Disadvantages: Needs a lot of work on Customer Service and Interactive TV

...promised was that of free NTL World internet, this was before christmas, and when you called it was "oh it's February now". Well they've been putting it back a month every month you ring, then we get "well it's only in certain areas at the moment". I think they are having a laugh sometimes, does the phrase couldn't organise a pi** up in a brewery spring to mind. We were enticed to NTL after a leaflet was dropped through our door offering free line rental and basic digital tv for the first three months. In comparison to BT the overall monthly bill would be significantly cheaper, including the digital television service....great deal? ...Yes I had the NTL muppets round on Saturday to get me plugged into the Fibre Optic that is buried deep in the pavement on my street. I am connected to the NTL Triple Digital package which provides me with 1 standard phone line, 1 digital TV set top box and 1 piece of Coaxial cable running to my PC, which then goes into the Cable Modem I now have. Advantages: Brilliant. The cable modem is the biggest and most decisive factor in this package and is worth the money alone!
Disadvantages: The NTL digital TV is a bit poor and expensive to get the extra channels (compared to SKY)

I am writing about the NTL cable modem package (icluding NTL digital TV and phone line) as its what I have. Many people have complained about NTL, but with this package I have no complaints at all. ...out the new house had ntl cable and thought this would be better. No dish and according to them a good service. So i called them and found it cost about the same as sky around £40 for the full package. You can just have the basic package for £11.50 which is the channels on freeview plus some extra. The family pack for £19.50 has disney channels, paramount and others excluding sports and movies. So seeing as we had all the channels previously ... Read review

Disadvantages: Customer service is diabolical

...as long. I have got the NTL digital, internet and phone service which admitedly is cheap, but if something goes wrong you`ll be waiting forever to get it sorted. The charge I pay is about £32 a month, and for this I get over 60 tv channels, 2 phone lines, unlimited free internet access and e-mail and selected internet addresses on the tv. Disadvantages: Poor Cable TV package

NTL have just ripped off their cable customers by raising their monthly non-digital cable charges by an extortionate amount - the basic package is up from £11.25 a month for basic tv channels and a phone line to £13.99. Thats about a 20% increase for a lesser service , as they have even dropped some channels from the previous list of free channels. ...estate agent, I found that NTL was the only provider in my area. So, I called up NTL and requested to be connected. They wanted a short copy of my tenant lease agreement. I assume that is necessary given that I had only been in the UK for a couple of weeks. So, the customer service person gave me a fax number to send the document and promise to call me before 5 pm. ...cable and telephone service from ntl since mid December when I moved house and they STILL haven't installed it. I have been through a whole comedy of errors some of which are: In the week of December 11th I contacted NTL to inform them that my girlfriend and I would be leaving our current address in January as we had purchased a new flat, we wanted to transfer our account to our new address. ...service, but I am on NTL digital, so my opinions are based on that and on the descriptions of the analogue service I have seen elsewhere. Firstly I should explain why I chose to subscribe to NTL digital. On moving into a new flat I found that the only TV connection was via a distributed system that not only didn't carry ch 5 (well my wife likes the 9 o'clock films...), but had pretty poor picture for C4. ...and there's bad with the NTL service. NTL in the Manchester area used to be Cable and Wireless (who many people including myself weren't impressed with). Things like when your phone went down you couldn't get through to the fault reporting section, at times I had spent nearly £1 on payphones waiting on hold.
