The Nikon D300 will currently set you back around £1000 in the UK, and that's without the glass on the front. My review here might seem technical to some, but that's not an amount of money most people part with lightly. I don't apologise for putting some basic spec in the review, after all, if you're considering buying this camera, it's exactly what you need to know before getting out your wallet. If you're after a camera that will take good quality pictures, and allow you minimal chance to alter the settings, then there are other cameras out there that will offer you better value for money ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The price...

Nikon managed to protect very well the two projects (D3 and D300), the first information that predicted the appearance of D300, where published on the Internet just 24 hours before the official release date. D300 is a giant in technology (photo-technology)by now and needs a little more attention. In fact, D300 represents the new reference point in the professional zone of digital photography. The only aspect, at which Nikon looses in front of Canon, is the number of megapixels. If D300 offers 12.1 MP (4256x2232 pixels), Canon with his EOS-1Ds Mark III rises the record at 21 MP. It seems that ... more

Hi Friends.... Here is brief Description about Nikon D300, in my opinion it is perfect Camera......How? Lets have some discuss... Nikon Digital SLR cameras... I think the best SLR cameras available in the market. But...in these cameras... Nikon has some extra-ordinary DSLR cameras...like D300, D80 and newly launched Nikon D90. two years ago when Nikon launched D80 in the market it has changed the photographers minds.. why we should go for Nikon DSLR... Because maximum share of DSLR camera in market is under canon. and that was tough time to compete with canon's DSLR, but Nikon handled it well ... more

Advantages Advantages Incredibly easy to get excellent results, prosumer features

Disadvantages Disadvantages No built in anti-shake

I bought this camera a month ago having moved up from the Nikon D40x. The D300 is the new version of the excellent D200, boasting a new processor and a host of features from its big brother the D3. ** Picture quality ** The D300 produces outstanding pictures, as simple as that. But what I love about this camera is just how easy it is to get great results. Almost paradoxically, despite the camera looking awfully complicated with the many buttons, it is actually far easier to use than my D40x. My D300 had a hard workout last weekend; cloud, rain, bright sun, indoors, outdoors, moving children ... more

    Advantages Advantages everything

    Disadvantages Disadvantages price

I purchased this camera to jump start my photography business and it sure worked. The price is a little high, but the quality is worth every cent. The D300 produces magnificant works of art. With its 12.3 megapixel, clarity is key. Not to mention how fast the D300 is. It will shoot up to 8 frames per second. That is great for when I do sports photography or just taking a couple pics of some little rascals. Of course it has a very large display screen(3 inches), for a peek at your latest shot to compensate for error. Great camera and wonderful tool for the trade. Appropriate for all ranges of ... more

Advantages Advantages Great image quality, fast focusing and low noise at high ISO

Disadvantages Disadvantages D300's speed drops to 2.5 fps when shooting NEF 14 bit

D 300 is a truly great camera, is definitely a jump from the previous D200. The main advantage of the D300 is the low noise at higher ISO. I recently shot a musical performance under a very low light condition, using ISO 1600, and was surprised to see that the D300 produces very little less noise. The auto focusing is fast, with 51 AF point is very helpful when shooting moving objects. When shooting with 12-bit NEF or JPG, I could get 6fps, but the speed drops to 2.5 fps when shooting NEF 14 bit. It is a perfect camera to shoot in low light situation, especially when there are a lot of actions ... more

Advantages Advantages Low noise at high ISO settings

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None so far

I exchanged my D200 for a D300 a week ago. At the moment the weather has not been particularly good so the camera has been set at a high ISO rating. One set of pictures were taken at ISO 1600, something I would have never attempted with my D200 or my D2Xs, which I also have. The results are very pleasing and the lack of noise is a great achievement for Nikon. Previously in low light conditions, I would have to put the pictures through Photoshop and use Noise Ninja etc. The colours are also good and the presettings allow you to tailor the image to your own liking. Another step forward is the ... more
