Review of Nikon D40x by Hsaxo

Advantages: Quality Pictures, Easy to use, Compact
Disadvantages: Price but still worth it for a decent camera

** Nikon D40x Digital SLR ** This is my first digital SLR camera I really like taking pictures of mainly our families dogs and cars my main hobbies, my other half had previously had been using a digital SLR that belonged to his dad, so we both went a long to Jessops that is well know for selling really good photography stuff. We had a look at various models of camera including the Canon Eos 400d which is one of this cameras biggest rival models, ... Read review

Nikon D40x
Review of Nikon D40x by mjridley

Advantages: Small, feature packed, easy to use, Built in Help system, auto and scene modes
Disadvantages: only three AF points, manual not so good

...though the Canon 400d and Nikon D40x did seem to be the market leaders. I then found that the K100d had been superceded by the K100d Super and the price had gone up closer to the canon and Nikon. I spotted an offer at Currys of a Nikon D40x with 18-55mm lense for £405 plus a 55-300mm nikon lense for an extra £30 and on top of that buy now (with no deposit) pay next september. I couldn't resist. I am glad the offer came around because in the end ... Read review

Nikon D40x DSLR
Review of Nikon D40x by almarsden

Advantages: Compact for an SLR, easy to use, excellent picture quality.
Disadvantages: Battery life only allows 1000ish photos to be taken

My review is about the Nikon D40x Digital Single Lense Reflex camera. For the last 3 years i've been taking photographs using my dad Konika Minolta Dynax 5D, but as of a few months ago i've moved in with my other half and no longer have access to my dads camera, so before christmas it was decided that we needed our own digital SLR. I'd got a couple of models in mind, the Canon EOS 500d and the Nikon D40, they both did what I wanted of them ... Read review

D40x
Review of Nikon D40x by xtr.eme

Advantages: Excellent image quality and build
Disadvantages: Average value for money, limited choice of lenses

...motor, the camera only takes Nikon AF-S lenses, which have a motor built in. The standard lens is an excellent starting point, but if you want to expand your collection a sensible choice would be the Nikon AF-S 55-200 VR lens, which will allow you to zoom in more on your subject. The 10MP sensor coupled with a high quality lens ensures great photo quality. The camera offers 10 modes. A beginner should start with the Auto mode, where the camera ... Read review

Nikon D40X
Review of Nikon D40x by biglox

Advantages: Light, over 10mp, takes SD cards
Disadvantages: Limited lens choice.

...been well received. I bought the Nikon "kit" which comprised the body, an 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens all for less than £500 which I reckon was a good deal. There are still plently retailers that will only let you have the body and one lens for this much. My only complaint is the lack of choice as far as lenses are concerned. Basically to get full functionality with this camera you have to use the Nikon DX range which at present is fairly ... Read review

best camera under £500
Review of Nikon D40x by samjackson1990

Advantages: fantastic value for money
Disadvantages: some older lenses will not auto focus

...down to 2 choices, the nikon d40x and the canon 400d. these are both brilliant cameras for their price but the nikon performs slightly better in my opinion and is about £30 cheaper. if you are comparing this to the earlier d40 i would highly recommend paying the extra money for this as the extra 4 mega pixels will be vital if you are planning on enlarging your photos to anything bigger than a3. the optical quality of the 18-55mm kit lens is ... A lovely SLR - Great Quality
Review of Nikon D40x by laptop07

Advantages: Clear, crisp photos, easy to use, good battery life, can use old film lenses
Disadvantages: Bulkier than a compact

...Old Lens for his Film Nikon SLR and they fit also (but don’t automatic focus). What a great way of using old camera lens’s that you may have. The battery life is excellent, it only takes about 90 minutes to fully charge the battery. I haven’t tested and noted how many photo’s it will take on the battery but have in the past taken 200 ++ photos some with flash and viewed the photo’s on the screen with the battery life still looking ok. Which is ... Read review

New to DSLR's ?
Review of Nikon D40x by IanDLS

Advantages: Helpful menu system
Disadvantages: No Preview

...once I began using this Nikon D40X. Even my father wants to use it now, and he's got a few camera's himself. For those who may have expected it, don't think you will be able to see the picture you want to take through the LCD screen BEFORE you take it. It doesn't display the image until you have taken it... there's me thinking I'm missing a control, or used to using phone camera's... if it's a quirk, then that's about the only one it has. I ... The cheaper one SLR from Nikon
Review of Nikon D40x by ifulhasef

Advantages: Good quality photo, wider view finder, best display
Disadvantages: No interface CF, lens look so conventional

Nikon must be continued to compete SLR competition especially with Canon in SLR camera. In this case, Nikon can win in price aspect. SLR D40x is more cheaper than another SLR from Canon or Pentax. The quality of the picture was produced with D40x very good. From this cheap SLR, don't wish that we will get an extra SD card. Although this SLR use SD card interface not CF (Compact Flash) interface so it can be considered which not take benefit for ... Read review

Brilliant DSLR for its price
Review of Nikon D40x by amybm8

Advantages: price, small size, quality
Disadvantages: easily damaged, digital screen is often annoying

...that department than most other NIkon DLSRs in this price bracket. Small, compact and light at the same time as being user-friendly, this baby produces fantastic high-quality photographs that can be edited on the camera, a surprisingly useful feature. Battery life is also excellent. With a 1gb memory card, this camera can store hundreds of pictures at high quality. Although the automatic functions are superb, and there are settings specifically for ... Read review

Smallest and lightest becomes heavy!
Review of Nikon D40x by e_ottosson

Advantages: Light, easy to handle, awesome quality, fast, perfect for new SLR buyers
Disadvantages: No AF-engine built in, to simple if you are used to SLRs

This is the first step to become a friend with a digital SLR camera! D40x is very easy to contol and the quality is awesome! You wont notice the difference between a D200 and this one. Especially not if you are a beginnner. It takes 3pics/sec and it is 20% faster than the D40. From OFF to a ready shot the gap is only 0,18sec! D40x is very lightweight and easy to handle, especially if your hand is a little bit smaller! That´s because of the small ... Read review

Nikon D40X + 18-55mm lens
Review of Nikon D40x by BTreyo

Advantages: Addional Lenses that are available.
Disadvantages: Yet to discover

...from Quidco * £40 off from Nikon The camera came with an 18-55mm lens& has many lens which are available compared to the Nikon D40 and not far off as far as functionality is concerned from the D80 - my uncle has D80 and was teaching me how to use mine and he was quite impressed. I still need to learn lots about the functionality but will post more when I know more. Meanwhile I know I got a great deal on the camera itself not to mention the ... Read review
