My husband bought our Nikon Nuvis S to replace a Minolta Riva Zoom 140. The Minolta was a good camera, but it was a bit bulky to take everywhere. The Nuvis S fits very nicely in my handbag. I now have a camera to carry everywhere (when my husband lets me have it).
Picture quality is great! I have a 1 year old daughter, so I am snapping lots of pictures with it. The steel case also makes it durable enough that it hasn't broken in all the times my ... ...to load, and the camera has a mid-roll change facility. I find this useful when I want to shoot an entire roll of film on a subject, but already started a different roll.
All in all, I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a solid, durable, portable camera. ...

Review of Nikon Nuvis S Compact Camera
Advantages: Mid-roll change, size, durability Disadvantages: limited APS film options
The Nikon Nuvis S has become my carry everywhere camera. I have a full SLR kit including 3 camera bodies and a few lenses, but the Nikon Nuvis S has become my everyday, any occasion camera. The lightweight, stainless steel design is very durable and it fits into my pocket.
The Nuvis S uses APS film so getting the camera ready for use involved dropping in the battery and the film. The camera offers most of the APS features, including back-printing, ... ...APS film. I contacted Nikon and they adjusted my camera so that it now supports B&W. Their comment was that the camera was designed before B&W APS film as available, so they just needed to make an adjustment to allow my camera to use it.
The mid-roll change feature is my favorite feature. This allows me to switch between B&W, Colour Print and Colour Slide film. I tend to mostly shoot Fuji Nexia 100F and 100IX films, but the Kodak B&W gets some use ...

Nikon call their Nuvis S "The Smart Little Camera in the Cool Metal Jacket", and that sums it up perfectly because not only is it small and and beatiful but it is one of the best APS (Advanced Photo System) cameras on the market.
As an idea to how perfect the size of this camera is; when it is closed you can fit it in your shirt pocket - yeet when its in functional mode it is just the right size to hold comfertably.
