Advantages Awesome gameplay, graphics and sound

I bought NHL2001 from 'GAME' as I had just played it on the playstation2 and was so blown away with how amazing it was, I just had to get it for my PC. I'm a sucker for most sports sims but I also know when a game does or doesn't make the grade. When you start a new game on NHL, you see all the players of the home team making their way out down the corridor and on to the ice. The graphics are amazing at this point and you can see each players face quite clearly. I'm not sure but I think they are the sampled faces from the players in the actual NHL. Advantages Brilliant graphics and gameplay
Disadvantages Need to have a 3D graphics card and 200+mhz PC, It's better after a while playing with friend rather than the PC and EA sports idea of internet play leaves a lot to be desired.

Most people buy a product due to familarity, but many rarely are willing to buy something especiallly when it comes to sports sims are will to buy it if they don't know the game or what it's all about. You see a friend of mine came over to visit and wanted to play a game of Fifa I had woah there buddy (this is not actually what i said but my memory is useless) how bout a game of Ice hockey? Advantages Great Checks, Great Graphics, Great Game!
Disadvantages Sore Thumbs, Not Many Play Modes

1 minute left in the third period... They have the puck and are on a breakaway... There's one lone defender trying to recover... the attacker winds up... and then... CRUNCH!!! The attacker goes flying, sliding across the ice until he comes to rest in the middle of the ice, dazed and confused... That wasn't a tackle... That wasn't a block... That was OVERKILL! Everything about NHL 2001 feels good, from the smooth passing, to the vicious slapshots, to the crunching blocks... this game is FUN! Advantages Grphics, commands, players.
Disadvantages Difficultes in controles

You know, here in Russia I don't like playing hockey in real life, but on the pc I can play it for hours. After being played for 2 hours of enjoying, you are tired, but you want to go on, go on and play for 1, 3, 6, 8, 10 hours. Very good graphics plus originality plus sound and comments of the dictor. I don't know, how for you, but for me it was not difficult to play with the computer commands. If EA will make such a good product next year, I prmmise, that I'll buy it and write a comment about it here. Good luck. Enjoy the game. ... more

Advantages good for newbies, fast, sleak, looks good
Disadvantages boring of your not new, only an update on previous versions

I bought this game after years of playing the other versions on various consoles. Basically this is an ice hockey game, you chase after a puck trying to score against the oposition. Its not as easy as it sounds, there are different game types 1 off atches, leagues, careers, penalties, online. If you are going to buy this game and never played the rest then you are on to a winner. The controls a sleak and it is a very playable game. HOWEVER If you ahve played this game in a previous version then you aint getting much, just some updated stats a couple of new teams and thats about it. It is a ... more
