Advantages Advantages Augmented reality is fun!

Disadvantages Disadvantages 3D is hit or miss, basically a DS with 3D

What Nintendo have done is take the original DS, made some changes and add the number ‘3’ in front of it to make the Nintendo 3DS. I hate Nintendo for doing this because they always get away with it. You know that it is going to be pretty much the same deal as before, no revolution in anyway, but Nintendo still makes you part ways with your money to purchase their new devices. Let me explain. It started with the Gameboy. Does anyone remember the handheld device that was 4 shades of green and had a blur-o-matic screen that meant high-speed gameplay was impossible? I had one of those devices ... more

Advantages Advantages The 3D actually works, the console is true generational leap, Offers so much more than just 3D,

Disadvantages Disadvantages 3D is a distraction from better things, online not ready, camera really is very poor.

It has been a long time coming but the successor to the DS has finally arrived. When the DS first appeared on the scene it was the first handheld capable of rendering 3D graphics, something that was totally overlooked by the innovative dual screen approach, touch screen controls and a great games library. It made it's mark by offering games unlike anything we'd seen before and competed with the PSP, a far more powerful system, by consistently offering great games. While it was probably not a surprise to anyone that Nintendo would eventually unveil a DS with a true hardware upgrade, I don't ... more

    Advantages Advantages design, 3D, features

Disadvantages Disadvantages battery life, lack of games at the moment

Many people is mistook the 3DS for just another console in the DS series, much like the DSi which was just the same console with a few extra features. However, this is wrong! The 3DS is actually a completely new console, the only similarity being the touch screen design and of course the shared name. This is where the 3DS really makes itself worth those extra pounds.. it is way above any other handheld nintendo release we have had. The graphics on the DS series have so far been very shoddy, and unless you are playing a cartoon like game, it can make the game itself unplayable. However the 3DS ... more

    Advantages Advantages Forefront of technology

Disadvantages Disadvantages Little use buying now

Nintendo 3DS: Cosmos Black I’m sick. I originally pre-ordered my Nintendo 3DS on the basis that a possible shortage would mean I would be able to sell it on for more than face value, similar to what I did over 5 years back with my Xbox 360 (and considering what happened in Japan, this could enhance the possibility of a shortage that I could capitalize on, right?) The technology might be developed in Japan, but the product is actually manufactured in China. But back on to the technology aspect, because that is what is really impressive and has to be seen to be believed. I am not overhyping ... more

Advantages Advantages All the favourites in 3D!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages 0.3 megapixel camera

I wasn't sure about the Nintendo 3DS to start with. The TV advertisements didn't really give much away in terms of how it worked or what it looked like, as I guess it's pretty much impossible to portray 3D on a 2D screen. It was enough to get me interested though. I went down to one of the major games retailers and asked if they had any available to try, and luckily they did. I must admit, it wasn't what I expected. It was better. The technology that Nintendo have produced is amazing. Unlike what you see in a 3D film, the images appear to go inwards, rather than jump out of the screen. It ... more

Advantages Advantages Excellent, emersive graphics, nice interface, appealing to large audience, significant upgrade

Disadvantages Disadvantages 3D takes getting used to, doesn't suit everyone, games and apps are expensive

I was unsure of the 3DS initially. I was not a fan of the DSi for the sheer lack of features and being more of a money scam for Nintendo, I was very suspicious of the 3DS being similarly, well, similar. I was certainly not in line the day it came out, but months later I decided to check it out at the display in Walmart. The problem with the product's advertising is that they cannot display the true crown jewel of the product, the 3D capability. After seeing it for myself it made a lasting impression. The 3D is impressive. I flew through a round of Starfox 3D, an old N64 favorite of mine, and ... more

    Advantages Advantages Revolutionary

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not much variety in game titles

I bought the 3DS back in March only a day or two after it has been released. I paid £279.99 from HMV for the console itself, two games and a 'starter pack' which consisted of a hardcase, extra stylus' and screen protection equipment. I think that the launch price for the console was steep. This is because the games catalogue at the release of the console was very limited with about two games from each genre (fighting, racing, sport, rpg etc) and unfortunately the range of available titles is still somewhat lacklustre and lacking in scope. On the other hand, it does have to be said that this ... more

Advantages Advantages Fantastic looks crisp sound and picture 3D with out glasses

Disadvantages Disadvantages No gameboy slot as in the DS lite and the Virtual console wasn't out on release date

I bought this amazing piece of hardware after reading about it's fantastic capabilities in a magizine. A fantastic piece of hardware it is easily the best handheld console on the market in my opinion. Graphics capability: The graphics are crisp and brilliant. But it is not these that are the best thing, it is the revoloutionising 3D effect without the need for glasses, the effect is amazing, it took my breath away the first time I saw it and it still inpresses me now. The 3D effect is able to be turned off if you want to just see the plain clear crisp graphics in 2D. It is a clear improvement ... more

Advantages Advantages The 3D graphics are amazing, the device is very light and the price is just right.

Disadvantages Disadvantages The battery life could use an extra couple of hours.

Where to begin. 3d for me was always something I thought was a pretty cool idea but a very novel one all the same. I had seen many 3D movies in theaters and am also lucky enough to have 3D capability at home in the form of the PS3. However, as exciting as it is playing your favorite titles in full three dimensional HD graphics, it does not compensate for the enormous, uncomfortable glasses you have to wear, which make you look like a welder from the future who is also broke because for a half decent pair its going to set you back a few hundred pounds. This is why when I heard about the 3DS ... more

When i first heard about the Nintendo 3DS, i didn't really think much of it, i thought it was just another gimmick to make money. I had the original Nintendo DS and never uprgraded to any of the newer systems such as the DSi/DSLite, i was just totally satisfied with my good old plain and simple DS. Anyway, one day when i was browsing youtube i came across a few video reviews and that's when i decided to research it further, i checked out a few different websites & finally i decided to order one. At the moment the 3DS is available in Cosmos Black or Aqua Blue but i believe more colours will be ... more
