4 Stars Good Ol' Super Mario Bros. Review with images 09/12/2009
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Great 4-way multiplayer quality, for a platformer

Disadvantages Disadvantages A lot of recycled or uninspired material

3 years after the successful reincarnation of the classic Super Mario Bros. adventuring recipe on the DS, Nintendo brings the formula to its second most popular console, also introducing what series' creator Shigeru Miyamoto was aspiring to integrate for the past couple of decades: true co-operative multiplayer modes. The Story You might easily regard the story of New Super Mario Brothers Wii as the biggest cliché of all time. It is, after all, about rescuing princesses from a dragons' fortresses and it's been pretty much the same for every Super Mario platformer in existence... but I choose ... more

Advantages Advantages Addictive multi-player action, fun to play and very durable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Split second freeze when your co-op partner loses a life can be annoying (intentional or not?)

Super Mario is back and this time it’s bigger and better than before! I delightfully received this game as a Christmas present as I wanted a multi-player game that both the missus and I could play. For one, it would stop any arguments about me spending too much time playing console games as she would be playing it at the same time! More to the point, she always gets bored easily so this would surely keep her going for a while. Plot & Aim of the Game ****************************** If you are considering buying this game for a brand new plot then you will be vastly disappointed. Although this is ... more

4 Stars The Famous Plumber from Italy Rides Again Review with images 22/12/2009

Advantages Advantages Great Controls, Well Constructed Levels, Excellent Audio

Disadvantages Disadvantages Dated Genre (2D Scroller)

"It'sa Me, Mario!" When it comes to the most popular videogame of all time, the 'Mario Bros.' franchise must surely be both the bestselling and most loved. Rather than originally appearing on a Nintendo (as most people would assume), Mario made his first home console debut on the Atari 2600 in 1981's 'Donkey Kong'. Since that time the mustachioed plumber has been seen on countless occasions in a variety of games, ranging from the awesome free-roaming 'Super Mario 64' (1996), to the 'Mario Kart' spin-off titles which are incredibly popular in their own right. Mario's latest game comes on the ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Sound Quality, Good Graphics, Excellent Multi-Player.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite Expensive.

Introduction This game was first released in 2009. The game was originally built for the Wii console but the games can now be bought for a range of consoles, such as the Nintendo DS. I bought a Nintendo Wii about two years ago. I am always looking for new games to play on it. One mario game came with the bundle which i originally bought and i was very happy with the game. When i first saw this game come out i knew straight the way that me and my friend would love it. It looked great on the advertisement, and looked fun and exciting which i am always looking for in a game. The thing which ... more

Advantages Advantages Stays true to the original games, great multiplayer functions

Disadvantages Disadvantages Story maybe a bit repetitive?

The Past I grew up playing games on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), most of my favourite games when I was younger included my favourite plumbers Mario and Luigi and their dinosaur friend Yoshi, and of course Princess Peach, who always seems to be running into bad luck and getting captured by the villain in this game King Bowser. I honestly spent hours trying to rescue the Princess in games such as Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3, Super Mario World 1 and 2, The Lost Levels and of course Mario 64 when Mario became for ‘advanced’ on the Nintendo 64 console. The Mario Franchise has ... more

Advantages Advantages Challenging difficulty, new gameplay mechanics give them game a lot of variety, multiplayer is fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pity it's not in HD, no online,

Story Oh Mario, Mario, always saving the same girl. If you’ve ever played a Mario game before you’ll know what to expect from the story. Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser, Mario gives chase through countless worlds jumping on a few Goomba heads in the process and then drops Bowser in a lake of lava at the end of the last level. We all know we don’t buy Mario games for the plot, but would it hurt Nintendo to have some story going on, you know like a movie....................... now that I think about it, maybe it would be best if Mario games had no story. Take the film for example, take Super ... more

Advantages Advantages Great team playing ability

Disadvantages Disadvantages None as of yet.

This game is a timeless classic which has constantly been revised to keep it going. The New Super Mario Bros. Wii has captured all the quality of previous Mario Bros. It captures the sheer simple pleasure of running and jumping; all can be done easily with a d-pad and two buttons. The game play takes a little getting used to but once mastered its great fun. There is also the ability to share it with up to three pals. The first time a Mario game has offered proper co-op play. Keeping the play confined lends the game a more studious approach. What would be a comfortable dash with one player ... more

Advantages Advantages A wii game for four players

Disadvantages Disadvantages can test family patience

A youtube video said it best, when you want to find out how selfish somebody is, just play New Super Mario Bros with them. This is designed to be a team player game, even though there are single player modes as well, many people will buy this game because it can be played with up to four players and because it is Mario. In true Mario form the graphics and levels are pure escapism, but because it is multi player I don't think that the game has developed 3d graphics scenery as much as Super Mario Galaxy which is a better game to play instead if you are single playing wishing to disapear for a ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun, Addicting, Lots of Challenges, Fun Multiplayer for Friends

Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite Difficult at times

So Much New fun in an Old 2D style! Since New Super Mario Brothers came out on the DS I was expecting this to be same in the Wii. But the gameplay still works and still very addicting and I find it very effective especially for me who's been following Mario and Luigi since Marios Bros. first came out for NES. Old and New Although the plot is not something new (Princess Peach gets kidnapped again by Bowser!) New Super Mario Brothers Wii comesback with some new additions like: Yoshi returns for some action, Bowser's family Returns (like in Super Mario Bros. 3) and 2 Toad characters are playable ... more

Advantages Advantages Good gameplay, mixed ability levels, new features and multi-player ability.

Disadvantages Disadvantages no online ability, must play (on multiplayer) at the same pace.

Basically New Super Mario Bros.Wii is the newest version of the classic game which we all know and love just with new levels, transforming mushrooms and multi-player ability. Since this game isn't just a remake of the classic game with better graphics, it has whole selection of ways of bringing the new to the old and still make it seem like its a completely new game! The old things include; classic enemys and weapons and level selection process. These features help make the classic game and the new features; helicopter mushrooms, ice flowers and you can ride yoshi! The good things about this ... more
