...bought myself a bar of nestle yorkie I haven’t tried these before but I was thinking of someone at the time and I felt sure this was the sort of chocolate he would like, so I decided to try it for myself. I bought a nice big monster bar and as you must know by now the advertising for this particular bar has taken a bit of a bashing.
First of all it calls itself the macho bar,and the television adverts are always banging away how it is not a girls ... ...biscuit,there are several different types there are almond, milk chocolate, chocolate and raisen. I also believe a honeycomb one is now available.
Anyway this one is a 70g bar at the price of 40 pence,it is in a shiny maroon coloured packet with the words yorkie in large yellow letters the O being in white with a picture of a lady and a red cross through it meaning of course off limits to women.
This sort of negative advertising gets my back up if ...

Advantages: Yummy, chunky chocolate! Satisfying Disadvantages: Lots of calories, Not as nice as Cadburys
...chunky bar is made by Nestle who are well known for making a huge range of products including ice-creams and confectionary such as Kit Kat, Polo, Quality Street and many more popular sweets and treats. The original chocolate Yorkie bar was launched in 1976, to take on brands such as Cadbury’s Dairy Milk and provide a chunky chocolate bar instead of the slim Cadbury Dairy milk Bars.
Yorkie bar used to have a total of 6 chunks to the bar and each ... ...information and how to contact Nestle by phone, post or using the internet. When opening the blue foil wrapper and taking a sniff you can smell a lovely smell of yummy chocolate which smells mouth-watering and creamy. The chocolate is a lovely creamy brown colour and you can see the bar itself is quite chunky with gaps separating the chunks which make the chunks easier to break off.

Advantages: Huge chocolate bar Disadvantages: perhaps too big for one person
...other side of the bar Nestle have written “original” so you know which variety you are getting.
I removed the wrapper and revealed a huge slab of chocolate. It sat there on my kitchen table looking like a blunt weapon. I smelt it and was rewarded with a very chocolaty smell. It smelt just like the Easter egg chocolate you get with Nestle Easter eggs such as the Smarties Easter egg. Flip the bar over and you see that the Yorkie is divided up into ... ...twice the size of an ordinary square of chocolate (such as you would find in a Cadbury’s Dairy Milk bar). I reckon they were at least half an inch high. Each ingot had “Yorkie” stamped on top.
The first piece broke off with perhaps a little more effort that is needed with smaller chocolate bars. There was no audible snap but then again it has been very warm recently so the chocolate was probably a little soft. The piece was almost too big to put ...

...the latest marketing ploy from Nestle and actually think that they have got it all wrong!
The latest campaign tells us that the Yorkie bar is for men only. It “doesn’t come in pink”, is “king sized, not queen sized” and shouldn’t be used to “feed the birds”. Basically “it’s not for girls”. Strangely enough, this campaign (following on from the more traditional, and certainly less ... ...(raisin and biscuit). Surely Nestle have omitted to notice the feminine appeal here. I like my men big and chunky – that’s Yorkie. I like my men to have substance – that’s Yorkie. Men like their women sexy – that’s not Yorkie. They like variety – that’s not Yorkie.
The adverts are intended to be tongue in cheek (as is much of my opinion) but have we really come this far? I don’t want to be told ...

Advantages: lovely chocolate Disadvantages: jokes are tedious
...A big 70g bar of Nestle chocolate wrapped in eye catching dark blue foil. This is the original Yorkie.
It set me back 40p in the local newsagents, but some shops vary in prices. The name is easy to spot, as it goes right across the front in golden yellow letters highlighted with red trim. Advantages: Big Beast of a Bar Disadvantages: Sickly
Now boys, tell me why exactly Yorkie is “not for girls”? I am sure you know that some of us may be partial to having big things in our mouths. Me and my friend (and the dog) have just worked our way through an Original Yorkie (in about 40 seconds). The reason the dog got involved was to save us fighting in the middle of the floor over the last chunk as there was only five of them. Now don’t go thinking that we were too girly to eat a whole one as ... ...hands down in the chocolate eating stakes.
The Packaging
The Yorkie comes in a blue wrapper with yellow writing saying “Yorkie”. The “O” is a red circle warning sign of a woman holding a handbag with a red line through it. Below this it says “Its not for girls!” in white writing. Lies, lies, of course it is. The warning sign is repeated on the back in a larger size and it says “Do not feed the birds” which I think is quite funny.

...that the marketing agencies at Nestle didn’t observe this issue when they were creating a new advertising campaign. And the fact is, the Yorkie looks and feels a very masculine piece of chocolate. It is powerful, strong and quietly attractive. Following in my brother’s style, I’m going to whinge at you about some dull chocolate bar.

As it looks at me, through its evil, red-rimmed circular eye, the Yorkie bar seems ... ...available in pink, and that Nestle provides ‘good food and good life.’ Also, we learn that this thing contains more E-numbers than a teenage rave, but we could whinge for another thousand words about that in a different category. ...that it is made by Nestle and along the side it tells you it is the Honeycomb variety in fancy writing.
On the reverse of the wrapper it advises that it is NOT AVAILABLE IN PINK - in bold white letters. My first thought is that Nestle are certainly not marketing this to the market as a whole.

...packagin technique is used by Nestle for this product. It has a blue wrapping and the word "Yorkie" is written in bold white writing across the centre. A very bland packaging I feel, therefore you want be attracted to it. Considering that the bar is rectangulr in shape the packet (which is normal foil wrapping) is also in this shape. Advantages: Better than other Nestle bars. Disadvantages: It is, after all, still a Nestle bar. And the blatant sexist advertising, of course!
...lot of interest in the Nestle chocolate bar. Women bought them just to be contrary, men bought them to spark off conversation with those women, and so on. The whole idea was focused around a 'macho' chocolate bar. Made of Nestle's tangy, bitter chocolate, it had none of your 'namby-pamby' biscuit or wafer or carmel centre - it was just good sized pure chocolate through and through. Sensible. Powerful.
