Need for Speed Underground 2 is the follow up game to “Need for Speed Underground” which was a huge success on the Playstation2 a couple of years ago. Both games have been released aimed at building on the interest in street racing that has been generated by films like “The Fast and the Furious” and “2 Fast 2 Furious”. I should probably also say that I didn’t own the first game in the series although I have played it a couple of ... ...I have a need, a need for speed.
Once you have selected your car you are free to start cruising around the city looking for races to enter, garages to enter and money to collect. Initially only the City Core area of the map is available to you but there is plenty to this area of the city to keep you occupied.

The world map is exactly what it sounds like: a map of the world you are driving around. There are two ways to view the ...

...but at times you just need the outlandish a bit more and that's where after a lot of deliberating my hard-earned £30 was spent on a copy of Need for Speed Underground 2, and lades and gentlewomen, let the crazy racing begin.
The premise of the game is simple - in some ongoing story from Need for Speed Underground 1 you've run away from your home-town and all the underground street racing you was doing there, but ended up in a different city to do ... ...alongside each other, and you need to time the rev's on your start just right, then your gear changes and also your lane changes as well - in these races you could end up blowing your engine out if you over-rev it or just 'totalling' your car if you happen to pull out in front of one of many obstacles on the course, its fun, but very very tough to perfect all the timings on.

I was a big fan of the original NFSU and I own most of the NFS games so when this was released it was must have. The game picks up where the original left off (so if you didn't complete the original then you'll have to guess what happened LOL) and is in a fictional city called Bayview which bares a passing resemblance to Hollywood (what is it with LA? First San Andreas rips it and now this) and the story unfolds here. For those who want a bit of ... ...at the end of NFSU and you've now decided to go to pastures new and burn rubber there. The story eventually unfolds from here. Well a good story doesn't always make a good game so is it any good?
Graphically it's excellent. The city is a real treat and the level of detail that has gone into it is awesome. From the detail of the skies to the buildings and even down to the road it's lush. Even if you roll over the cats eyes the controller vibrates ...

GRAPHICS:The graphics are pretty stunning, there's a lot of shinny reflections of street lights of the cars and on wet road. When high up on the hills, looking down over the city does look totally amazing which lets you see very far with its draw distance. The cars you drive are details nicely but the traffic though out the city is very plane and a bit blocky. What lets down the graphics and also the gameplay ...
