Advantages: reliable , easy to use , well set out site Disadvantages: nothing
Nationwide online banking services are pretty impressive . I joined there three months ago and I have found the nationwide website www.nationwide.co.uk a very user friendly , co-ordinated and helpful way of banking on the net.
Let me explain that I was very sceptical of banking this way but I have tried it and so far have had no regrets.
As a computer novice I found the website easy to follow and it is very simple to register for online banking.
... ...working days( which is impressive) Nationwide get in touch with you at your home address with your all important pass number and customer number . This comes via the good old trusty Royal Mail .
Then you are ready to roll.Type in the website , click on online banking then enter your details . Your PC should at this point warn you for the first time that you are about to view pages over a secure connection ( you can prevent this appearing again ). ...

Advantages: Great web site, easy to setup, easy and quick to transfer money between accounts Disadvantages: Easy to setup, but slow too
I have only held a nationwide account for about 7 months now. Initially it took me ages regestering online because there were various things that had to be sent by post etc. The whole setup procedure took about 6 weeks! But once that was over it is all so easy.
I have a Flexaccount and an E-savings account. The Flexaccount can be used with holes-in-the-wall at any time. Nationwide do not charge for using other machines by the way. The E-savings ... ...to stay with nationwide for the forseeable future.
Just one more thing - if the rate you are currently recieving is not as good as you could get elsewhere, don't be loyal to the bank / building society. After all, they are there to give you the best rates! ...

...I can honestly say that Nationwide is far and away the best I've ever dealt with. The staff are really friendly and helpful, which I have never really found in other institutions. I would highly recommend the online Nationwide banking facility - I have used two other banks' online banking, and again Nationwide is far superior. It is well-laid-out, clear, easy to use. It is great for checking your balances, recent transactions, transferring money ... ...on Nationwide services, which is very handy. Nationwide have also introduced an online account 'e-savings' with a 7% rate -- which is a great place to tuck money away for a rainy day.
I have written a comprehensive opinion of Nationwide's accounts, which might also be useful.... ...

Advantages: ALL THE FEATURES OF A BANK, with none of the hassle Disadvantages: none that I can see
We have used Nationwide Building Society as our bank for more than fifteen years. During that time they have constantly improved their service to their members. The on line Banking facility has all the features anyone could want, making the paying of bills and other services very easy.
One of the things that I feel is most unusual is that apart from the fact that you can get a mini statement on line any time you can also ask for a full statement ... ...charge whatsoever. Many other services which are chargeable by other banks are also free. Another outstanding feature is a new savings account which is under your own control on line and yet pays a very high interest rate for each day the money is in the account, with NO penalty for making any withdrawals. ...

Advantages: Bank from home and move money from savings account to current account and vice versa. Disadvantages: Slow connection. Delays in answering queries.
I joined the Nationwide Building Society in order to make use of their Internet Banking site while I was abroad. This has proved very useful, moving money from one account to another, paying bills online and generally being able to keep an eye on my accounts anywhere and at any time.
There were drawbacks at the beginning such as not being able to access the site when it was first started, due to "teething" problems.
Not being able to access it ... ...! It can be very slow at times, but this is usually at peak times during the middle of the day.
A message site on the accounts page can prove useful, providing the answer to the query does not take too long.
All in all a useful banking site to use at home or from anywhere else in the world. ...

Advantages: Good customer service, excellent savings rates. Disadvantages: None I can think of
...quick
All-in-all an excellent site, and excellent products from a company that really does care about members, unlike the banks that are PLCs and seem more concerned about their shareholders.
Nationwide also don't charge customers for using any cash machine, a policy that the others are finally copying. ...

Review of Nationwide Online Banking
Advantages: Secure, simple, lots of info at your fingertips Disadvantages: Takes a few days to set up
I’ve been a Nationwide member for many years now, and have been subscribing to their online banking since September 1999. I can only say how impressed I am with the on-line service. I have full confidence in its two-tiered security system, and the one mistake they have made (debiting a transaction twice) was swiftly rectified. I can log in and check my accounts in a matter of minutes, and transfer sums between accounts immediately. I can also get ...

...have been a customer with Nationwide for over 10 years but I have never been more impressed with their service! The on-line banking section of their web-site is really excellent, especially from an espablished building society. I have been saving with Nationwide for almost three years now. I find that Nationwide always give a highly competitive saving interest rate. She keeps herself on par with the fast growing technology as well. Recently, she introduce her first on-line banking saving account named e-Savings which gives a generous interest of 7%! Nationwide had other saving accounts on-line as well. You can access to your account anytime anyday. You can easily transfer ...

Advantages: High interest rate Disadvantages: Far too complicated
The Nationwide are currently paying out 7% on their high interest e-savings account, which pays at that rate from just £1. As a long term Internet account Egg customer I was interested to try out this new higher paying account. They do say that Internet Bank loyalty is low, and that’s probably true. Nationwide now the biggest of the remaining mutuals could have been forgiven for not jumping on the internet band wagon but as its turns out the have done quite a splended job.
