Nikon D90 - My Next 'Last' Camera

Advantages: Movies, LiveView, 12.3 mpixels, build quality, excellent lens range
Disadvantages: Still quite bulky for casual use. Expensive if that's all you want it for

...they’ve included Philips, Casio, Canon, Nikon and errr…..Nikon. Of course the last one, my first DSLR, a Nikon D70 was going to be the last; but then we all say that don’t we, lads? What I really meant was “the last for quite a while”. ==LOOKS LIKE THE “QUITE A WHILE” HAS EXPIRED== Then my daughter started making noises about a night-school class in photography, where the minimum kit requirement just so happened to be a DSLR, and I got to thinking ...
...However, it’s not unique to Nikon – I think Olympus, Canon and maybe others have been doing this for a while now. ==WHY A DSLR ANYWAY?== Why '''any''' kind of SLR for that matter? After all, they’re bulkier, heavier and a lot more expensive than a good pocket camera so they must have something going for them eh? The single lens reflex camera has been a mainstay of keen amateurs and professionals alike for decades, at least in small film formats like ...

My experience of the Nikon D90 as an amateur photographer.

Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens
Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode

...found that the prices of Nikon DSLRs haven't decreased significantly over the last 3 years, so I decided (maybe wrongly) that this option would save me money in the long run. I found that it is very important to go into a shop and hold the camera in your hands before making a choice. All the photography shop assistants said that the Canon series was just as good as the Nikons, but I discounted them because I didn't get on with the feel of the bodies ...
...D5000. This means that all Nikon lens can be used, rather than just the newer AF lenses. === Disadvantages === The only disadvantage I can think of aside from the price tag, is portability. I personally like the chunky feel it has in the hand, but it can be heavy to carry around and requires its own bag. You don't want to be holding it up for long periods without support. For this reason I have missed some shots, simply because I was unable to take ...

...all lovers of photography and Nikon fans in particular. It has almost lived up to it’s promise and more than satisfied all who has been eagerly waiting for it which was an almost foregone conclusion after Nikon D80 was launched exactly 2 years ago. To cap it all it is the first camera to support movie capture which must be accepted as a revolutionary but expected addition into the features of a DSLR. It will be a big mistake to assume that it is ...
...It has done NOT only Nikon 80 proud but also Nikon itself. Comparisons and criticism will always be there but nobody can deny its class and quality. It is true that the competition will come not only from Canon with its cheaper Rebel Xsi, Sony’s Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 (12.2 mega pixel), Pentax K20D (14.6 mega pixel) but mainly from its own 40D (10 mega pixel) which must be a great source of pride for Nikon. The company has made out a niche of coming ...

...EOS 500D and the other Nikon D5000. this was a very hard choice I found that while playing around with all 3 in shops the D90 had the best video, and more vibrant pictures than the Canon. but that still left me with the two nikons the only thing that separated them in my books was the screens the larger screen on this D90 or the smaller lower resolution on the D5000. and as i like to take lots of photos and look at them i went for the D90. Quick review of Nikon D90

No wonder this camera won the TIPA camera of the year award for 2009. It's well worth every penny. Easy to use, with an excellent 3inch screen on the back. The live view facility is also excellent. There are enough utilities and functions to keep me going for a long time. This camera is taking me onto the next level in photography. ...

PROS AND CONS OF D 90

Advantages: super quality of basic functions
Disadvantages: a little heavy

The basic points of the camera are: Pros: 1 - Fantastic value for money 2 - Great start to amateur photography 3 - Very very easy to use 4 - Comes with a good quality glass lense Cons : 1 - Expensive to change to alternative lense, unless going for other brands e.g. lenses with plastic covers. 2 - A little heavy 3 - Not as compact as other digital handheld cameras 4 - Sometimes awkward reviewing mode 5 - I personnally find the interface ...
...a beautiful model and great for beginner photographers hoping to get a grip for a digital SLR, an obvious upgrade from it's predecessor but I still feel it could do with a little more work with it's interface, as some of the functions are still not quite as clean cut to use. Great camera in general for it's price band, unless you're a professional photographer, this camera provides everything you need for high quality photographs. ...
