...Quality, make and durability: Nikon is a fantastic camera rate, so you don’t need to worry about the company the camera comes from. It’s a tough little camera too! I’ve had it for 1 ½ years and there isn’t a single scratch, nick, dent or scrape on it! The only not so perfect bit is the hand strap is a bit grubby, but then I guess you could take it off and wash it! Not that I've tried!

Overall Rating: I am very happy with my camera, ... ...of pictures (the memory card with the camera stores only 8 pictures so I recommend buying a bigger memory card) and transfer them to my computer. Rating: 9/10

This little camera is a great piece of kit. The camera has many super features that make the camera both easy to use but able to produce high quality pictures.

It is compact enough to fit easily into a pocket and will allow you to take it anywhere.
The camera although it has a different look is still very durable and easily withstands the constant where and tear taken when being used outside. The retractable lens cap also means there are little chance of scratches the lens or breakig the lens glass.

The Nikon Coolpix 2500 practically screams "party!" color and unusual shape are certain to attract attention, but under the metal skin is a capable camera with surprising flexibility.
Like many other Coolpix models, the 2500 has a swiveling lens mechanism. But the 2500 is unique in that its swivel lens hides neatly inside the camera's frame when not in use. I bought this camera from DIXONS in OCT 02, in the sale for £159.99. Considering the best price on the .net is still £149.99 now, I think this is proof that this camera is a quality all rounder. The camera has a max resolution of 2.1 megapixels, I have upgraded the CF card to a 64MB version that cost me an extra £20.00 and I can store 68 MAX RESOLUTION images on board. Picture quality is top notch and to be honest I have not even thought of upgrading ... ...my uses (mainly family photos up to 5inch by 7inch) the images taken are crystal clear.
The menus and control on this camera are all easy to use, intuitive and the unit feels solid and expensive. One gripe is that it is quite difficult to turn off all the automatic exposure options and settings so it can be fiddly to set up for the exact picture you want to take. ...system is compatible with the Nikon software. I looked before I leapt (silly I know) and ended up having to upgrade my system so I could install the software. The view screen smudges quite easily. If you're trying to swivel the lens out in a hurry because of a great photo opportunity it's often hard to avoid touching the screen and getting finger marks all over it.
The battery life is not that great, many is the time I have run out of juice soon ... ...is the main culprit here. I have found that I usually need to re-charge the battery every time I use the camera.
The camera seems to take quite a long time to warm up ready for a shot. Often if I am taking a photo of people they will have given up posing before the camera is even ready to start shooting. So you can forget about capturing the heat of a moment unless you've left your camera on for a while, which because of the battery... One more ...

...making enquiries, Dixons advised that Nikon were quoting £125 to repair the camera as the lens had been turned in the wrong direction. It had not. Even if it had, then one would expect there to be a mechanism whereby the lens is prevented from being turned in the wrong direction - thereby damaging the camera beyond economic repair.
The saga goes on but, in my view, the camera is defective in design (it should be more durable) and Nikon are not a ...

I was after an easy to use digital camera. This one was on offer when I bought it (just £150) and was a middle of the range camera.
It's great for holiday photos and for nights out. Not too much to pay out and so you don't feel paranoid about things happening to it.
The picture quality can be varied... I normally have it on low so that I can fit about 50 pics on an 8mb card, and I have always had satisfactory if not great results. There are about ... ...to take, ranging from portrait to close up and landscape to fireworks! Haven't had the opportunity to test the fireworks or snow setting yet but hope to take some great pics on the 5th of November!
It was great to take on holiday with my friends... we were able to easily edit out the photos we disliked and wewre able to share photos quickly and email them to others too. It is very easy set up and hook up to the computer to view, print and save images.

This camera takes excellent pictures in normal conditions. The tilting lens allows the user to take the shots without having to have the camera close if the situation does not allow; i.e when taking pictures in between or over people's shoulders. For this reason it can be quite discreet.
There is a delay in between taking photos which can be a bit of a disappointment when wishing to take another photo quickly.

...on your PC using the Nikon software and I had no trouble at all with that. My screen has become very scratched after a lot of use but it is only noticeable when the camera is off and the screen is black. When taking photos I can not notice that the screen is scratched at all.
This is very much a point and click camera. Whilst the quality of the photos is very good, it is not good enough for some, who may wish to invest in an average SLR camera instead. ... ...(with no sound obviously) but only up to about 5 seconds. The anti-red-eye flash (which flashes 4 times) works very well and I have had no problems with that. There is also a scene changer which helps adjust the settings depending on where you are, eg snow, close up, portrait photo etc.
I would recommend this camera to someone who wishes to take photos for holidays but not for someone who wishes to take photos for publishing. ...

The nikon camera is a user friendly camera that has awesome beginner features. It has a rechargeable battery that is lithium ion which means it caN BE CHARGED FOR HOWEVER long and you dont have wait for the battery to be full. The zoom lense is good and protected be the rotating part that hides the lense and flash. The mpeg function is sort of easy to use but there is no sound to accompany the movie. there are many presets for the lense and the light ...

The Nikon Coolpix 2500 camera is fun and easy to use, but the included software is a real pain.
You can start using the camera without reading the manual -- even if you've never used a digital camera before -- as long as you refer to the glossy Quick Start Guide.
You can also make movies, up to 15 seconds. I wan't aware of that when I was shopping. Bu I haven't figured out how to suppress the automatic flash yet. (I'm sure I'll find it in the manual.)
... ...is almost symmetrical, it's easy to hold it upside down and not notice until you're ready to press the button. And its easy to obscure the centered lens with your finger if you're not careful, because it's not as big and obvious as on a conventional camera. The window for the uploading software opens BEHIND other windows, causing you to think it's not working. Then it is awkward to figure out how to open an image in your own image-editing program.
