I didn't know a great deal about digital cameras but I knew that I needed something over 2 mega pixels and with optical zoom. This is quite a strange camera that trys to offer everything and gets close but still I find somethings are missing. For example it is small and light (about 7 ounces I think) but it's shape is a bit bulky and the design means it doesnt easily fit in a pocket like some of the slimmerline cameras. It also offers a video selection but this is an option that you will rarely use as the length is short and fixed. One of the good things about this camera ...

...I no longer use the Nikon view software as Windows XP transfers the pictures just as easily, but the photo editing package seems fine. The bundled 16mb card is not up to the job in my opinion, I took a 64mb card with me as well and filled both quite easliy. At high res you will fit only around 15 - 18 pictures on the supplied card. Easy to use, excellent picture quality, clear bright LCD, preset photo modes, picture enhancing options The camera has a maximum picture resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and this produces clear and detailed pictures which are photo quality up to about A4 printed size. i recommend this camera!! the only bad thing in it is that it has only 40 seconds for video clip recording and without sound ... another thing is that the battaries discharge quick ...

It looked too small for the picture quality to be much good, and people were marking it down due to short battery life. However, when I decided to go ahead and buy it, I was very impressed!
