This was my introduction into the world of digital cameras, had used an old (and abused) kodak at work so had a pretty good idea. It's a lot bigger than the average digital camera you get these days but if you're looking for a basic first camera it does exactly what is says on the tin for a good price. The one big disadvantage I've struggled with is the sutter release speed due to the auto-focus function. This camera is small enough to fit comfortably in the hand, the camera has gone through a detailed moulding experience to make sure everything is in the right place. The grip on the front gives enough to hold with one hand, while the indent on the rear is just in the right place for your thumb to access the zoom controls and review button without too much effort. its a bit out dated by the megapixels but I picked it up for less then £40 on ebay. ...

...it! The batteries are Nikon and come with a charger which plugs into a socket. They usually take 3 hours to charge up and when you are running out, it will let you know using symbols. The only disadvantage I could find was the fact that it didn't come with a carry case to protect it, I can't seem to find one anywhere either. As long as you are careful, then it's no big deal. This camera is very light and compact. The optical zoom is very good quality, but when it switches over to digital zoom the quality suffers even on the 2 mega + pixel setting. Has a very good range of setting with low light setting for night shots, inc a hand shake warning too. The LCD display has good quailty and representation of the final result with on camera editting fuction too. The software bundle for PC editting, and adjustments is excellent. ...
