...I had even taken my Nintendo 64 to West Africa once and found no problems connecting or playing it even though there were so many light fluctuations. On my trip, my son had borrowed his friend’s playstatyion in trade for our N64. It took us an hour to connect the playstation and then after playing a couple games smoke started coming out of the playstation. We later released that the playstation had blown up and we had to buy the guy a new playstation. ... ...that I had bought a Nintendo 64 and not any other console.

Advantages: Some amazing games and innovations Disadvantages: Some poor games and a sad death
...stand for ages playing the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) on games like Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt. Of course I was still young at the time, and that was the limit of my early console experience. However years later b the time I had paper rounds and jobs at local chippies, I managed to buy myself a Super Nintendo (SNES) and console gaming became a big thing for me.
I’ve since upgraded to a Playstation and Dreamcast (with my greedy eyes ... ...a Nintendo 64 (N64) a while back. Many people instantly dismiss the N64 as inferior, even to a supposedly lower spec Playstation. However this is certainly not the case, the N64 is a hugely underrated console and has produced some of videogamings finest moments. Whilst now, new games are rarer than a Brit winning Wimbledon, there are some amazing games out for it.

...got round to buying a Nintendo 64 as I already owned a playstation and couldn't persuade my parents to let me have both. Though this did not stop me from enjoying its endless multiplayer entertainment as luckily I had a very good friend who owned one. OK, I'm not going to go into some pureile rant about who makes the best consoles, I'll leave that for the ten year olds in the playground. The fact is that I own a Dreamcast, Playstation, N64, and a 3DO (remember them?) and, in terms of entertainment per hour, the N64 comes out tops. Let me tell you why...
Like many men in their mid-twenties I would like nothing better than to waste away every available hour chasing yellow stars, beating lap records, ... ...that work, girlfriend, mates etc. have an annoying habit of getting in the way. So, what I need is quality gaming that gives me maximum pleasure with the least amount of pissing about. This is where the N64 shines for me. You may, legitimately, argue that the amount of games available for the 64 is restrictively low, but as an occasional gamer this does not pose a problem as I will never have enough time to complete 90% of the games that I buy. ...this are only made by Nintendo and therefore can only be played with a platform such as this. They are probably the best games for it as well.
I am trying to review the actual N64 here, and so will not go into depth on any more games. The speed of the console is good. It occasionally latches on startup - but it is about 4 years old. Once started though I have very rarely had it crash during a game. The PS on the other hand regularly lost game data ... ...have to recommend the N64 to all, especially due it s cheapness. However if you have a lot of money burning a hole in your pocket I would probably hold out for the GameCube, Nintendo's newest offering since i believe Nintendo will continue to create the most playable games out. ...

Ok, so the Nintendo 64 never grasped the publics attention in the same way as the PlayStation did, and now it seems as though the 64 bit purely for games machine is on it’s last legs, with very few releases arriving, but I do recommend this machine to you if you can pick one up for the right price. Let there be no mistake – there are some absolutely phenomenal games on the Nintendo 64, which play better than most of the recently released ... ...Sega Saturn and occasionally a Nintendo 64 – at present I haven’t got one, but I’ll let you know what I know! ...a life long follower of Nintendo and their games consoles. This started with their first home console the Nintendo Entertainment System or NES which although I didn't own (instead opting for the Sega Master System) I often borrowed a NES off others and always preferred it to the Sega console. This the led to the purchase of Ninty's next home console the SNES which still holds a large place in my heart as a truly classic console with some amazing ... ...month). So my life of Nintendo naturally led me to buy their current home console the N64.
Although now the N64 is approaching the end of its life, with the new Nintendo console the GameCube not too far away, its still one of the best systems out there and one that everyone should give a go.
The N64 was released back in 1996 where it faced very strong competition from the original Playstation that had already been around for a couple of years. ...

Advantages: Mario 64 and Zelda - Ocarina of Time, cartridges far harder to ruin than CD's. Disadvantages: Poor system, lack of quality games and high game prices.
The N64 was dubbed as a superb console enabling 64 bit technology to surpass that of the Sony Playstation. It's a shame it never really took off then.
The N64 was possibly the most underrated console of recent years. It arrived in a market already dominated by the Sony PLaystation and attempted a full scale head to head battle with the 32 bit system. It came out severely injured. It's lack of games was the biggest downpoint though, quality games ... ...release was Mario 64, hardly worth the price tag of the console (let alone the £50 for the game!). Since then we've seen notable efforts from Zelda - Ocarina of time and... and.... ummm... Ok, so only Zelda, but it was a damn fine game. The graphics were superb and the gameplay excellent, indeed I would rate it as one of my favourite ever games, but one game is never going to carry a system.
The N64 did have the advantage of having 4 players simultaneously ...

...safe route and chose the Nintendo 64 (or so we thought).
Now a year on from that fateful choice, we're pretty happy with the N64 and have found it a pretty excellent choice, playing well and proving to be quite a powerful little choice, but we have become very concerned in recent months by the rumours we heard from people that Nintendo have stopped making games for the N64 and when we've looked in the local shops (places like Currys) we've seen ... ...even though it's been a struggle to persuade our 11 year old to shop around for bargains (he keeps insisting on trying to get the newest WWF games from the States), we've been quite pleased.
I'd be happier if Nintendo are a bit more ethical in their operations, however. ...

...in the shape of a Nintendo 64, as my brothers have pursuaded my parents to purchase it as a joint family present - those with siblings will know the joy of having a present that you have to share. Needless to say as the youngest of three I probably got the least time with the black piece of plastic, and when I say the N64 began to see gaming accomplishments for me I do say that loosely as it was possibly only the building blocks to moving on to completing ... ...industry could have been avoided. Nintendo and Sony were originally working together in a bid to make a console, however fell out over the idea of whether or not the public were ready for disc technology as opposed to cartridges. Naturally the two then went their separate ways and we all know how that turned out, Sony shifted over 100 million units of their debut PlayStation console worldwide, whilst Nintendo only shifted around 30% of the same units ...

Although I have a Dreamcast and enjoy playing that console very much, I couldn't help but notice that I saw a second hand N64 for sale for only £40 with Zelda, Mario 64 and Perfect Dark.
This was an oppertunity I couldn't miss out on, but also I had read many reviews about the N64 and how good the graphics are even compared to the Dreamcast and PS2.
So I bought the N64 for the cheap price of £40 and it was one of the best moves I've ever made! ... ...games I played on were superb.
Zelda especially is one of my favourites and would be a great hit if it were to arrive on other consoles.
I was extremely happy with my purchase and I have bought other games such as the famous Goldeneye, with James Bond and Zelda 2 which is even better than the original.
I now play on my N64 more than my Dreamcast. Now I'm not saying to anyone who has a Dreamcast or PS2 to sell them and buy and N64, but if you have ...

OK, so the N64 is a good, cheap console, but don't you think the price of the games is ripping us off? I mean, even the PS2 games are cheaper than the N64! I recently bought a N64, luckily it had many games with it, (mainly because it was second hand), but it was extremely cheap. It was £50 for the N64 and 5 games!
I only bought this console to keep me going until a good new PS2 game comes out. I've recently been playing on Golden eye. Golden eye ... ...It is mission type game where you go around completing levels and missions, to get cheats like invisibility and the Golden Gun. I think this game is the best game I have got, probably because I've seen almost all the 007 films! I'm having a little trouble with the last level; so if you can tell me how to get past it, leave it on the commentaries, please? I also got The Legend of Zelda with the N64 but I haven't played that much because it really ...

(+) Plenty of storage space, for media. Good Games, Great for partys, with singstar. Very Reliable. (-) Sometimes the optical drive, breaks; but not very likely, my 60gb still working after 2 1/2 years.
