Carefully, Take No Frogs
Review of Nanny Ogg's Cookbook - Terry Pratchett by Shanksey

Advantages: Great recipes, very funny
Disadvantages: You need to know discworld

Let me first introduce Nanny Ogg. Anyone who is familiar with Terry Pratchett's Discworld will already know her. She is one of the three witches of Lancre, a town found on Discworld. Nanny has a large family comprising of several children, a multitude of grandchildren and great- grandchildren and an army of daughters-in-law. To Nanny Ogg, daughters-in-law are solely for the purpose of making her life easier by doing everything for her. Over many ... Read review

The Joy of Snacks
Review of Nanny Ogg's Cookbook - Terry Pratchett by chicane

Advantages: a very funny read
Disadvantages: none

...the recipes and wisdom of Nanny Ogg, resident of Lancre, witch and now author, who will be a familiar figure to those of you who have read Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. Those of you who have read Maskerade will be familiar with Nanny Ogg's book 'The Joy of Snacks' but since this had been banned Nanny Ogg's Cookbook is the next best thing. The book contains recipe's (in a cookbook? surely not?) both from Nanny herself and other residents of the ... Read review

All It Takes Is A Bit Of Foresight.
Review of Nanny Ogg's Cookbook - Terry Pratchett by dreamkin

Advantages: Solid, practical advice for anyone who's had to ask where the man with the ferrets should be seated
Disadvantages: The Etiquette in the Bedroom section got cut...

...it is that the beloved Nanny Ogg, matriach of half of Lancre, is sharing the wisdom that she has gained through a long and interesting life with the general populous. That way maybe they won't have to come and ask her all the time. It's a stroke of genius, as the receipes actually work, although even if they didn't I doubt people would really care. So if anyone is wondering what a Strawberry Wobbler tastes like, or Primeval Soup (which should ... Read review

Strawberry Wobblers?
Review of Nanny Ogg's Cookbook - Terry Pratchett by Cookster5

Advantages: Delicious recipes, brilliant illustrations, rib tickling writing
Disadvantages: Some ingredients required can be a little hard to find....

Nanny Ogg's Cookbook is another piece of 'spin-off' literature from the Discworld series by Terry Prachett. In the book, Nanny Ogg, the Discworld's wisest (and randiest) witch has kindly parted with many unique recipes, such as 'Bananana Soup Surprise' -"Surprising, eh?", 'Carrot and Oyster Pie' - "Carrots so's you can see in the dark, and oysters so's you've got something to look at", and the immortal 'Strawberry Wobblers' - "It's pink and it wobbles, ... Review of Nanny Ogg's Cookbook - Terry Pratchett by Kalanac

Advantages: Fantastic Recipies in an easy to follow format
Disadvantages: Some of the references are aimed at fans of the discworld series

...of the book owing to Nanny Oggs previous publication "The Joye of Snacks". After a few pages of this highly humerous dialogue it has a few short sections such as "About the author" wich has Mrs. Ogg describe herself and the town of Lancre Where she currently lives. Then there is a short section by the editor advising that the measurments given by Mrs. Ogg have been standardised. As you can see every effort has been made to create the appearance ... Read review

Read it and weep, Delia
Review of Nanny Ogg's Cookbook - Terry Pratchett by Oceanna

Advantages: Viually amusing, and a joy to read
Disadvantages: none

I bought this book about a year ago, and it holds pride of place on my bookshelves. It's hysterical. The recipes (carefully tailored to be at least vaguely edible) range from poisoned humbugs (perfect for Assassins) to Granny Weatherwax's rock cakes (not for the soft-toothed). There are also sections on etiquette with various species, and the editors have kindly pasted over the bit about bedroom etiquette. Fluffy slippers come into it somewhere... ... Read review
