Advantages: Amazing Controls, Immersive Gameplay, Pro Mode, Online gem. Disadvantages: Poor Frame rate during cutscenes and replay, Connection issues online.
NHL 09.
It is safe to say that the National Hockey Leauge game series has been milked to death, then again with most sports games a game each year has done most of the series good, Fifa 01, 02, 03, Tiger Woods 01, 02, 03 etc. But most of them just repeat the same game with better graphics and a few twitches with new technology provided over the years.
NHL 09 breaks that mold, rather than making one or two fixes, a feature or two, better graphics, ... ...the basic NHL game lineup, with career modes, multiplayer, customization and so forth. It manages to make the whole game immersive, making you come back for more. No more repetetive matches in different arenas, the AI for each team are actually different by a longshot. Talking for the AI, They no longer just sit by and watch you score, the AI actually forces you to play the game, and will provide a challenge for you. As well as a new stick mode allowing ...

Advantages: Very Realistic! Too many advantages to list. Disadvantages: Addicting
...is by far the best NHL video game ever made! It has amazing gameplay, the graphics are excellent, you can tell who the players are by looking at them. The players movements are realistic, and it is like watching a hockey game on tv. The new defensive features are nice upgrade over previous versions of this game and it allows you to play a more defensive oriented game. My only beef with the gameplay is the A.I. of the goaltenders, as they tend to ... ...moves or passes and it leads to easy goals. The new Be A Pro mode I found cool because of the first person camera view it gives you, and it is really like you are playing a game of hockey yourself. The only downfall of this mode is it can be quite time consuming to play your whole career. I also find it annoying that you score way more goals than you get assists as the players you play with are not very good at scoring. My favourite mode of the game ...
