    Advantages Advantages Easy to read from start to finish

    I've always been a Michael Palin fan. I'd watched Around the world in 80 days, Pole to pole, and Sahara. This book accompanies the more recent series, New Europe. The thinking behind New Europe was that of all the continents Michael Palin had visited, Europe was the one he had explored the least. With countries in Eastern Europe joining the EU, it would therefore be useful and interesting for him to find out more about these countries and the people who live there. He starts in Slovenia and eventually ends up in Berlin, after visiting about 12 countries. The book certainly goes into more ... more

    Advantages Advantages Excellent read, easy to get into

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Too short

    Absolutely love the way Michael Palin writes his books. Not only is his as honest as possible about the situations that he finds himself in, but also his comedy back ground creeps in on many occassions. Michael Palin starts this journey in Slovenia and makes his way through many of the now old Eastern Bloc countries. He takes along with him his trusted camera crew and other helpers that make the journey go with as few problems as possible, but it is these problems, along with Michaels way of writing about these that make the book so enjoyable.
