Advantages Advantages Durable, great picture quality, semi pro camera.

Disadvantages Disadvantages wordy instruction book. Not the lightest to carry around.

I have had one of these since the day of release 2-3 years ago now, and I am upgrading... so what a perfect time to write a full review.... THE BODY The body isn't the smallest, but it also doesn't the biggest of camera's. It is slightly on the heavy side especially with the battery grip (sold separately) attached. The body is extremely durable, and splash-proof, mine has been out in many a rainstorm and survived to tell the story. I believe it has a metal underbody (of-course I've never seen it) but the structure of the body as never been compromised though it has been dropped and banged lots ... more

Advantages Advantages Good picture Quality, Fast shutter speed, excellent build and quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be a little big to carry everywhere with you, takes time to get to grips with all the settings

The Nikon D200 is an exceptional piece of equipment, and for those of you who have owned one or are still using the D200 will know what I am talking about. The build quality is just outstanding, I have dropped my D200 numerous times and it is still solid and taking excellent pictures. The speed of the camera is also pretty good, shooting at 5fps you are sure to capture all the action. The 10.2 megapixels will give you outsatnding picture quality and be able to print large A3 photos easily. I have a compact camera which is a 10 megapixel but does not come close to the picture quality that the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Many useful functions

Disadvantages Disadvantages Rubber covers to facilitate holding the camera just unstacked from the body.

I bought this camera 3 years ago and since this time I have taken thousands of pictures. The camera is a half professional equipment which means it could be used in both professional and unprofessional fields. Personally I like this camera very much. It has many useful functions (extended white balance function, bracketing, image overlay, interval timer shooting, etc). It has good shutter speed up to 1/8000 sec and wide range of ISO 100-1600 (up to ISO 3200 with boost). It has 2 different file formats: RAW which gives you uncompressed pictures and popular JPEG (3 levels). 10.2 million ... more

    Advantages Advantages Short Cut Menus

Disadvantages Disadvantages A little small for larger hands

This camera is a great kit for the price tag, especially as it has features both of a pro digital SLR as it has an aluminium body, with easy usage similar to an entry level camera. I have personally been using a Fuji S2 proir to this and the imaging capabilities of the Nikon beats the S2 outright as its a 6 mega pixel camera verus 10 mega pixel. There are short-cut functions in the top of the body such as ISO and white balance settings so there is no need to search through the menus to find these. Initially this camera may seem daunting due to the vastness of the menus, but some guidance from ... more

"Nikon's new prestigious D200 is ideal for those looking for a camera to bridge the gap between the professional and the entry level Digital SLRs. The D200 delivers the incomparable quality of professional pictures whilst offering exceptional versatility, creative responsiveness, accuracy and full manual control. The D200 is the perfect camera for the semi-professional and freelancer who want an affordable SLR that integrates the right portion of diversity, quality and reliability of Nikon's professional high-end models"-Numours websites, but don't you think that that just says it all? Advantages Advantages CF Cards, Cheap batteries, Looks pro, feels solid, weatherproof

Disadvantages Disadvantages No Auto Mode, No Scene Mode, CF Cards, No Video, No Live View

I bought a used Nikon D200 around 1 month a go, I have always wanted one and more so when I used to have a Nikon D50, Now my main camera is a Nikon D90, and the D200 is my spare back up body. The camera is a lot more bigger than many newer cameras, but then again it is water tight, it does not offer any advanced features such as Video record or Live view, it is however a very good camera, it does a great job at what its designed for and that is to take photographs, I can only suggest if you want a camera that records video, to purchase one separately. The camera runs from LION battery packs ... more

Advantages Advantages Metering, low ISO performance, image quality, build quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages dynamic range, noise in high ISO

Nikon D200 was launched in late 2005 and since been replaced by its worthy successor, the D300. The question is, whether it is still worthwhile to invest in D200? IMHO, it still is, especially if you are shifting from film to digital. The buld quality and handling of D200 is exceptionally good; so is the metering and image quality. Colour rendition, in my opinion, is a bit more saturated but that can always be tweaked in PS. The area where D200 scores below the recent DSLRs is its relatively poor dynamic range and digital noise in high ISO. Effectively, you cannot beyond ISO 640. But in lower ... more

Advantages Advantages Super build Quality: Opens up the world of Nikon.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Non: Just don't put cheap lenses on it...

Having used various Cameras over the years and various Brands Iv'e finally happily ended up with Nikon. The Nikon D200 is an easy to use SLR body with a wealth of features that are hidden in menus if you ever want to use them. It's the sort of camera that would be easy to use out of the box without the instruction book. Results: On the standard settings, the images this camera produces are lovely and punchy and hardly need any editing afterwards. It may be slightly pricier than some other models but this is a semi-pro model that will last for years... Accurate metering & focusing. Using the ... more
