    Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive to lose

I have lost a lot of cameras in my time. Anyone who goes backpacking knows what I'm talking about. They get stolen from airports, hotels, hostels, buses, trains and pushbikes, the camera the one thing of value in a rucksack for the quick grab. When it is my fault and I have physically lost them it's usually been spectacular, one dropped in the Grand Canyon, another left on top of a hire - car in Texas in a severe thunderstorm and another I had to leave sharpish as it had naked photos of the bloke's wife pursuing me! From these mishaps I have learnt to take a cheap camera abroad and keep my ... more

I purchased my Nikon D3000 as I had for years wanted a digital SLR camera but did not want to spend the earth on my first one as I am not a professional just yet. Having tried and tested a number of cameras in store I came home with this model and have not looked back since. My camera has been with me from the hottest of temperatures in Death Valley to the cold of Prague in December and has never failed me yet. The Nikon D3000 is a sturdy and compact digital camera which is smaller than a number of the other models and relatively lightweight. In appearance the camera is a good looking model ... more

    5 Stars Nikon D3000 19/09/2009
    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages Small and light.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None so far.

An excellent little DSLR that embodies some older proven Nikon technology like the 10.2 megapixel CCD from the D60/D80 combined with a new 11 point focus system and a shutter mechanism tested to 100,000 cycles. The body is small, perhaps too small for those with shovel sized hands but it is well made and feels very solid. With a camera this size there is no excuse to leave it at home. The kit lens produces excellent results and is a good starting point at least. Battery life is good and SDHC cards are a cheap and plentiful recording medium. As a first step into DSLR photography this is your ... more

Advantages Advantages Vr lens, functions, macro, quality of photo,

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I got one of these for myself at Christmas and I love it, its easy to use and has many functions. The battery lasts a long time in it as I only had to charge it 3 times over 5 months since I got it as i was using it a lot. My friends are jealous at the quality of the pictures produced by this and its a great professional camera as well as for family snap shots. Also has lost of useful info on the viewer when taking a picture. I am still exploring this camera and finding out loads more exciting things about it. I would recommend the VR lens that comes with some of these models. The size is what ... more

    Advantages Advantages Loads.

Disadvantages Disadvantages I cant think of anything. I love my Nikon

The Nikon D3000 is a splendid DSLR camera for someone like myself who is an intermediate photographer.. It is a fantastic camera for the beginner too. The manual is easy to read & absorb. (Not like some). The body is light weight and the functions are plentifull. The pictures are fab & I love the look of the camera. My photography skills have inproved in leaps & bounds. The interface is a joy to use in its simplicity & I love the revamped AF System. The 10.75 megapixels along with the 3 frames per second continuous shooting buffer makes this an ideal & spectatcular camera to have. I just wish ... more

Advantages Advantages Great battery life and great for beginners

Disadvantages Disadvantages No auto view, flip out screen or HD video recording

I was lucky enough to buy one of these at the begining of this year. As I am a beginer at photography, this camera is great. As with most cameras, it has a hot shoe for adding an external flash, which I found particularly useful for taking pictures of high speed objects such as cars or cyclists. Another feature this camera has is a guide mode, so if you have never used an DSLR before, it will explain all of the different featurs and what aperture and shutter speed are etc. The lens that comes with this camera is the standard 18-55mm focal length lens, which has vibration reduction and auto ... more

Advantages Advantages very easy to use, crisp pictures

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none so far.

I had this bought for Chistmas my first SLR. The Nikon D3000 camera is easy to use, lots of good settings, like the night mode is perfect for fireworks, and the sports setting is perfect for fast sports, so long as you have the camera still. It's IS0 sensitivity goes up to 3200, It has 'Activ D-Lighting' which helps the pictures, but I have to have mine off as my dog doesn't like it. It is quite heavy (along with many SLR's) so I keep managing to bang it, I've dropped it a few times, but it is in perfect working order. The pictures are crisp, but I would recommend you take the pictures in day ... more

Advantages Advantages Shutter speed, quality of pictures, videos as well as pictures, battery life

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No disadvantages.

The Nikon D3000 is absolutely flawless. I couldn't tell you one thing wrong with it. The pictures are of the finest quality and the battery life is incredible. The pictures are so focused and the original lens can zoom quite some way. It is a pretty camera and comes with lots of editing options on the actual menu which is great. I think that what makes it to great is the shutter speed, you can capture a moment in a second which is great. The lens doesn't scratch easy which is great as it is such a nuisance to have to replace a whole new lens. Furthermore it is easy to use as the instruction ... more
