    I’ve been an NTL customer for 5 years now and what started as them being my phone company has changed into them providing my phone, TV package and internet service. Earlier this year they came third in a worst customer service poll, but my experience has been generally positive with them.     Disadvantages Disadvantages poor customer service, offshore call centres, long wait times, understanding and lack of training

    Up until a year ago, I had been with NTL when I was in Aldershot. When I moved to Sheffield I transferred the number to Telewest (I think their the same really) and the service wasn't too bad at all. Well I would have to say it was completely faultless really as I didn't have to contact them at all in the beginning. The internet service was fantastic, never had a problem at all with that service. The phone was great no problems there either. The television package with them was great way back when.     Disadvantages Disadvantages long queues when contacting customer services

    I switched to cable originally when a BT engineer accidentally disconnected my line whilst connecting a new customer across the road - I was actually on the phone when it happened and saw the engineer at the top of the telegraph pole. I used my mobile to contact BT, expecting the engineer to be instructed to fix the problem there and then, but no, it took them an unbelievable 8 days to reconnect me. So when I received a leaflet telling me I could have NYNEX, which would cost me less, I had no hesitation in switching.     Before living in Manchester I’d always been a BT customer, that is until they started mucking me around. On leaving London and having a blazing row with BT I swore I would never give them my custom again.     I have been using NTLworld since it started and had the old 1p a minute one before that. Initially NTLworld was disappointing. We were warned that there would be a phased mailing of the software and they weren't wrong. Ours came nearly 3 months after we ordered it(we had a pre-release order). With great excitement we installed the software. We were delighted to see that we had a choice of IE or Netscape. Then the long and frustrating wait to get connected.     When I moved into my house two years ago workmen were digging outside my house. This turned out to be the Sub Contractors for NTL. The only reason I went for NTL was not for their telephone service, but for their offer of NTL world, which boasted no internet call up charges and no monthly subscription. I was also interested in the TV service, which was analogue at the time, but the internet offer did it for me. As for the Telephone service, where do I start.     Well I know for a fact that a lot of people are a little wary of ntlworld because of all the nasty rumours that have been flying around at the moment. It is true that ntl have been having a few problems of late but I should imagine that the worst is over for now. Now, I have a 56k modem which I use to dial up to connect to the ntl network and I must say I am rather impressed with the connection speed of 45 333 bps that it connects at. With ntlworld being an un-metered service I would have expected nothing more than 33 333 bps, as there would be a lot of people on the network night and day seen ... more

    I'm an NTL customer. I've been an NTL customer for about 2 years now. Trying to become an NTL customer was probably one of the longest most arduous experiences of my life. This review is more about all of the trouble I've had with NTL rather than a listing of their services. If you want to know how dismal their customer service is then read on, if you'd prefer to know more about what they offer then try their website, but please don't waste your time trying to phone them.     Disadvantages Disadvantages Customer service is appauling, once you actually get through, (usually about 20 mins), they promise you the earth and deliver nothing.

    I thought I’d add to the masses with just one more reason not to bother with NTL. When my husband and I moved just under 2 years ago we decided to ask NTL (Cable and Wireless back then) to install a telephone line and cable TV package. I had been a customer of theirs at my old address for many years, in fact back when they started as ‘Encom’, and had never had any problems, so they were the natural choice.
