Nikon D3100 Review Firstly I would like to say that I am not a camera expert and that this review is based entirely upon my own experience of this camera rather than an extensive knowledge of photography and cameras. Unfortunately my knowledge of cameras is fairly limited. This review would therefore only suit someone as a starting point for researching this camera rather than an all-encompassing one stop review that will give you everything you need to know and more about the camera in question. Baring that in mind I will now tell you what I think of the camera and how it came to be that a ... more

Nikon D3100 SLR digital camera~~Basics~~We have owned this camera for about 1 year and have been more than happy with the ease of use, picture quality and general durability. The camera came with a rechargeable battery pack and holds its charge for 4 to 5 hours of constant use. The USB, HDMI and AV connecters are easily accessible on the body and are protected by a rubber flap. The Nikon D3100 is a single lens reflex (SLR) digital camera. The camera body did not come with a lens. We have a couple of lenses and find we use an 18-70mm Nikon lens most of the time. We paid around £400 for the ... more

Advantages Advantages High Resolution, Guide Mode, Range of different camera modes, Ability to edit images in camera

Disadvantages Disadvantages No 'quick' ISO control, Cost

OVERVIEW In my opinion, a very good beginners DSLR camera which comes with many features. With 14.2 megapixels, a high quality output can be achieved. Although this camera provides all the features expected of a DSLR camera, it is fairly light for its size which means that it is not heavy to carry around if you are out walking for the day. The camera has a comfortable grip and you can also get a strap to place around your neck meaning that transportation of the camera is easy. GOOD POINTS Guide Mode - To get you started, Nikon have included a guide mode to take you through the basics of using ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages You need to buy a lens

I got my Nikon D3100 about a 6 months ago and I have been pretty happy since. I was looking to move into more advanced cameras and what I saw was that this SLR was the beginner camera. What I found most helpful as a beginner was the guide feature that this camera has. It has a step by step guide to get a certain type of picture and through this I started learn how to use the manual option that it has as well. To me the pictures were a lot better than any normal point and shoot camera, but there is much better out there. It just depends on how much money you want to spend. I thought this is the ... more

Advantages Advantages The price, good photo quality, choice of lenses available, battery life, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages No image stabilization system

From the very first minutes I liked this camera. Lightweight, relatively small, easy to use. It has digital camera modes such as: no flash, daylight, nature, macro, children, etc. or Auto. You can also find a manual control. Relatively long battery life is one of the advantages of this camera. It shots 500 photos without need to charge. And the charger included with this camera is quite normal. In this case the camera is charged after 1.5-2h. The camera uses a 14.2 CMOS light sensor. The camera can record video clips - 1080p24, 424p24, and with 720p30/25/24 parameters. AF system is inherited ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages no external mic slot.

When I first tried the Nikon D3100, I was happy with its size and weight. I am not an expert but i do love photography and having lived with Point and shoot all my life, i finally decided I have to have DSLR. The kit came with a 18-55mm AF-S Nikkor lens. What i love about the kit it is that it already has a VR feature that reduces shakes when taking photos handheld. The images are crisp and professional-looking. For beginners, they won't have a hard time finding their way around those buttons because of the User Guide. With a bright LCD and superior 14.2 MP, there's no way you're gonna mess a ... more

I LOVE my Nikon D3100. I have had a few small cameras for various birthdays and Christmas presents but the Nikon D3100 was definitely, without a doubt my favorite piece of camera equipment. The flash is perfect for out door, indoor and in the dark uses. This give pictures great effect and tends to make my pictures look reasonably professional. It is however expensive to some, but if someone wanted a decent pocket sized camera for holidays, special occasions or just photography in general, this is not only the perfect gift but also a brilliant little, manageable camera which even for someone ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages No auto focus motor built into the camera so limits the type of lenses avaiable.

I brought this camera knowing nothing about taking pictures. I think I have only ever owned one other camera in my life and that was about 15 years ago. The guide modes on the camera teach you most things you need to know and the picures you can start to take fairly quickly are great. I have had the camera about a month now and can pretty much get any effect I want to in complete manual mode all thanks to the guides build into the camera software. Its not overly bulky for an SLR and it looks pretty cool. In most places you can get it with a lense pack, I would recommend this as the lenses can ... more
