...machine and sparking up! Nicorette gum? Nice idea, just didn’t work for me. For anyone that's interested I have written more on how to quit smoking. I have a diary at Home » Health & Beauty » Health » Giving Up Smoking » Member's Advice » Member's Advice to Giving Up Smoking » How to quit smoking, my story I am not trying to plug my own ops. I just feel that if someone came here for help whats the harm of pointing them further. (If anyone ...

Maybe it works

Advantages: Stops the craving
Disadvantages: Burns like mad

I have only been using this gum for a few days, and I am not really looking to quit smoking, just cut down (and then maybe think about quitting), but I felt i had to write a report on how disgusting these things are ! I went for the 4mg gum in so called mint flavour because I smoke about 20 a day (depends on how stressed I am !!), there is also a 2mg gum for people who smoke less than 20 a day. I bought a pack of 24 which cost me £3.98, but had seen ...
...thing, so shop around a little for a better price. Well I was in bed and started craving a cigarette and as I couldn't be bothered to walk downstairs to get one i decided to try a piece of gum instead. I read the instructions which stated 1)Chew slowly until the taste becomes strong (about 1 minuite). 2)Stop and rest gum against your cheek. 3)When taste fades chew a few times until the taste gets strong, then rest the gum again. 4)Keep chewing ...

a cigarette shaped chewable gum would be more use

Advantages: its worth trying- if you really do want to give up smoking and need some help
Disadvantages: could be nothing more than a placebo

WHY do I smoke? Because I am stressed. And I believe smoking helps in some vague way. My stress level goes up, I have a cigarette. I rarely enjoy smoking. But I do feel slightly relieved afterwards. I understand little about the chemistry involved... Scientists reckon nicotine in your blood does something I know-not-what. Scientists reckon if smokers get nicotine in a safer way... they can stop smoking... I've tried nicotine gum. I vowed when I ...
...light a cigarette ever again- theory being the nicotine in the blood is at its lowest after not smoking for about 8 hours whilst one sleeps. To help this suceed, in the weeks leading up to this dreaded day, I reduced my intake by timing my cigarettes- only one cigarette an hour, only one every 2 hours etc, and forcing myself to stick to this rigidly. (This system may be good for reducing levels of nicotine... but it means you clock-watch and can't ...

Nicorette – The jaw breaker?

Advantages: You can smoke (chew them) anywhere :O)
Disadvantages: You need willpower to stop chewing it!

...I bought Nicorette chewing gum ‘Low strength’ and went for it! It worked fine, at first it tasted fowl but I got used to the taste and in time I actually preferred the gum to a cigarette! After the three month period I stopped using the gum and within a week I was smoking again! A year or so later I thought I would try again. After all my sisters had given up smoking with the help of Nicorette. Once again I duly bought my pack of Nicorette and started ...
...If I don’t chew a Nicorette for a long period I find that old familiar feeling - the need of that intake of smoke - creeping over me so I grab for a jaw exerciser instead! And I might add, I can smoke where others can’t! I now cut each one in half and have a special little carry pouch for them (I hear you laughing at me) so I just need to slip one out whenever the need takes me and I feel at least a bit better for only chewing a half at a time now ...

...and when I purchased the Nicorette 2mg mint gum I was not smoking then either, but I was intaking alot of snuff into my body at the time. I really wanted to kick the habit and the nicotine level in smokeless tobacco seems to be more addictive than that in cigarettes, atleast to me so I was unable to do it on my own. Nicorette gum comes in 2 different strenghts, 4mg for heavy users and 2 mg for light users. You can get the gum in either Mint or an Orange flavor. I have only tried the Mint, I was too scared to try the other. To learn more about this gum you can visit the nicorette ...

Yet another attempt ...!!

Advantages: Keeps your mouth busy and tasting foul ....
Disadvantages: Nothing to do with your hands

...Not a chance. Nicorette gum is the latest in a long list of different products to try and wean myself off the dreaded weed - yet again without success. The only advantage with the gum is that it really tastes foul, and so does fool your mouth into believing you've just smoked a couple of ciggies!! On the first day I managed to chew my way through a dozen pieces - followed up by 20 cigs - mmm, no savings made there - in fact it cost me more! I do ...
...how you then break the Nicorette gum addiction - she's still on 20 a day - but 20 pieces of chewing gum, rather than ciggies - still, at least it must be better for your health!! So, yet another door closed - I've tried the patches, microtabs, herbal ciggies, those stupid 'substitute' cigarettes that make it look as though you're smoking a pen, and everything else on the market - still with no success. Still, not one to ever give up (perhaps not ...

...to the subject of the nicorette gum my husband has been on these for just over a year and first he got them on the nhs and then he started buying them which are £5.69 for 30 pieces at the 2mg low strength and at that price every couple of days (as my husband gets them every couple of days) it does get quite expensive and he is finding it hard to quit because he still feels he needs the nicotine after a year and is finding it hard not to have the ...

Gym for the face muscles

Advantages: Can temper the hell of nicotine withdrawal
Disadvantages: Taste

I have used this stuff twice now, last year I gave up smoking for just over 6 months (got bladdered one Friday and thought I could "just have one") and this year I'm into my eighth week. Firstly the pack recommends not chewing more than 12 peices a day, but I got really stuck in and commenced on 15. I wasn't keen on starting on the higher strength stuff as I felt it would take even longer to be shot of it. I used to smoke 100g of rolling tobacco ...
...nicotine I was getting anyway. You are supposed to chew until the taste becomes strong then rest between your cheek and jaw - I tried this but found it nigh on impossible, I was chewing pretty much non-stop, which brings me on to one of the major drawbacks... I found that my jaw muscles were akin to those of a crocodile after a week or so, which was strangely appropriate as I was snapping at anybody who came near me. My face looked over an inch ...

Getting there...

Advantages: Quitting a disgusting habit
Disadvantages: Still spending money

...I decided to try this Nicorette Nicotine Gum that I saw advertised on the television. Perhaps this my help me get over these cravings. That weekend I was determined to give-up. I strolled up to the pharmacist counter and asked for this gum that I saw advertised. I came home and sat on my bed for what I thought was hours. On my desk sat two boxes: 1) Cigarettes 2) Nicorette Gum. Debating in my mind on everything, I came to a conclusion that this habit ...

It hasn't been easy, there have been times where I have wanted a cigarette but I've managed to resist this craving. My nails were once long, I hadn't even noticed I had started to do this! 'I am quitting!' I thought to myself. 'I have to do this!' To be honest, I dont think that I could have done this without Nicorette. ...

addictive as smoking ?

Advantages: helps stop the craving
Disadvantages: a little on the expensive side

I first tried Nicotine gum many years ago and it helped me give up smoking for two years but I was addicted to the chewing gum and got that fed up with chewing that I decided to start smoking again. Recently I joined a smoking cessation clinic at the local hospital where I received counselling and the opportunity to buy the gum at half price for 3 months. I started on the full strength gum and after 5 months decided to try the low strength. Its not ...

The down side is that they are £18.99 for a box of 105 pieces but that is still a lot cheaper than cigarettes and ...

...I decided to try the Nicorette gum and duly went out to buy some from the chemist. I nearly fainted when I saw the price but was told by the pharmacist that it was their number one seller.
