

Disadvantages Disadvantages EVERYTHING! PC crashes, won't connect, poor range, crap software, crap product!

Bought a NETGEAR Wireless-G Modem Router (DG834G), set-up was easy (once I remembered to disable my previous modem in Device Manager). My wifes laptop wireless connection took seconds to set-up & conect to the modem. Everthing was going really well ... untill, I TRIED TO SET-UP & INSTALL A NETGEAR WG311 PCI ADAPTER ON A THIRD PC, WHAT AN ABSOLUTE TOTAL & UTTER NIGHTMARE! Several knowledgable people, dozens of PC crashes, dozens of 'System Restores, dozens of times going over & over the instructed process step-by-step from scratch (on a new & 'System Restored PC each time) LATER! This PCI ... more

    User doesn't recommend the product

Advantages Advantages Well, if you're lucky you might get it to work.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor software, poor reception, can cause system crashes.

When I want a piece of networking kit, the first manufacturer I look for is Netgear. Years of experience has told me that Netgear offers good value for money and reliability - that is until I came across this card!! I am not exaggerating when I say that this is one of the most troublesome pieces of hardware I have ever come across. I have installed this card on several systems. The installation is easy and straightforward, and within a few minutes you are ready to configure the card. This is where the problems can start. First of all the configuration utility that comes with the card is not ... more
