I purchased my Netgear Router some 4 months when I was in the US from www.circuitcity.com. At that time the price was something like 79 USD now after all the mail in rebates the price is only 29 USD in the same place. The price in UK for the same product is around 52 to 60 GBP. Almost double, so it makes sense to buy these small things when you are on a Visit to US :).

It took some time for me to figure out that the first time I had to connect the ethernet cable also from the router to my laptop and that would fix ...

...purchase was the "starter kit" Netgear WGR614 Cable/DSL 54 Mbps Wireless Router, from Argos. I paid £56.99 for it as of early August 2008. Note that I did not buy the router on its own; Argos offered in this starter kit a USB adapter or "dongle" as I shall refer to it from now on. This is essential for setting up a wireless network, as it allows the router to send information from your modem to the computer you are trying to get internet on. Advantages: Stable, Good Range, Fast. Disadvantages: None.
I primarily bought this router to connect to cable broadband (virgin media) and to get my Nintendo Wii online, it was very easy to set up, just a case of following the on screen instructions on the CD, it took about 15 minutes in all, i am an average computer user but it was so easy pretty much anyone could get it up and running. There are various security settings to keep your connection secure and the it seems very stable indeed, i have not had ...

...but one short call to Netgear and that was all sorted out.
