Advantages Advantages Good graphics and control

    Disadvantages Disadvantages long load times

NEED FOR SPEED: SHIFT Unlike previous games in the franchise there are no high speed chases from the cops, this one focuses on more of an authentic track racing game. The career mode is lengthy with over 200 events to complete and as you win and are promoted up the leagues until you finally reach the World Tour. The modes vary from standard races, time trials, drift challenges, endurance events and car battles. You advance the leagues by earning stars through either your rank in a race, precision points, aggression points and by completing bonus objectives. Depending on your driving style you ... more

Advantages Advantages Looks Good, Sounds Good, Great Cars

Disadvantages Disadvantages Over a Bit Too Quickly

The latest installment of the Need for Speed, Shift, series reverts (thankfully) back to the track-racing percision of ProStreet. After a few more dyer attempts at the even-more-overdone-than-WW2-shooters street racing scene, the new game heads back to some of the most popular race tracks in the world. Slightly Mad Studios have managed to create an accessible racer that's easy for a beginner to pick and jump into, but at the same times appeals to experts. Anyone who has previously played any career driven racer before will know what to expect; you start with a small amount of money to buy a ... more

Advantages Advantages Beautiful racing game, the focus is heavily on you having fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you don't like racing games its not for you. I preferred having to run away from the police.

Shift is the new racing game from EA. Based on the Need for Speed franchise. Although if you were after anything like the previous installments, which involved being generally illegal and driving away from the police. This game involves standard, almost arcade style racing, whilst looking absolutely amazing. The graphics are stunning and the audio of the cars is what you'd expect. Your ultimate aim is to get into the Need For Speed racing championships after you have gained enough Stars for completing races and performing certain tasks during them, like reaching a certain speed or taking the ... more

Advantages Advantages Cars look good, tracks look good and it's addictive.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Other cars are annoying, bit boring, online is terrible.

Need for Speed: Shift was the first track racing game of the series, and it was very critically acclaimed, there were so many bad reviews for this and there were people taking the 'f' out of Shift. But seriously, this game isn't as bad as people say, it's actually quite a fun game, and it's extremely addictive. The graphics are awesome, oh, and another point, you can tell they weren't trying to make this a simulation game and they were trying to please fans of the normal arcade games they make, you get more points for crashing into people and spinning them out etc than you get if you drive ... more

Advantages Advantages Good for a quck fst pace driving game good array of cars to choose from

Disadvantages Disadvantages no story line becomes to repetative

Initaly the game looks quite exiting and makes you want get on and start driving the varoius cars available. There are so many things done right in terms of design that this feels like the freshest take on the "simulation" racing genre in many, many years. I put the word "simulation" in quotes because while Need for Speed Shift is undoubtedly closer to that end of the racing spectrum than, say, Burnout, Slightly Mad made some very smart choices in deciding what would be realistic and what wouldn't. The result is that the team is essentially giving you a racing experience that is extremely ... more

Advantages Advantages Good graphics, good choice of cars to pick from.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can get stuck and no way of reversing out in some situations

I feel this is a good game for all you x-boxers out there. It has good, detailed graphics that look somewhat realsitic. As far as racing games go i have to say this is one of the better. It is a track game and you an piack a track and race, the higher up you get in the game the more cash you get, to help you upgrade and buy new cars. The cars look very realistic. You can add body kits, change wheels, colour and body art on your bought car. There are mnay different car's you can buy, most of what you can think of will be on there, available to unlock if not already so. You can play many races ... more
